I've thoroughly enjoyed your reviews. I am a longtime pipe smoker. And I have smoked many of the tobaccos you have reviewed. I must say you're quite knowledgeable in The field of pipe tobacco.
Great review... Yes, a definite overall cigar feel. Has that musty, barnyard smell that is somehow pleasant. A tiniest hint of sweetness (somehow) in among the nutty, toasty, dried hay. Surprisingly, there is an almost floral, powdery note that wafts through, but just barely, which turns into a wintergreen-like sensation towards the bottom of the bowl. A very quick, singularly unique, and enjoyable smoke! Keep up the good work!
Excellent review! I live in Belgium and have been smoking this forever lol. Like you say, it has a cigar like taste. I smoke it straight but I usually hydrate it just a bit since it is very dry. It is UNIQUE - unlike any other pipe tobacco I've ever tried. I think the best way to describe this is that it is typically Belgian - like many things from this little country it is great but underrated. Apart from smoking it straight, you can also use it to blend with other tobaccos. I have made my own tasty blend using Manil's Semois as the main tobacco and adding a bit of Latakia (I use Wellauer's) and Virginia (I've used Mac Baren Virginia no.1). I use this tobacco to improve tobacco mixtures I DISLIKE and often come up with some new and surprisingly pleasant. Is is probably more affordable to do in Belgium where Semois is less expensive than most other pipe tobaccos.
@@alessandromyer so sorry for the late reply ... I have just seen your message. If you have not yet been to Antwerp, you can find Manil Semois tobacco in most tobacco shops there. You can even find it in the open public markets on Saturday and Sunday in Oudevaartplaats and Falconplein.
Victor Brias thanks for your reply. I am still looking for it as a could not find it in Huis Verloo and did not look elsewhere. Great thing to look forward to when I can travel again from London.
+Luca Jooste - That particular pipe was left in a virgin, unfinished state by the maker so that it would take on color as it was smoked. I think it looks quite nice too. Thanks you for watching!
Hello, Just wanted to drop in and say I really enjoy all your videos, I am pretty new to pipe smokeing but just finished my first Tin of Nightcap and it was amazing, your reviews are spot on and very informative. I plan on trying several more English and "vaper " blends now that there is a whole new world of tobaccos to me besides aromatics that I never really enjoyed all that much. Keep cranking out the videos! Love the Sunday smokes and knife reviews as well. Cheers.
I love the Dark color of your pipe!! Looks very cool. Keep the videos coming because I learned a lot from them since I want to follow your and my dad his example :-))
Thanks for the interesting review Bradley! my curiosity is piqued and will now look forward to trying some. A floral/tea-like cigar flavor sounds great to me!
Looking forward to a review of the portion you are moistening. I've yet to break the seal on my brick that I ordered after first watching this review. I am enjoying my adventure into Burleys and I'm sure I'll be trying this one soon. I'm always intrigued by things that don't fit into the box. Thanks for your reviews.
Hi Bradley, Nice revieuw. you have made me very curious.I am going to visit them.it is not far from the place i live in Holland. 4 hours drive. They also have a pipemuseum so that will be interesting as well. I cant wait to try de la Brumuese. Have a nice day !
+Richard Spruijt Don't forget to phone them before you go there! The museum isn't open every day. Don't go driving for 4 hours to find it closed. There's a lot of info on the site of the Dutch/Belgian Pipesmokersforum about Semois. www.pijprokersforum.nl/index.php?sid=5064d86d506cf92350f759eefaa33d77
I just received a brick of this and I'm smoking it as I watch this. This review is on point. I'd like to know how this blend is after some rehydration.
Great review, La Brumeuse is something I try to keep on hand now because it is absolutely unique. One thing all the reviews of it have in common, whether the reviewer likes it or not, is the attempt to categorize it with other pipe tobaccos, and everyone fails because it's so different. I really enjoy it. I agree that it seems to do best in a wide somewhat shallow bowl.
I just got some of this from a friend. it's very good and very different. I actually tasted mushrooms along with that floral note you spoke of. I liked it alot.
Very interesting to hear your comments on this. I'm a relatively new pipe smoker and have only really smoked English blends, but recently, I was given a brick of this from someone who had been on holiday to Belgium, and quite frankly, it's rapidly becoming my favourite tobacco to smoke. Perhaps its my relative new-comer status and the fact I haven't really smoked that many tobaccos prior to trying La Brumeuse that leads me to enjoy it more than the other tobaccos I've tried. It's also interesting that you got the similar tastes to what I get with this tobacco, except I'd say it was more floral than tea-like, although that is definitely a subjective view.
+BadlanderOutsider - It definitely is unique. Perhaps you took to it more easily because you didn't have as many preconceived notions about what pipe tobacco is "supposed to taste like."
Excellent very full flavoured tobacco. It smokes very well and almost no relights. I found a lot of stems, which I always remove in all my tobaccos. I did humidify the tobacco so I can get it to release more of it's ammonia and it much smoother. Dries the mouth and has a leathery taste. Does burn quickly and one bowl satisfies you.
Hey, Bradley! Wow, I didn't realize you'd done this review. I think it may be from before my SNT times. It's the same producer as the Reserve du Patron that I sent you a question about. Anyway, I'll peruse your review now...
Great review,I speak French and on UA-cam M.Manil tell that in fact it's a blend .23 years ago a friend give him a recipe ,so he had 10 to" 15% of "secret very fine tobacco" because the semois is a bad burner.Well this "secret tobacco" must be gun powder because has you said it burn like crazy ! I smoke this tobacco for quiet a time and must say that you nailed that review
Hello sir Bradley thanks for another great review. I made an order for Orlik golden sliced and Escudo navy rolls based on your previous recommendation. If you haven't already, will you show off your pipes in a future video? For a Sunday smoke perhaps? I love the light brown Savinelli rusticated pipe you have.. I'm on the look out for one of those babies

