I'm a Norwegian and I approve of this video. And indeed I am also called Hanssen Johansen Larsen Kristiansen. I particularly loved hearing our beautiful national anthem, and the way you told me you "love the gate" at the end.
Double threshold, 22 miles. You are definitely a pro. Mere mortal can't even comprehend how much that is. I had to pause to process how insane that is. Cause a 22 mile run is enough to kick my butt so would a threshold day. Together is not just twice as hard but exponentially harder. Us plebeians can only watch in awe :)
Flagstaff looks awesome. Random big thank you to your channels… your various house diy projects helped to convince us to do a big move with lots of work required but so glad we did it! Just need Phily to come round with her sledgehammer to take out a fireplace monstrosity. Also listened to Ashley Giles saying not to try the removals all yourself, didn’t work out as expensive as I thought and it made things so much easier!
That was a beast of a day! Can’t wait to see how you get on in Berlin. After all this time your videos still make me laugh so much! Keep doing what you’re doing 👌👌🤣🤣
Your Norwegian Prof is Peak Phily 👌 Highest overlap between entertainment value and educational value. More of this please 🙏 Also very clear now that Double T was a massive contributor to smashing Berlin! Would you do a video revisiting Double T?! how Double T evolved for you over the block? How the volume on that day changed (or not), how your pace improved, how it helped you mentally for Berlin? How should intermediate runners introduce Double T? How your threshold pace compares to your Berlin pace…? Would be great value 💪🫶 Love the Grind!
13 minutes in and I have to comment here already that I absolutely loved the "Hanssen Johansen Larsen Kristiansen" part. I am laughing my ass off haha 😂
I hope you see this comment. My six month old absolutely loves watching you talk. Anytime the camera is directly on your face and you’re just talking. She pays such close attention. It’s pretty cute.
Saying "No!" to pre-run Granola is something I've learned from you. My long runs thank you for that! Given my normal brekkie is Granola, Skyr and berries... Instant Oats is the Sunday norm now. Looking forward to this week's 5 x 1 mile threshy session although the paces for the last two reps look 'challenging'. Thanks slightly evil coach. Not quite up for a double-thresh day though! I remember watching some of Lucy Charles-Barclay's trining videos and watching her do the lactate testing between bike reps - she used her ear. As a data-junkie I approve!
@@AugherAndy It takes a bit more digesting I guess . Certainly for me and, from Phily's comments on the subject, it's somehting that can lead to mid-run mishaps.
@@PhilyBowden I nearly had an accident doing some intervals the other day - I think it was some beans from the night before. Would not have been nearly as amusing as Daniel's editing in of that gushing gray [grey] water 😂
Daniel please please post a video on your channel. Your viewers miss you we don't care if you are not running everyday we just enjoy watching your daily routine!! Miss you a bunch and the blonde hair is nice. See a video soon?😊😊
Hey! The new website is class 👌🏼 Have you deleted the cross training and 10k plans? The cross training one has saved me this year but it says “link not found now”. I’ll be so sad if it’s gone. Also, good luck in flag, you’re crushing it ❤️
I think the main advantage of these days (ignore al the science stuff) is that, if you add all the warmups and cooldowns to the distance run in the two sessions, you must end up with a pretty big volume day. And because the threshold sessions are basically interval sessions (with breaks between the efforts) a good part of this volume is done faster that you would in a single long run. Nothing terribly new to all this; in the '50s and '60s loads of runners trained on two interval sessions a day, 5-6 days a week.
Halloween costume unlocked! Hanssen Johansen Larsen Kristiansen! The good professor needs to talk next time about untangling multiple variables (distinguishing the effects of coaching, elevation, double T, experience, etc.).
Love your videos! I was wondering do you have any advice / know what professional to ask about issues with needing the loo during runs? It’s the number 1 thing affecting my performance 😅
Meal between workouts: Almond butter and banana sandwich on gluten free toast. Barney butter and Canyon bake house whole grain bread, both available at whole foods, where it looks like you get your ketchup. My GI tract is the worst, and this stuff never bothers me. Just give it a try...
i wonder if you would have the same benefit of double T if you did an evening session followed by a morning session. Is there an optimal number of hours between sessions?
I don’t know! I believe in Bakken’s blog it says timing between workouts isn’t important provided adequate recovery has happened (subjective), but I’d guess that sleeping between them would be at odds with having distinct hard vs easy days?
Question! So what exactly does the threshold data from the lab tell you? It gives you an approximate pace, right? But a pace for what exactly? Because (if I understand correctly), your threshold effort is going to change based on the distance. So for example, your threshold pace while running 2mi splits is going to be slower than your pace when doing 800m repeats. Or am I incorrect in thinking that? I'm still trying to learn.
Where do you get your running gear? Feel like running tops are boring looking but I like the style of yours. The main reason I bought your merch was because it was a good looking running top. Oh and yeah wanted to support you. Something like that!😅
Body Glide and Vaseline are common for chaffing, but take a tip from the ultra running world and try diaper cream. It works well and absolutely doesn’t rub off. Might make your running gear a little harder to clean.
@@PhilyBowdenBoudreaux’s Butt Paste is a favorite of a friend of mine. If you’ve ever used zinc oxide on your nose for sun protection, this is much the same stuff. Use a wipe or Kleenex to apply, as it’s hard to get off your hands.
