    Love watching your video's! I wouldn't worry about his speech at all. My son who is my first born didn't speak a word till he was 3 years old and is now way past his age group with learning. He has a photographic memory and can remember EVERYTHING! Where as my daughter who was born second could carry a full conversation at 12 months old has a very hard time learning new things and retaining them. As long as he can tell you what he wants somehow he's doing great! All kids are different. :)

    Hey Kim, something I learned in peds when I went through nursing school.. every kid is different.. there are sayings about boys verbalizing later than girls, but honestly.. it’s all dependent on the child. And don’t beat yourself up too much about the bottle rot.. you’re doing what you need to (researching, trying to solve it and consulting doc/dentist about it).. and that’s all you can do as a mom. USUALLY it’s caused by bottle propping ( a bottle with formula/milk is placed on a pillow allowing a slow and steady steam of sugar rich fluid to be in contact with the enamel over long periods of time) but the breastfeeding to sleep thing could have attributed to it.. but again.. you’re doing what you can about it and it’s not detrimental to your child being able to thrive. Wentworth is happy, healthy and surrounding by your love and support. I only have one kid so I’m very much involved daily and still don’t feel like i give enough..the mom guilt will never cease to plague us. You’re doing an amazing job!

    Kim......please don't worry about speech. Boys tend to talk slower but believe me, he will catch on especially with two chatty sister's. My son waited and waited to talk but my daughter, I swear, came out talking. 🤣 You are doing a great job as a momma! The teeth will come out eventually and be shiny and new again. Wentworth is absolutely adorable!!! ❤😘

    Best thing I did was to teach my kids to put whatever they were playing with away before they can move on to the next thing. This happened from a very Young age I want to say they were 2 and 5 years old and it worked wonderful.

    Wentworth is a star!! I love him especially dancing... he’s adorable!! Don’t worry every child follows their path ... some start early some take time ... in my experience i was exactly like u with my elder one .... but trust me in a little time you’ll see Wentworth surpasing the girls as that’s the sibling effect. My younger daughter picks up and used to pick up things faster as she would see my elder daughter doing so... and trust me it continues from scribbling to writing to playing to fashion as they grow up. Wentworth is perfect ❤️ Don’t stress you are an Awesome Mom...

    One of my kiddos had the same problem with her front teeth - she had a lip tie, the front lip was too tight against the teeth. Bed time breastfeeding made it worse :) quick surgery and MI Paste Plus, the vitamins in it hardened her teeth and they turned back to normal and she still has them at 4!!

    I've got a stomach flu today, husband is taking care of the kids. Your video was a great distraction. 😊 I worried about tooth decay with my little one, so when she got to where I could nurse her and then she'd fall asleep on her own when I'd lay her down I would have her take a few sips of water to clear the milk from her mouth. Planning on doing the same with the little guy I'm nursing now. All of my kids have been late teethers which helps too though. (My little guy is nine and a half months and is only just now having one little bit of tooth starting to break through the gum). Because his decay looks to be more near the gum line (the harder area to get too, you may want to see if he can get a fluoride treatment, or drops. My sister got fluoride drops as a kid, she never got cavities even though she never brushed her teeth. I didn't get the drops and I brushed all the time and use prescription toothpaste etc and have had tooth problems my entire life😩😩😩It's a real bummer. So hopefully they can figure out something so that Wentworth doesn't have to go through that. (He may just have teeth more prone to dental caries than the girls) His dancing made my day, sorry for the long post😩.

  • @alohadani123

    I feel your stress! I nursed our son until 2 and always nursed him to sleep and never had any issues although he has been our one prone to cavities. His sister I didn’t nurse as long, but I was so diligent about brushing her gums when she was baby with the little finger thing and toothpaste and she ends has fluorosis (where she has white spots on her teeth) because of too much fluoride apparently! 😬😬😬 We all are just trying to do our best. Trial and error 😂

    I have three kids. My First Son talked fairly early. My second son was later, but around two and a half he suddenly started talking all at once. My third child is my first girl, and at almost 2, she says a quite a few words, but inconsistently. However, she communicates very well despite her lack of vocabulary. She does not speak sentences yet, maybe a little. I think later children sometimes speak later as well. I don't have as much time to work with her, but I do work with her some, and she still just doesn't want to talk. When she's ready she will! I know she's healthy and happy, and Wentworth looks like a very bright healthy boy as well.
    My son was never diagnosed with bottle mouth, but he did have this strange darkish buildup on his front teeth when he was about Wentworths age. We used to just scrape it off and clean his teeth really well, and try to feed him a healthy diet with a Lot of healthy fats and protein and low sugar/low processed carbs. He's 5 now and his teeth are fine. Hope that helps a little! Get rid of Mom guilt, you're a awesome mom!

