Thank you for saving these longer lessons. I always listen to both 'versions'. Knowing about the 'fourth' verse of "Come Thou Fount" was interesting, but actually we usually sing verses one, two and four. There is also another verse (three) that we usually don't sing either: Jesus sought me when a stranger, Wandering from the fold of God; He, to rescue me from danger, Interposed His precious blood; How His kindness yet pursues me Mortal tongue can never tell, Clothed in flesh, till death shall loose me I cannot proclaim it well.
I have to teach today,I did not know how to put everything that I studied together, thanks for a prayer that was asked by me, it was answered by this lesson.
These extended episodes are such a treasure to me. Thank you for reposting them for our convenience. Love you, Bro. Halverson ❤️ thank you for all your efforts to teach us the scriptures. You've made a difference in my walk in mortality.
That was a profound lesson and I know there's a lot that I still need to learn. Gracias por mostrarnos la manera de obtener más sabiduría para beneficio nuestro y de todos los que nos rodean. El arrepentimiento y la humildad son la parte clave para nuestra Salvación. Bendiciones para Ud. hermano y su familia.
I think Job will thank you for helping us understand his story. I know I thank you for helping me to understand better his story along with all the others. Thank you.
It is only through the blood of Christ that we can receive our salvation, He died on the cross so we could walk with Him and the Father, this is where it all began, on the cross, this is where life begins, John 8:12 I am the light of the world, He who follows me will not walk in darkness but have the light of life. The cross represents life, the life that is within all who believe in Him, the true Jesus of the bible.
Brother Halverson, I love you and listen to you as much as possible. In this episode, you commit a terrible faux pas. At about 1:44:45. you say "my father was an ex-marine". There are no ex-marines. My deceased father was and is a Marine. His spirit rose up within me upon hearing this. Marines volunteer to go first in battle, to descend into hell for the heavenly cause. Once you have that Spirit, it is with you always. My father had many faults, but my love for is increasing as I write this. May your love for your father, and the love for all fathers increase as this is read. For I write in the name of Jesus Christ.
Have you ever noticed what is written in Alma 5:7 "Behold, he changed their hearts; yea, he awakened them out of a deep sleep, and they awoke unto God. Behold, they were in the midst of darkness; nevertheless, their souls were illuminated by the light of the everlasting word; yea, they were encircled about by the bands of death, and the chains of hell, and an everlasting destruction did await them". One other time in the Book of Mormon that the "chains of hell" is mentioned is Alma 12:11 ("And they that will harden their hearts, to them is given the lesser portion of the word until they know nothing concerning his mysteries; and then they are taken captive by the devil, and led by his will down to destruction. Now this is what is meant by the chains of hell"). The same expression "chains of hell" is used to describe those in the paradise compartment of spirit prison, those awaiting the advent of Christ to them. From Doctrine and Covenants 138:23 - "And the saints rejoiced in their redemption, and bowed the knee and acknowledged the Son of God as their Redeemer and Deliverer from death and the chains of hell". Then Alma 5:15. "Do ye exercise faith in the redemption of him who created you? Do you look forward with an eye of faith, and view this mortal body raised in immortality, and this corruption raised in incorruption, to stand before God to be judged according to the deeds which have been done in the mortal body?" Why are we not judged by deeds done in the spirit world after death?
The mighty change is done by God - our hearts are changed, and we become new creatures through Christ, not by our own actions. Then you tell a story about a missionary cleaning an apartment; this is not a mighty change. We cannot do it ourselves by trying really hard - the Savior does it and changes our hearts. It is called the baptism of fire and the holy ghost, an event that is one of the key steps of the doctrine of Christ (2 Nephi 31:17). I wish it was taught more clearly in the church today. It is no wonder that members are bored and walk away since all they are taught to do is endure to the end.
Christ's image engraven in our countenances- this is what is referred to in the Revelation of Jesus Christ to His servant John "They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. Rev 22:4
Thank you for all the work you put into these videos!
This might be my favorite lesson of all. Maybe tied with Jacob 5. I have lots of favorites! 😊 Thank you, Brother Halverson!

Such a good feeling. I’ve always loved these chapters. My old stake president called them the gut check chapters.

Is it possible to find out what version of the ‘How can I keep from singing’ is playing in the background?
