My Favorite interpretation of this song out there. Truly, in my humble opinion, captures the essence of the poem perfectly and was sung and played with passion.
In the Guardian (29 September 2024), Roderick Williams interviewed by Fiona Maddocks, names this as his current favourite song. "It's an absolute banger". Are you by any chance related??
@@janepeckham9089 Bless you for your kind comments. I was using a 'period' piano, a small baby grand. My lovely husband Mr. H-C has recorded many Dring Art songs, we based our performances on Dring's own recordings. Dring didn't like anything done too 'straight', she was an innovator, improviser, clever lady. Wishing you well, Ro Hancock-Child (Dring's biographer).

Absolute banger, added to the party playlist about to go ham!

No - the note is good and solid - it's the UA-cam reproduction that is faulty. I know, because I made the recording. Thanks for listening. Ro x
This is such a beautiful song. I'm learning to sing it now.
Fabulous setting. Lovely performance. Thanks! I heard a 'revered' baritone murder it on R3 this morning. This is a corrective....
