Actually, the reason the horse's face is blurred is because back when photos took 30 seconds just to take and days to convert to actual photos, anything that moves while the picture was taken was immediately blurred out. Good comment, though.

You do realize that this music this music was played in a saloon of places, where respectable men took to the ale tankard -the beer hose-, women let their hair down, pickpockets come and go like flies, and the saloon owner's running a whorehouse upstairs. Just saying, not really a respectable place to be tickling ivories.
Perfect mood music as I'm writing a novel set in the early 1900s-1910s. This is the kind of stuff my character heard as a little boy living in a little Kansas cattle town.
IMAGINE: The Tennessee sun weighs heavily on your back as you slowly make your way through the town, your dry throat just aching for a local beer. You give a friendly nod to Mr. Robinson, the local blacksmith, and smile at a couple of kids as you pass them. Then all of a sudden you pass a saloon you’d never seen before in all your life. A faint whistling is drawing you to it like a moth to a flame. Most beautiful thing you ever did hear. As you enter you're greeted by a thick cloud of cigarette smoke and the smell of homemade beef jerky. You order your favourite beer. In the corner of the room is the man responsible for the beautiful music. Cowboy hat right down to his nose. Straw in mouth. Banjo in hand. You can’t help but smile while you have your first sip of beer as he fiddles and whistles away. See where I’m from we don’t need any “Mozart” or “ tchaikovsky”. Just a man at one with his banjo, plain and simple. Despite being in a new place you just had to chuckle and say, “Feels good to be home.”
This hit hard. I think I might have been a woman in the 1800’s in my past life. The, “feels good to be home”, part really hit home for me. I feel like I just slide right into this lifestyle like it’s the only one I’ve ever lived. It’s kind of scary tbh
What you are seeing is the horse moving its head while the exposure was taking place. In the 1850s through the turn of the last century photo processes required long exposure times. The subjects had to stay still for at least ten seconds, often longer.

Back when a saloon was four walls, one door, one window, a bar keep slinging whiskey, and a simple sign reading: SALOON. That's all that was needed back then. No flashy lights, no neon, no gimmicks and crap. If women then needed to find their husband, often times they knew where to look.
Well it's always nice to see a fellow railroad worker in the comment section. I'm planning on making my own backyard railroad; are you experienced in laying tracks?
I remember the first song growing up!!!! I was sitting at a table in my dad's saloon. I had the piano player play this while I looked at the gossip column in the newspaper👍🏻
I wonder how (or if ?) simple saloon piano players managed to play such a complex ragtime music ! Anyway the piano sounds great ! (this music makes me feel good and happy !) [Thanks ! and hearty greetings from France ! 🇨🇵]

The piano player was an important employee in the saloon. That's why the put up signs requesting that patrons not shoot him.
Please do not shoot the pianist; he is doing his best.
Sure...pre duels and chill moments in the wild west must have the proper soundtrack...kinda mandatory
Yes if you shot the pianist you were outcast he was the towns entertainment and he had a hard job learning and memorizing sheet music

Those were the times friend those were the times
+CornerrecordZ Back in my day we had good old rape
Captain Butter haha! true that!
Ill tell u even better times ... Well upto 1863
Was the best times to be alive
Cool, I remember how I went into the saloon and there the pianist played maple leaf rag, it was in 1903, Kentucky))) Those were glorious times...
Work is work, five card shuffle, olde timey, frog legs rag, and breaktime are my favorites! :3
You should have included Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin :)
Proxtiv I agree but I think they are obeying the time period. He was born in 1868... who knows why they left that awesome piece out?
gulgul2006 frog legs rag is one hear that was around Joplins time, it was published in 1906
I think rag time is more 1900-1910ish. Cowboys and the Wild West was dying or dead by this point
I feel like I'm the cowboy who was relaxing and having a cup of drink in the saloon while listen to these songs
No you're not danny
@@Solobuddyyou mean lenny?
LENEHHHH , where the hell are you??? LENNEEHHHHH !!!!
I’m so happy they uploaded this to UA-cam so we can hear it
people in the saloon: *shooting and killing eachother*
the pianist:
HSHSHSH
Back when a saloon was four walls, one door, one window, a bar keep slinging whiskey, and a simple sign reading: SALOON.
That's all that was needed back then. No flashy lights, no neon, no gimmicks and crap.
If women then needed to find their husband, often times they knew where to look.
Simpler times.
yo aparezco en esa fotografía, soy el del caballo de la derecha ,que buenos tiempos aquellos
That piano is good deal better tuned and maintained than I imagine any saloon piano ever was.
"Hahahaha... That's great, partner."
Arthur Morgan, 1899.
It took me about 43 years, but now I found a music compilation I like, thank you Uploader!!!
“I’m looking for a yellow-belly in here to get him either dead or alive!...” .. *piano stops with sudden quietness*
Pov: You are drunk with Lenny
Just the thing to wet yer whistle after a long dusty cattle drive. Barkeep! Sasparillas all around!(cowboys groan)
This video makes me crave a Lambs Fry and a deluxe bath.
Watching from Greece.hi everybody.
Great old music.oldies but goodies.
"You see that's the thing, cause it- Lenny? Lenny where are you? LENNNNEY"
Man I love me some 80's music
Makes me wanna drink a tankard of whiskey after a long day of laying train tracks
Well it's always nice to see a fellow railroad worker in the comment section. I'm planning on making my own backyard railroad; are you experienced in laying tracks?
You scrolled so far that you arrived at my saloon, are ya just gonna stand there or are ya gonna order something, cowboy?
I'll have a glass of whiskey on the rocks please
I don’t listen to this music on the daily but when I do I enjoy the hell out of it
Saloon in complete chaos
the pianist:
I feel like I don't have any teeth and I'm really, really drunk!
Somebody: *walks in*
The entire bar: *MUSIC STOPS CHAIRS SCRATCHING THE FLOOR AS PEOPLE TURN AND STARE AT YOU FOR 5 SECONDS*
MORE!? I LOVE saloon / honkytonk piano. May it NEVER disappear!
I remember the first song growing up!!!! I was sitting at a table in my dad's saloon. I had the piano player play this while I looked at the gossip column in the newspaper👍🏻
This music makes everything more funnier xD I mean I heard that while playing skyrim and i smiled the whole time! Nice music :)
Yeah even this comments grammar
*Clint Eastwood has joined the chat*
Makes me proud to be called Billy, really does.
10:42 *when the moustache twiddling villain ties you to the railroad tracks*
Hahaha
good times and good drinks to these classics
sounds better at 1.25 speed
+James Roberts
You're right.
+MrBonki Well, we all have our opinions.
Agreed... all we need now is the visual of folks fighting in the saloon!
1.25 is modern compressed music.
I think it sounds good on piano.
Saloon fight starts
I'm convinced I lived in the south west (where I'm coincidentally living [temporarily]) in a former life.
I wonder how (or if ?) simple saloon piano players managed to play such a complex ragtime music ! Anyway the piano sounds great !
(this music makes me feel good and happy !)
[Thanks ! and hearty greetings from France ! 🇨🇵]
honestly, maybe just accidental or for fun
No no no my favourite ragtime songs are NOT all Kevin Macleod