    My first boy talked like crazy too and my 19 month old is way slower than my first in the talking area. But about a month ago at 18 months he started talking way more. Don’t feel bad, it’s just the nature of being a second or third time Mom.

    Hi Kim. Are you sure it's bottle rot? My older son has that since 2 and the various dentists he's seen think it's just staining, possibly from iron drops he had to take for a few months. My guy's 5.5 and has had a first set of x-rays and numerous visits to the dentist with zero report of cavities. Don't freak out until you see a dentist.

  • @AmberGilbertson

    My little brother had baby bottle rot unfortunately he had to get 7 of his top teeth pulled and caps put on his bottom ones. But this was in the 90's and he was sent to bed with a juice bottle (I know gasp) hopefully you caught your little guys teeth early enough and nothing drastic has to be done. Plus now as an adult he has very weak enamel (poor guy).

    My daughter had the same thing and she was breastfed. No juice or anything...she had to have her top 2 teeth pulled because you can’t heal it. She didn’t have a vitamin deficiency or anything like that, it’s just something unfortunate that happened. But her pediatric dentist didn’t want to leave the teeth in there because they were so far away from coming out and it just gets worse over time. It’s nothing you’re doing wrong, but he really does need to go see a dentist!!

  • @jawaskihicks5527

    My son is dealing with the same thing. He's 5 now BUT it started when he was smaller. He was also exclusively breastfed, no bottle, no juice ect. At a recent dentist appointment the dentist said it was from me letting him have a bottle to much and not flossing his teeth. I was like "ummm .. what?" Also, she wasn't very nice about it. She made me feel like I was neglecting his oral hygiene. She was very judgy.

  • @blo928
    @blo928 6 років тому

    I’ve had this happen with my first kiddo. Also a really great diet, no candy or juice, and solely breastfeed. I felt like the worse Mom ever! I decided to have them put him to sleep and get his teeth capped. I still regret having them capped.
    With my second, straight from birth I made sure to wipe his gums/teeth after every feeding with a wet cloth. Once his teeth cut, I started brushing. Teeth are also a genetic thing, if a parent or anyone who doesn’t have the best teeth try to cool off there food by blowing on there food, they can pass that germ. Same goes for sharing food and drinks.
    Don’t feel bad, I don’t think baby oral hygiene is spoken about enough. Sadly my little guy still ended up with one cavity even after being strict with his teeth.

    I would definitely see a doctor about his teeth. My niece had the same issue and her parents completely ignored it and it eventually covered all her teeth and it just looked like all her teeth were rotting away. Finally they got her seen for it and she had to have surgery and they shaved all her teeth down and put white caps on them.

    Hi Kim!! Great video! Don’t you worry about that sweet little boy!! He is just fine!!!! He’s happy he’s healthy, and he is saying words. I think sometimes the youngest child might be a little slower in saying more words because they don’t necessarily have to. With older siblings and being the third child, sometimes they might get what they want without having to say the word. OMG, I hope that came out right 😜. I’m not saying you do that...I just mean that it’s a possibility with some kids. Regardless, he’s a beautiful precious little boy. It's boy/girl difference. I have a 6 yr boy, 5 yr girl, almost 2 yr boy. My daughter spoke well before my first son. She said bird at 5 mos and spoke sentences by 12-15 mos. My boys not so much. My youngest and last little boy, he's almost 2 and not speaking full sentences. Still working on words, but he's the most charming little one (3rd child). My other two did not charm their way out of things, they just threw a fit, so it's all good, and different for all of 3.

    My son is two and is just starting to put 2 words together. (I’m with him EVERY. SINGLE. DAY) My first is almost 10 and was diagnosed with a sound system disorder at 4. He had the words, it was just hard to understand him. He’s received speech services since then. I feel like my 2 year old will be following his footsteps. I have friends whose kids knew their ABC’s at 14 months. And others who’s son had ZERO words at 26 months. Kids are all different. It’s crazy.

