How to Make Free Energy Water Pump - Ram Pump

  • How to make a hydraulic ram pump which requires no electricity and no motor.
    Things used in my project
    1. Buy Check Valve from amzn.to/2CYOGhP
    2. Buy Valve from amzn.to/2UFwAvH
    NOTE : This pump uses falling water to lift a lesser amount of water to a higher elevation than the source. So, being primarily used for lifting relatively small amount of water to a higher elevation. if you want to deliver 2 cubic meter of water to an elevated location, you need at least 6 cubic meters of water to operate the pump 4 cubic meters of which will be used to drive the pump and goes directly as waste.

    This Pump is a cyclic water pump powered by hydropower. It takes in water at one "hydraulic head" (pressure) and flow rate, and outputs water at a higher hydraulic head and lower flow rate.
    Applications:
    1. Pumping drinking water from streams that have significant slop.
    2. Lifting irrigation water from streams or raised irrigation channels.
    3.Lifting drinking water from springs to settlements on higher ground.

    This is a nice manufacture of an old idea, one of the old family farms in England in the 1800s used a cast iron version of this to get all the farm's water from a lower stream. It's totally free to run, the energy to lift the water comes from the water that is returned to the stream flow. While the flow may be slow, it's running 24/7 so if you over use in the daytime it can catch up in the night.
    There really should be an outlet pipe for the water returning to the stream just so that it doesn't damage the foundations of the pump machine.

      For this to work the stream has to be above the pump, so you can't just return it from where you got it.

    For all those who don't understand. This is used when an unlimited supply of water is available above the pump. Like a river or pond etc. It is then pumped to higher ground over great distances. It's not high volume but makes up for that by constantly running without using an outside power source. Water is not wasted. It's simply put back into the ground where it belongs. Ideal usage is to pump to higher elevation to a holding tank. Great system.

    Thanks, for a great demonstration of how water hammer works. It would be a nice tap water system by the creek.
    The amount of water lifted by this device is less than input.
    The potential energy of the incoming water plus the wastewater equals the potential energy of the outgoing water in heigh level.

    These used to quite common where I live. I think that some of them were used in series to reach higher. Not sure how that would work, so I might be wrong. The source was usually a river with a dam providing the water head to run the ram pump. There are remains of some of them still in existence, but not used any more.

    • @georgeknowles8762
      @georgeknowles8762 6 років тому +1

      To clarify- the "waste" water just goes in to the river below the dam, so it's not wasted. It's not "free" energy of course. The energy is provided by the sun which creates the clouds that provide the rain upstream. However, the sun still has millions of years left to continue supplying energy before it dies.

      Intake hose should be 15 feet or longer, he was cutting it close,, your outtake can be as long as you want,,,, as long as you're elevation is high enough on intake,,,, meaning he needed to move that jug of water higher to get any more height on his pump, ratio is about seven 1 to 7

      Water hits the valve going out. That water, hitting the valve that closes, pushes that momentum up into the pressure tank which creates backpressure to "pump" the water. Still gonna cost about $40

  • @3DPDK
    @3DPDK 7 років тому +62

    The reason this works is the drink bottle at the top of the pipe. As the water siphons from the 5gal jug it fills the pipe and pressurizes the bottle. As the water flows back out the bottom valve, the pressure in the bottle manages to push a small portion of the water through the top check valve. Eventually this will fill the hose going to the tank on the roof. It's limited to the height this would work; at some point the weight of the water going up the hose to the tank would exceed the pressure in the bottle and all the water would then flow out the "release" valve. This works, but it's not "free" energy. Stored potential energy in the water as it falls to a lower gravity state is what drives the system. An Archimedes' screw is far more energy efficient and can pump more volume.

    • @tomr6955
      @tomr6955 6 років тому

      Kailas M No because then it would just be a matter of dripping the top hose in there too and actually getting free and perpetual energy ;)

    • @yafilmDOTcom
      @yafilmDOTcom 6 років тому +5

      As to the maximum altitude limitations problem where the weight of the water reaches a point where all the water goes to the release valve, I would say that I have a theory that might work. Lets say you want the water to go up like 4 times higher than the maximum altitude you can get it from a standard ordinary hose, I would say that using much thinner hose, like those 1/4" polyethylene white tube pipe hose commonly sold for Reverse Osmosis (RO) filters and its cartridges, those hoses are so thin going upwards would not render the same weight ratio than going upwards with one of those bulky fat hoses, therefore you should be able to get that water much higher with those 1/4" hoses.

    • @sideswipe147
      @sideswipe147 6 років тому +3

      an archimedes screw isn't "self" powered. That is it doesn't run on gravity. you need a prime mover to turn the screw.

    There is no realistic height limit to this system. Merely use the exit hose to fill a tank about 10 feet above the height of the unit, then use the tank as the source for a second Ram Pump to lift it to a second tank 10feet up, & so on. Multiple pumps will bring usable water to many elevations.

      Единственный вариант использования - если рядом есть ручей/река с порогом. Хотя на таком ручье можно сделать водную мельницу)

      Такие штуки ставят в ручей, там расход не важен. Поищите "гидротаранный насос".

    what if we insert the inlet horizontally straight instead of using that black tank (source) if water is coming directly from a spring continuously ?

    It's only free energy if 100% of the water is pumped up to the top. Your pumping less than 50% of the water supply to the top with the use of the excess force and water displacement of the lost water through the relief flapper. But it's still sweet and would work in continuous flow systems like a stream, similar to a hydro dam basically. Nice video.

      "It's only free energy if 100% of the water is pumped up to the top"
      I call bullshit. It's free if you don't have to pay for it to work.

      Sorry if the above seems rude, I simply like the phrase.

      Sorry it's "cost less energy" if you have a property with a river out back, but it's not cold fusion aka free energy

      You are correct. The problem is that phrase is pretty heavily associated with people trying to sell perpetual motion machines.

      It's 100% EFFICIENT if 100% of the water is pumped up to the top. Whatever you manage to pump without an external energy source was pumped with 'free' energy. So, if it's free energy, why would you worry about efficiency?? Take the 10% and be happy you didn't need to run a generation to get it.
