Probably one of the most well known songs by Elton and Bernie this instant classic comes from the Madman Across the Water album released in 1971. As I know it the song is about Bernie Taupin's girlfriend at the time which explains much of the lyric's meaning. Tiny Dancer was given another huge revival after the movie Almost Famous...which I still haven't seen! In the Key of C and mid tempo this isn't an altogether difficult song to play but Elton's piano playing may be difficult to mimic if you aren't familiar with his style.
With this video you'll see the chords as he plays them, the notes on a traditional sheet music grand staff, as well as a piano roll so you can see the notes as they appear on a keyboard. You are mostly hearing the piano that I have transcribed with a little of the vocal from the original audio. With the MIDI file included you can also trigger a sheet music application, slow down/speed up piano part without quality loss, change the key of the song, loop difficult sections, and much more!

Due to copyright infringement issues and video blocking I am unable to create UA-cam videos for many of the suggestions that I receive in the comments section. I do, however, create videos and MIDI files just like on my channel for clients who would like a specific piano part transcribed for any video or audio file!
Best piano teacher out there.
Too kind Jeremy!
For a rock song, the rate of chord changes is nothing short of stunning. Even in the apparently simple passages, when the piano melody sort of sounds like a rhythmic lullaby, the richness of variations and embellishments is masterful.
I agree, I love songs that were written on the piano. Guitar songs can be so repetitive and stale compared to songs like these. Thanks for watching.
Could you do Bennie and the Jets from 1980 Central Park or Bennie and the Jets from December 14, 1986?
I'll put it in my ever growing list of must do's :-) Thanks for the suggestion!
Excellent!!!
Thanks Ross!
Could you do a more recent live performance of this as I note he plays the intro riff differently.
Tha I you so much for this
Well done...
I haven't seen anyone try tackling Where To Now Saint Peter, though it isn't exactly one of Elton's more popular songs. Wonder if you might that one a whirl.
Thank you, your really are amazing!! With your work I’ve been able to play many Elton John songs. Keep going :)
Pd: I’d really like a transcription of I Think I’m Gonna Kill Myself or the intro of Sad Songs Live London 1993 ( It’s really cool ) 🙏
I have definitely thought of this one! I particularly liked the performance from the Greek Theatre. I will add it to my list!
@@chrisbarkerpiano Cool :D
Amazing as always
Thanks so much Brandon, I appreciate it!
Can you make pls Bennie and the jets live in sydney 1986, or same song but live in central park?
I'll check them out, thanks for the suggestion.
He did one in Tokyo 2001, Id rather just see him do the Piano Solo/ In The Mood version in Sydney 86
Hey there, wonderful transcription! Is the MIDI still available?
These are great- best way to actually learn how Elton actually plays. Can you do Rocket Man from Elton's 60th bday concert?
Can we add Country Comfort and I'm Still Standing to the list too? :)
Thanks Mason, I will put these in my to do list. I'm glad you find these helpful!
Do you think that you could possibly do a transcription of Crocodile Rock from the scene in rocketman i really like the playing there and I know that its not actually Elton but I would really greatly appreciate it.
I make be raked over the coals for this but I haven't actually seen the movie. I'll check it out though for sure, thanks for the suggestion.
Could you please do Saturday nights alright for fighting from Madison square gardens 2007? I’m dying to learn the descending piano riff he does towards the end of the song 😁.
Thanks for the suggestion, can you send a link to the video? It would probably be a while until I do any repeats however.
@@chrisbarkerpiano of course !! ua-cam.com/video/UHtTUVIg06U/v-deo.html that’s the link, thank you so much, I’ll be waiting 😄.
thanks alot!
Thank you! Hope this is helpful.
Hi Chris! Thanks so much for the hard work you put into these transcriptions, they are great! I was wondering if you would be interested in finishing a transcription I have for a live version "Rotten Peaches"? Most of it is done, but some choruses lack a little finesse. If it sounds interesting, could you give me a way to contact you and send you the transcription, so you can take a look?
Hi Ken, I am so sorry I seemed to have overlooked this comment. I absolutely can do that although I'm not sure about doing a partial transcription. Honestly my transcriptions are pretty expensive compared to what you get on other sites. If you are looking for something that is going to translate into sheet music mine are not the best for that. If you want to be able to hear the piano alone that I have recorded into a MIDI format and also have a video just like you see on my channel here then I can definitely do that. If you want to have me give you a quote email the link to chrisbarkersmusic@gmail.com
Thanks!
@@chrisbarkerpiano That´s okay, now it was my turn to be late with the reply. However, thanks so much, I've sent you an e-mail.
How do you download the midi ? It won’t allow me
I think I responded to you but just making sure you were able to download the MIDI file after all.
Is there sheet music available for this?
Unfortunately there is not.
Hey I really like the solo in bennie and the jets 1993 I would love to see how to play it I cant find it anywhere thanks and great video!
If you can send a link I can give it a look, thanks for the suggestion.
@@chrisbarkerpiano Sorry for taking a while ua-cam.com/video/p39rRqim7lE/v-deo.html
This is so interesting, but at rocket speed! How do I slow this down?
Thanks for the question! So I am only familiar with apple product but on the phone and laptop/desktop computers there is an option to slow down or speed up the video. If you are familiar with MIDI files it of course is the best way to rehearse, that does take some knowledge of the format however.
😍
WOW
Can you do rocket man, live in russia 1979, i think it sounds amazing
You are so right, everything from the Russia tour is amazing. Maybe I can do a whole Russia 1979 project? Might be a good idea.
May ihave the sheet music?
Hi Angelo, you are more than welcome to download the midi file which you can print music from. The issue with these files is that they are not recorded to a grid which means it isn't arranged for sheet music. I hope it can at least help you somewhat, thanks for the question.
@@chrisbarkerpiano of course you helped me, i love your videos, your work is really precious for the people who Wants to learn.
Sorry for my bad English, but i'm Italian
