- Savage C-Stand Hands on review and shoot. During this hands on test we are checking out all the cool new features that Savage Universal added to make this stand out (lol) Some of the things you will notice in the video is the capability to put the stand into the corner and move the main riser to the back leg! This is something that I have not seen before in a C Stand and comes in handy for shoots in tight spaces.
Next we noticed the grip arm has a 1/4-20 screw to mount flashes and accessories on it and also a flat area to mount a traditional light - this is awesome - my lights will never slip around the arm again. While talking about the grip arm it comes with a clamp to hold a reflector or flag which is very useful.
The small riser stores away completely on the stand and has a baby pin that can be moved to lower a light - I was able to use 1 C-stand and do a clamshell lighting setup during my shoot or add a gel on the model.
This stand has a heavy duty construction and can hold more weight than similar stands at higher prices. We were impressed with how durable and well built the stand was and hope to see more grip gear come from Savage.
The blue soft grip was nice to grab the stand and not have it slip. Other nice features were the springs in the risers, the small heavy duty hook for wires or sandbags and the clamp.

Thank you, Capture School, for your detailed breakdown of the new Savage C-Stand! 🤩
Anytime! I need to order some more for use at Parkwood Studio!
I purchased one from Adorama about a month ago, and I absolutely love it. Best C-Stand you can have. So awesome. I can’t put in words how happy I am to have this C-Stand.
I am enjoying it as well - it was well designed and thought out !
Just bought and with your video, I am now glad i did.
Hope you enjoy it! I know I love it!
Great video....thank you for sharing! I am going to grab one on B&H that is now on sale for $165.
JESUS, I just bought 5 of them after this video! I knew there was something out there that covered all I needed! :D
Excellent - I wish I had 5 of them!!
Thanks for the review now I’m sure I want two of them
Glad I could help! They have been a good addition to our gear in the studio
Totally savage! Yayaaas... 😘
Really been enjoying these stands
hi, the design is genius! If the Blue Grip is black, I will buy tons of them.
The Blue grip makes mine stand out on set where all gear looks the same - I used to put green gaffers tape on mine now the blue handle makes it apparent which gear to take back to my studio and which is not mine
The only thing I really disliked about it was they literally glue on the connection piece that connects to the base. Mine came undone during a shoot and swayed, I was so confused. They (Savage) legit told me to glue it back together 🤣Great concept with one major design flaw. For that alone it's no longer a part of my grip trailer.
Interesting , which part is glued on? We have them in our commercial studio and have not had it break yet. Thank you for letting me know in case something happens
Purchasing today from Adorama
Good choice I really love mine!
How are they compared to Manfroto
Solid build and have stood up to the test of time
How do you add wheels to it?
casters
At our commercial studio we have separate rolling stands, but like the other comment states there are ways to buy casters or a rolling tripod rig to strap it into ( think manfrotto has one ) I never really liked those solutions , they always seemed unsafe and sketchy, but they do exist
