This week, Japan has made a series of moves to strengthen its war fighting machine. Tokyo is planning to 16 ports and airports. Reports say the expanded facilities could serve as staging areas for Japan’s Self-Defence Forces and the Coast Guard. This comes after Tokyo decided to lift curbs on the exports of lethal arms. Tokyo plans to sell a new fighter jet - which is being developed in collaboration with the United Kingdom and Italy. These moves are being seen as a break away from Japan’s pacifist values. Japan should help the Philippines economically and militarily. A strong economy will enable the Philippines to modernize and sttengthen its military.
Also, Japan should supply the Philippines with lots of long and medium range missiles and drones, air defense systems and other weapons.
Japan should also secure access to bases in the Philippines and hold joint military exercises with the Philippines to improve interoperability between the two countries.
