I've been using a 14.2 amp XBox supply for 10 years, powering a 3 channel 600W amplifier with 8 speakers, plus a 12 inch subwoofer. You can run it near full volume without clipping. It takes all 14.2 amps. At a volume level where you feel like it's too loud, it will cut off, but the whole house is shaking by that point. It certainly doesn't need more power, but I want more power. I was shocked to hear how much volume you can get from just 14.2 amps. The voltage is 12.30 volt, but drops to 11.90 volts before it will clip and shut down. The capacitor in the XBox power supplies is tiny, so you need a very large buffer capacitor (I don't have a buffer capacitor unfortunately). I do want more volume, and more power (duh!) so thanks for this video! I wasn't sure where to look.
Hello and thanks for watching, I have heard of people using the Xbox power supply. Before my Powermax setup I had a computer 5amp power supply that barely powered amplifiers. The 75 amp version of the one you have here. It is capable of up to 1095 watts continuously so that will be more than sufficient to test pretty much anything I need to. I made a little setup with some 4 gauge going into a distribution block that had multiple outputs so I can hook up the amp, headunit etc. Setup works great and the price i got it for was amazing because they had made a mistake, thats why I bought the 75A, it was priced at $119 and the 100A was $279. I have mine set on the fixed position. I haven’t had any issues so far but I also haven’t had my setup for that long and I don’t have a battery, just a small cap. My suggestion would be to leave it on the fixed position when your playing the system. If you want to charge your battery after every use then I would switch over to the 3 stage charging mode. That’s how I plane to use my power supply when I get a battery. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching and if you haven’t already done so please like and subscribe.🔊🔊🔊
@@93dajjdg since it works with your cap should work with a battery with the fix setting so the question is, is it ideal for long term use

That’s a question I can’t honestly answer. I hope someone sees our conversation and can help answer that question. 🤞
@@kamikazikaizer it really depends on how much you use it and how much power is really being pulled out of the system. But this is basically the same as if it was in a car or motor home set up the only real difference is you are using a 100amp power supply in stead of the vehicle changer basically the only difference between the system. If it all brand new you should be able to get 5years out of it in a some what normal usage just like in a vehicle 🎵🎶🛠️💯🍻👌✌️
😢estos yankis tienen de todo acá en Argentina no se consigue nada de esto ...y si lo llegasen a conseguir te sale una fortuna
I had no idea it is that difficult to get a 12v power supply in other countries. Thanks for watching and please like and subscribe. Saludos to all in Argentina.👋
So how do you turn everything in… plug it in the wall. You running the turn in lead directly to positive on the power max and just turn everything on by plugging it in?
Yeah you guest it correctly, I turn everything on by plugging the power supply into the wall. I did recently add a switch to the remote for the amplifiers but that’s only for a quick swap of speakers or subwoofers. Thanks for watching and please like and subscribe.🔊🔊🔊
You can also get a extremel remote control on and off outlet for a 110v outlet just make sure it can handle 20amps plug everything in and use the remote control to turn the power on and off to the supply that way you don't have to plug and unplug it all the time. 🎶🛠️💯👍✌️🍻
