  • The last video showed the most basic way of how to perform a Double Deviation rescue. But a Rope Access Level 3 should know more ways to Rome. Today we get into a bit more advanced method of passing a Double Deviation with a casualty. There is a potential for some fall potential if you are not very careful and you have to make an extra step to mitigate that risk. Watch the video to find out what it is!

    I've seen others use this method but I've never really understood it... unit now! The way I've been doing it needs a Grillon connected to the deviation and move the carabiners from below to above - but this method just steals the casualty's gear. Awesome. I'll try it next time I'm training.

      @TheRopeAccessChannel  Рік тому +1

      That is great 😃😃
      The Grillon way is simpler and easier to explain.
      With this method the chance of making a mistake are a bit higher, because you need to manage that last asap and backup rope properly.

    Thank you for showing another method for this, this way just looks overly complicated though, however, it's a good thing to see extra methods of doing any of the tasks we do. Great content and editing and I like how you put the subtitles on the screen saying the funny stuff about what you are thinking. Awesome video, thank you, Jim H.

      Thanks Jim 🙏🏻.
      I agree this method is complicated. When deviations are rigged improperly (meaning to large) it is a bit easier to pass this way than with a Grillon I think.
      Like you said, it’s another option. Another tool in the box of you will👍🏼

    I like it could come in handy for some situations, if you have no grillon or the deviation is a bit of a nightmare cause you pissed off the assessor 🤣Great explanations of the common errors in these maneuvers 🙌

    Alternatively, install casualty's descender on backup line below deviation, pull slack, descend main line until loadsharing, transfer asap to main line (the rope with the descender above the deviation) and remove descender, install second asap below deviation, remove top asap, add friction and continue descent.

      Isn’t that what I did in this video? Or am I reading to fast and missing what I did different?

      @Random13 Рік тому +1

      You did great, I just feel initially installing the Asap below the deviation was an unnecessary step

    Awsome videos Dude ! Just have a question if you pause at the 4.00 min mark. Just wondering if it would be considered a single point if the red line were to fail and the green line failed just above the descender. Potentially deploying the absorber with a 2 person load into the hazard.

    • @TheRopeAccessChannel
      @TheRopeAccessChannel  Рік тому

      Thanks man😃😃😃🙏🏼
      Multiple things are going on with your question.
      1) If I read your question correctly you are saying that if the red line and green line failed at the same time? That would be no point instead of a single point... If we start to think like this we will need to start climbing with 3 or 4 ropes.... So lets not go there. We have two ropes and one of those is the safety.
      2) You speak of the absorber deploying with a 2 person load into the hazard.:
      -The absorber is good for 2 persons, so no issue there
      -There should be no hazard to swing into. If there is, the rigging is setup wrong. The hazard should be a couple of meters below the deviation.
      Does that answers your question?
