My question is would an online degree in health informatics be accepted when seeking for entey level positions?
An online degree would not solve the problem unless you already have some work experience in the field of Health Informatics. Online degrees are done by experienced professional just for name sake. Also, if the course is purely online or distance learning then you don't get the industry exposure which helps to get that first job if you are new.
So, to compile if you are an experienced professional go ahead with online courses; otherwise for a fresher we won't recommend.

Hi maam. Thanks for the informative video! Wanted to ask that is work from home option available once we get into health Informatics and look for jobs? For someone who is a new mother and finds it difficult to balance both family and job, can we expect such flexibility?
WFH jobs are there but less, since it is a healthcare industry we might be required to be in the field at times. MNCs are still offering a WFH setup, but this is temporary. Eventually, as COVID declines, offices will be functional.

You need to check the eligibility criteria in the college where you intend to apply. This will differ from college to college.

No PR is a different process altogether; hence you won't get PR based on the degree. Getting work will totally depend on how quickly you adopt the skills and present to the prospective employer.

Yes, there is. But you would need to put in extra efforts in doing certifications and keeping yourself up-to-date with the industry.

Job demand is good, but outside India, there is no culture of providing placements as such. You have to identify and search the opportunities with the help of your faculty and alumni.
What about Diploma course in health informatics? Colleges provides only Diploma courses, can we go with Diploma courses(in Canada)?
Yes, there are diploma courses as well; but you should check with the college itself. You can ask about the industry exposure that is provided (if any), is there any internship during the course. Find out about the alumni, try connecting with them on social channels and get your queries answered.

Not sure, as the score decreases with age. You can try consulting with Y-axis or Abroad Pathway Immigration, they are working since long in this space and have good reviews on google.

No, there's nothing like that. Anyone can pursue the field and there are ramifications within the field as well. Research is one such avenue in health informatics.

You need to appear for English Proficiency Exams and should have PR to work in Canada or else you need to apply as a student to enrol in a course.

Not sure about Canada, but in USA you do get 3 years post study visa if you opt for MSHI.

Yes, it would. But the certifications are usually done by experienced professionals as the institutions generally do not help in placements compared with the master's degree course in health informatics.

Ask the admission cell on how is the industry exposure provided while pursuing the course, are there any internship opportunities, do they help in placements, etc.
You can also connect with the alumni of the institution or college through social media channels like LinkedIn and ask about their experience. This way you'll get a fair idea on the job opportunities provided.

Hello Anubha, Sorry for the delayed response. Actually in 2015, Ontario was nominating everyone with CRS score above 400. So it's not specific to any profession.

Hello Syeda, I'm not much aware of the post-graduate diploma program in Canada, please share the university or college link that is providing this course.
Also, whenever you are looking out for real-time prospects of a course, do check the following:
1. How is the industry exposure provided during the course? This can be done through guest lectures, internship opportunities, volunteer work, etc.
2. Look at the course content and then compare it with others. Like in your case - ask for course content for both PGD & Masters's degree programs and compare them. This will help you to understand the difference between the two and choose the one that is more extensive.
3. Connect with people through LinkedIn who have pursued the course from the college you intend to apply to and ask about the course prospects. (Tip: connect with at least 10-20 people, then one would respond).

Not sure how beneficial the online degrees are because you don't get practical industry exposure in online mode.
