Part of me has the headcanon that the Nahobino was a secret fan of tokusatsu and shōnen manga growing up, so while he looks stoic throughout the game, I imagine him geeking out on the inside every time he uses these moves, much to Aogami's never-ending confusion.
One thing I like about nahobino's signature moves is that it foreshadowing agomai's true identity: susanoo. Sunch a ruinous thunder, the sword like attacks, and the ocean wave attack. Also that new girl from smt vengeance is going to be amaterasu
I think you severely underestimate Kannabi Veil and Revival Chant. Traditional buffing and healing can be done by plenty of other demons, whereas only Nahobino can do this. Revival Chant especially is useful because of how important Press Turn Economy is.
I can only speak to my own experiences, and for me personally, they were just never that useful. If they helped you out, that's great! But they could've been the two most useful abilities in the game and I'd still have probably had them pretty low based on their boring animations.
Dude, I kept Revival Chant from the moment I first got it and Had Crit Aura and Murakumo as my other non-passive skills. Seriously, it sucks when a Demon in Mainline SMT dies since the Press turn system makes Revival skills and Items basically worthless (1 action to revive, another to possibly heal it, and the another to Summon it back). Sucks even more if the demon in question was your main healer. Revival chant both reviving the demon AND Summoning it back saved me alot of trouble (Didn't test if it was good against Demi Fiend though since I want to prepare a squad before fighting him).
I did a magic build my first play-through so I’ll argue that Ruinous Thunder could be a bit higher on the list. Sure it’s only heavy damage but you get it early so it’s really useful for a while. You get a Ziodyne spell when you’ll have only the mid tier spells for a while, and it costs the same MP as a mid tier so it even works as a more efficient ziodyne
Ya know what, that's totally fair! I admit I don't do magic builds for protagonists very often, so I can see how I may have totally overlooked that strategy!
I enjoyed Nahobino's magic skills in V. My boss went phys and I went magic on release. He was jealous of how cool my skills were, and I was jealous of the easy damage he could do.
Funny you mention that last bit, because i actually made a Smash moveset for the Nahobino and I made Wrath Tempest his Up Special while his final Smash was Otogamaki Critical
I'd have probably had Sakanagi as the Up Special since he does that big uppercut and it would make sense as a recovery move, as Up Specials so often are.

Now that the new V is revealed, I'm excited to see all the new and returning Demons in the game. Lilith has one heck of a redesign though, probably one of the best.

Sakanagi is really stupid, in that the skill description lies to you. It says it deals medium damage, but its Base Power is the exact same as Freikugel at 230 (Murakumo is at 275, 330 on crit). Freikugel does have a higher crit rate, but Sakanagi is a stupid strong skill to get so early.
Additionally, and this is only going to be relevant on a NG+ run where you carry everything over, Sakanagi with max affinity in Almighty costs a measly 11 MP. This is less than half of Murakumo, which will cost 27 in the same circumstances.
Wait was skill is better than kannabi veil? To my knowledge it's the only skill in the game that you can stack with marakukaja? It even has its own status icon instead of it being the defense Boost icon
I feel like part of the reason why Nahobino doesn’t have as many sinister moments is because he is a generally more benevolent protagonist but the only other mainline games Ive played are SJ and IV so I my view might not be the popular opinion
Honestly? I like this list and, surprisingly, everything fits in the order I wouldve placed together. I never really gave Revival Chant, Divine Arrowfall or Thassalic Calamity really much attention until only recently and Kannabi Veil is good, but situational to a steep decree. If there is one thing i wished they DO change with any skills, it would HAVE to be Ruinous Thunder. Medium Damage for such a cool looking ability and having on 2/3 lesser MP cost than say Mazionga -- hell, even Ziodyne -- is criminal.
Btw sakanagi despite being classified as medium almighty damage while it has a base power of 230 which is the same as freikugel, and tandava and stronger than megidoloan and for 20 sp. Untill you get murakumo and even after if you want a cheap alternative(until you spend you skill slots on I guess more useful skills) as it costs 20 sp at maximum.
Honestly not even that! Most of this video was made almost a year ago! I figured an enhanced SMTV would've been a no-brainer for the anniversary. Had to sit on it a bit longer than I expected, but it paid off :P

There was one shot of the Nahobino using a new dual sword attack, and there was another shot of him using a Yumi (type of bow) to shoot an arrow into the heavens for almighty damage. And it would be so disappointing if he doesn't get more since apparently every demon is getting a unique skill.
I decided to be uncool and make my Nahobino healer/support on my second playthrough bc going near-full elemental coverage with Alice picking up Dark and Wind in slot 2 just meant that my team became completely static in Act 4. I use Kannabi Veil p much every round in a boss fight, and in Hard Mode that 30% damage reduction regularly saves my butt. I really hope Vengeance gives us more and stronger signature magic skills, though.

Ya know it's funny you mention that. I can't promise WHEN I'll do it, but I recorded a bit of Kartikeya footage in two separate games because he popped up while I was trying to get footage for other videos. Since I have footage of him, I probably will do a video on him sometime this year.
hopfuly the new SMT 5 adds the proto fiend as a playable demon team member it be great you could break up some of the more exclusive protag moves with him to get a good well rounded demon

Bruh Divine Arrowfall is fucking amazing. It deals more damage than Megidola, but less than Megidolaon, and costs less than megido. And those three skills have a ridiculously high mp cost. Divine Arrowfall is better than Murakumo vs multiple enemies, even with Omagatoki: Critical. Also miracle water is straight trash. That animation is so fucking long and slow. Even if it actually healed well I still wouldn't use it. And revival chant is also amazing, Jesus, what is this list.

It, like every other aogami skill, is just another reference to Susano'o, who's a storm god and also an underworld god. Also it's pretty useful against Abdiel, who you fight pretty soon after getting it. I'd say it serves its purpose. Also useful against the abscess with the super strong starting demons.
Honestly agree to disagree on Miracle Water, Kannabi Veil amd Revival Chant While I ran a full on magic offense build on my first playthrough, I've gone a sorta hybrid of phys and support with a little healing too Miracle Water is basically slightly cheaper media, which is unimpressive later but in the early game when most healing is single target, that's rly useful Kannabi Veil is good for if I'm not sure what the opponents omagatoki is going to be used for or I don't have the right dampener, and Revival Chant, as somebody else has said... is insanely good for press turn economy and coming back from an emergency Overall can't disagree with this list tho, at the end f the day we're ranking the sickest shit ever

Revival Chant has the ability not only to resurrect, but auto Summons. *That is vital in boss battles!*

Thallasic Calamity is not actually far from the strongest ice attack. It does slightly higher damage than Barion, but less damage than Glacial blast.
