It will take me longer to complete this course than I anticipated. Block 1 lesson 13 next and I do spend at Least 6 to 7 hours on the lesson , on my day off work, but very pleased where I am going and learning.
Hey Diana that's great to hear you are pleased with the direction and what you're learning. Since you're a student, definitely take advantage of the community in the Evolve study group and your access to one-on-one meetings to see where you could be going through the program more quickly... without rushing 😊~ Daniel
Glad we can help you on your journey 😊 I was also a slow student! But one of the silver linings was that I was also able to take my time to contest and digest the new information for a more full understanding 😊 keep up the good work! ~ Daniel
@@evolveartist It's rough sometimes due to not always having time to paint and my issues with gradients. But I'm having a great time despite all my issues.
@@4566Iggy I hear you, it can be tough when life gets in the way. If you are having issues with gradients, reach out to the instructors and maybe book a one-on-one to help you break through 😊 ~ Daniel
I have my own learning plan. Struggle, spend lots of money on useless supplies. Paint sporadically and have little gain. I should probably market this plan.
😂😂 sounds like a winning formula to me. Feel free to reach out to me and ask for some coaching help. This link is typically for art critiques, but if you mention learning plan in the response form we can talk about that: bit.ly/evolve-art-critique
wow very well put using self-defense as an example! Bruce Lee used the same quote! i would rather fight a man who knows a bunch of different styles than a man who has perfected a few moves! i was a professional artist for years before i studied under Kevin and within a few months dramatically improved and decided i just needed to apply the work but wished i could have stayed a bit longer i highly recommend this course to not just beginners! but a beginner is saving years of trial and error!
I never comment under UA-cam videos but this is so intriguing. Since a child I’ve always wished i was talented in the arts, especially painting but i put the self doubt into my head an could never fully get started. Is this program really worth it?
Hey Andre, obviously I’m a bit biased as a representative of Evolve, but YES it is! 😁 if it wasn’t, I wouldn’t be making all this content for their channel! But let me point you to Mithrilda, a UA-camr who has been sharing her journey in the Evolve program - ua-cam.com/play/PLlBZ6D4J51BPZQ3ZVIoPf5Lw6sjrW1_uf.html You can also learn more about the evolve program on our website: EvolveArtist.com And if you have any questions, you can just ask me here 😊 ~ Daniel
Andre, as an Evolve student and former art teacher (BC- before children) and now ABA Therapist for my son with special needs, I can assure you this program is brilliant and worth the investment. I have already saved for the advanced block. I am going in bursts through the program due to other commitments, and miss doing it when I can't, but I have no doubt I will get to the pro realism level. Perhaps you are already an Evolve student as I see your comment was 11 months ago? I can tell you, I am saving for my three kids to do the program if they want to at the right time, that's how fast and awesome it is.
Hi Kevin and Daniel, While one year may sound fair for complete beginners there maybe a lot of people who have already learned to draw and paint quite a bit that you miss. How about a new 3 or 6 month program that will accept people who can answer a test from you guys and especially if they have more time to follow it such as people either on retirement or who are determined to spend a lot of time on your program to get a new skill or hobby? Looking forward to your feedback. Andrew
Hey Andrew! Great question. First off, the program goes at your own pace, so someone like you would probably move through the program more quickly than others. Our current record for finishing the program is 3 months. (They weren’t rushing, just put in a lot of time in a short span). But the program would stay the same. In our live webinars people often ask us if they could skip ahead of the foundational Blocks, and Kevin provides a strong explanation but basically the answer is that even working pros who come to us to firm up their skills have to start in the beginning (Foundation Program). One of my favorite quotes from Kevin is “there’s no such thing as advanced techniques… there’s only an advanced understanding of the fundamentals.” Right in Block of our program 1 we teach you the fundamentals. Even for advanced artists, a strong understanding in the fundamentals IS what you need. If there are gaps in your knowledge, it will be found there, not in our advanced program. And the advanced program is useless without the foundation program. That all being said, we work closely with our students, monitoring their growth, and in certain cases we have allowed a student to skip an exercise if we can see that they already have the skill locked in. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any follow up questions to this. 🙂 ~ Daniel
“Cut to the chase” is what he’s saying….I think it’s also dropping the drawing part. Dali said the same thing in his book, not that drawing isn’t important. Just that it’s not important immediately.
Dali and Da Vinci both said to spend 6 months painting monochromes from life of cast and statues. Sounds like evolve does the same thing in a way. Can’t wait to start!
@@Adampennmoody that’s awesome Adam! I actually didn’t know that Dali and Da Vinci recommended that. But yes that’s essentially what it is! Learn value and edge first so that when you get to drawing, you can build form right into it. Learning value and edge also helps your brain start connecting much needed neural pathways to see relationships more critically, which is a huge boost to learning drawing! I talk about this more here: ua-cam.com/video/diwD3ykRs74/v-deo.html 🙂 when do you plan on joining Evolve? ~ Daniel
