I first heard this song whilst running (driving) from PA to SC to escape winter and depression. Drove into Charlotte, NC at midnight with a full moon illuminating wind-blown cherry blossoms. I thought it was snowing until I noticed the moon. I opened the window and it was 75 degrees. That was when I knew that I had escaped.
There's a girl I'm in love with and last time we were listening to sigur ros. I don't know the meaning of this song but I heard words similiar to "I love you" and that's what I was thinking about all the time... Feelings are the most important in this kind of songs... So now this one reminds me of happiness
The video is magnificent!!!!! To me, though I do not understand the language in the songs, Sigur Ros are about celebrating life! I love it coz everytime I listen to it it spewa positivieness and inspires and invigorates you all at the same time!!! Mezza
Well said here. I don't know the meaning sigur ros intends with much of their music. Though I know very well the meaning these songs have to me. This song in particular has a really strong connection with me. Everytime I hear it I get chills. I'm filled with immense joy, yet at the same time immense sadness. There is no other music that can evoke emotion so powerfully within me.

hehe:D I found on wiki that 'sigur ros' means 'rose of victory' and 'Siguros' is also a name of one guy's from the band sister, who was born in the day Sigur Ros was set up.
Takk in my opinion got very unfairly smashed by some critics. I thought that this was amoung their best records (along with Agaetis Byrjun and ( ) ), especially the first half. Not to mention this is a helluva song, especially when it's followed by Saeglopur.
@gatheringleaves Well, I think it's the fact that they draw so much influence from classical and baroque music. For a modern band, that's very rare, and even though they aren't my favorite, I can say with a good conscience that the euphoric and dreamy atmospheres they create within their music will always be superior to any other music. I know it's a matter of opinion, but it's my belief.
i dont think they drop they're songs from heaven. i think heaven, god, religion, has nothing to do with what them. as humans have created, its purely them, and thats what makes it truly great to listen to.

It's quite logical. "Ros" is very similar to the English (and Norwegian) word "rose" and "sigur" (victory) is "seier" in my language (Norwegian Bokmål) and "siger" in Norwegian Nynorsk.

My father was dying and we were in Milan for a concert of Sigur Ros and the band came up and al I did was crying. One of the best concerts ever.

"Se Lest" is pronounced the same way than "Céleste", which means celestial in french... because this song comes from heavens maybe.

Sounds like the name of a person. "Sigurd" is a real name in Norway and maybe on Iceland too. Quite similar to "Sigur".
