  • Because a lot of people liked my previous gift card (Fully 3D-printable wind-up car gift card: www.thingivers...) and asked if I could create another version of it, I decided to make this Leonardo Davinci inspired catapult gift card. The whole card can be 3D-printed in one go, you don't need any extra parts except for some wire. The card can be printed without support and the print time is about 3 hours with a 0.2mm layer height. The card can be printed using regular PLA. The whole thing is designed to be able to snap fit together so there's no glue necessary. I did a lot of test prints of different parts of the model until I got some consistent and good results. It is of course possible that depending on which printer you use the result may vary. You can always let me know in the comments which parts work for you and which don't so I can create a second version of the model. I added all the parts seperately to for the people who just want to print the catapult and do not have the intend to give the card as a present.

    Thanks dude.., But, is there any trick from assembly design to multiple bodies for printing 1:01 ? I did some search without any luck.

      @BrianBrocken  2 роки тому +1

      Hello Angga, There's no real trick to it. First you design your model and then you arrange all the individual parts flat on the grid manually with the move command and then you draw runners between all the parts to connect them like in a model kit.

    Just to answer some frequently asked questions:
    -The 3D design CAD software used in the video is Autodesk fusion 360, which is free for students and startups.
    -There's a complete step by step manual available for this catapult gift card, you can find it on thingiverse and on hackaday.io, links are in the description.
    -Links to the STL-files and instructions are in the video description.

    Is there a trick to getting the release lever into the holder (number 7 in the instructions)? I've broken 3 of the holder tabs trying to put it together and the video cuts to it being installed already. :)

      I’m aware of the issue and I’m working on an updated version but currently all my projects are on hold because I have exams.

    Very cool! 😎 Thanks!
    I got this as a gift. My only real problem is figuring out how to wind the string. Even when I watch the video at 0.25 X speed, it's too fast to see how to do it. I'll take a look on thingiverse. Still very fun!

    I had to resize a number of parts to make them fit, so no trimming and sanding. I can now give them to my grand kids and don't drive the parents crazy. On the trigger-beam. There are two things to look for. First - on the cross support trim any over hang the might interfere with the arm. Second - if your slicer is set for brim. make sure to remove any over hang from the brim. This correct the problem for me.
