- I show you how to turn off or on the screen reader/Talk Back/voice assistant (audio guide) on all Roku TV (Smart TV). This audio guide reads text and all that is on the screen typically for the seeing impaired. This should work on all Roku TV brands.. TCL Roku TV, Hisense Roku TV, JVC Roku TV, Onn. Roku TV, Element Roku TV, Westinghouse Roku TV, etc. Hope this helps.

So I'm in the shower and it's after 10 p.m. My wife is a nurse and works the night shift. My 6 year old daughter comes running in the bathroom in complete tears and freaking out. She kept telling me the TV was talking to her. So when I get out and check it out it's this freaking annoying chick that wouldn't shut up. So thank you so much for this video. She's calm now and falling asleep to Icarly.

So frustrating and the ladies voice used for the “Screen Reader” is past the annoying point.
I was glad to put finally put that feature in the “OFF” selection!

Disabling "Screen Reader" on some Roku devices works in the event you do not have "Audio Guide" as an option

gwen, I had the same issue...No Audio guide but tried Screen reader. If I would have continued reading the comments I would have found out that you had to find the same way. This needs to be added to the video at least for anyone having a new model JVC.

I was relaxing to a video on UA-cam but then my fiancé wakes up and decides he wants to change to something else. He starts talking about he doesn’t know how to go back or anything. All of a sudden I’m hearing an extra voice coming through the speakers and I don’t know what’s going on. Oh my! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Couldn't manuever to CC icon on a video, but menu popped up and I set the audio screenreader instead. Unable to get THAT screen back to "Undo" my error. Thought my TV life was over-forever. Why would anyone ever want to hear that voice constantly for any reason-Do not know. I am forever grateful for yor help. My BP has come down below 200 thanks to you.

There's a shortcut way to do this!! I only know this bcuz my two year old is the one who always turns on audio guide when playing with the remote, and I actually turned it off this "shortcut" way once before! I of course forgot how to do it, so here I am on this video lol

I love the screen reader since my set is far away and hard to read the screen. It can be turned on and off somehow accidentally but Roku does not tell us which button or combination of buttons does that. Roku is a junk product, always needs rebooting, locks up all the time, but once you have it working, it's the only thing out there. I'm surprised Apple does not come in and knock their blocks off with a decent piece of hardware for TV watching.

I have a few roku players, one for each tv., my newest one almost completely follow this except at :42 when you say go to auto guide (mine does not have audio guide), but at the same spot my roku says..... "Screen Reader".... I tried this and it worked........I was so glad to get rid of this annoying voice talking over my speakers.........thanks for posting this video.........since this roku is newer than my other ones, I guess the changed a few words.....(I wish they would not do this). thanks for taking your time to help us out..........this made my day!!!!