La Brumeuse roughly translates to 'hipster's dream.' Relatively-unknown and mysterious tobacco grown in a misty french village; untouched by time- Blended in a basement by a french peasant. I'm sure more than one hipster has enough bricks of this cellared to build a 'tiny house.' I just ordered Reserve du Patron, as they were out of Brumeuse- Hope it's as enjoyable. Great review, man.
great video, may have to pick some up. it's funny that $24 is expensive for 100g. Here in Ontario, after provincial tobacco tax, most 50g tin's are about $37. This stuff would be a deal even with the exchange rate.
Well, perhaps this will be one to add to a random order if/when I send one out. I like the speed of smoke (though the hot burn makes me nervous) and I came over to pipes from cigars, so that taste should be pleasing. We shall see.
Have you ever tried the "La Brumeuse" that you hydrated? How did it go? I just got some of this. Yes it is unique, and I get a most wonderful flavor on the retro-hale. I can't put a finger on it, but it was wonderful. A few moths back I purchased "Le Petite Robin." It is Semois, but Vincent adds a secret tobacco. Most think it is a certain VA, because it smooths & sweetens the smoke. It's a favorite of mine.
Continuing with this, that retro-hale flavor resembles corn. Yes, it was in an MM cob, but very experienced ones, so it wasn't the corn flavor that one gets with a new cob. I really like this, but love the "Petite Robbin" even more. You should give it a try.
It reminds me of some "nightmare to iron" shirts i've owned. Always liked the look, couldn't stand the work. Is that shirt more perm press? The ones i had sure weren't.
I brought some of this had a couple of bowls but really wasn't keen. Rather than getting rid of it I wondered if there was anyone in England that might want the rest of the pack as I would happily post it to them.

Not la "brou-mouze"(?), it is : la bru-meuh-ze": "sadly the "u" in "bru" has no equivalent in English, anyway it is not "ou" like in "you"; also the "eu" in "brumeuse" sounds like "eu" in "euphoria", "euthanasia", you don't say 'ouphoria" or "'outhanasia". Thanks for the rest, interesting tobacco.

As fast as it burns, does it leave you wanting another bowl? If so do you pack some more or change tobaccos to get that satisfied, good with that smoke feeling?
+Justin Wilson - Sometimes it leaves me unsatisfied. If it's packed tightly in a large, wide bowl though, it lasts about as long as a typical blend.
I mix it 50/50 with a good Dunhill Virginia blend like Three Year Matured. Exquisite!
Hey Bradly, did you ever rehydrate this tobacco and if so how did it turn out. I've been smoking this I love it
how was the rehydrated stuff?
thanks for review this tobacco :)