    Boys are usually a little slower in the language department than girls. I would not worry at all. Rotten mouth sometimes a little discoloration can happen if he bumped his face (and it will go away). Take him to a dentist they will put some protective stuff on it and probably just do a wait and watch thing). I get it my youngest (3 next week and 4th kid) he is much slower at words to the point that I’m getting him some help- I nursed him until 28 months- never had juice until recently (never introduce it I’m killing my self he got he flu and I gave him juices to help get fluids in and now he is addicted) 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I also have 11 year old boy/girl twins my boy had very little language compared to his twin now he never stops talking 😂-

    I definitely don't have any advice. One daughter has hearing aids so the lack of keeping them on a toddler she didn't really talk till she was 3 with therapy. My other daughter, twins, had damage vocal cords from being intabated so she was unable to make noise till she was 1. My doctors weren't really worried about the slow progression, I made the choice in therapy, but not sure if because of medical issues or they weren't really that behind the curve. They didn't care that i didn't do tummy time for one of them too thankfully because she would "scream" anytime I did it. I got so lucky with teeth so far no issues even with one being high risk and they won't drink water. That is what I call a mommy fail.

    I don’t know about bottle rot, my kids thankfully never had that, I was gonna say because I nursed them but duhhh you do that too lol. My oldest though got the start of two cavities around 18 mouths which her dentist said was from dried fruit (raisins, cranberries, etc.) and he had me buy the kids act brand mouthwash, dip a qtip in it and just rub it on those teeth. Holy run on sentence back there. I know you’re not big on fluoride, or at least I think you’re not, but it pretty much only went on those teeth since you use a qtip to put it on.

    Oh! And also! The speaking thing; I have a son (1) and daughter (3); they both talk extremely well, BUT I’ve heard that you either walk early or talk early and they both talked early and walked late. I’ve also heard boys talk later than girls. Also, Luke’s doctor told me the generic rule they go by is they want kids to be able to do “two word sentences by age two and three word sentences by age three”...
    He told me that because at Luke’s 15 month check I said he could say 4 word sentences and he said he didn’t believe me and followed it up with that. Right after he said that Luke said “I want my Mommy” 🙄. Told ya dude.

      Life with Lilly and Luke girl me too with my first I though he was getting a stutter at 18 months he walk at 9 months not standing and wobble but like walking down the street shopping 😂. Anyway I had child-find come out to make sure he was ok and while the lady was playing with him he told her the ramp was to steep they were playing cars, no lie she legit rolled her eyes at me and said he’s fine mama and started packing up her stuff.

    Oh Kim, I still have my chrismas curtain/drape hanging (they have snowflakes and reindeer on it) WHOOOPS. So I guess your easter stuff is fine.
    His talking will be fine. My third (girl) was a late talker and she is fine now.
    My first (boy) had the teeth issues as Wentworth. He had it from a learning beaker with sweetened tea after he did not breastfeed anymore. Also he did not let my brush his teeth (we found out later, he is on the autistic spectrum). He had some teeth pulled at 4 years (he was unter anesthesia).
    Love, Salo

      Yes! Thank you for saying that! I get so many conflicted comments on 'delayed speech' My doctor is not worried at all and says he's on par but I still feel the guilt of not working enough with him... wether or not he would say more... who knows!

    Could just be a type of birth defect with his teeth and nothing you did wrong. Get him into a dentist. They will most likely cap those teeth so they don’t get worse. He seems to have Avalina’s personality, so cute!

      Sassylunchmom from everything Alex and I are reading it jus seems that some people have crappy teeth 😩I still think it’s due to a vitamin deficiency (not eating enough veggies or something)

      I think this may be a cultural difference. Found this online: USA: A neutral term to refer to clumsiness. Unlike its UK counterpart, this has absolutely no negative connotations. UK: An incredibly derogatory term referring to people with cerebral palsy, in a similar way retarded is often used as an insult around the world. wtb61, are you in the UK. Here is the US spastic just means crazy or out of control.

    • @thewadsquad
      @thewadsquad  6 років тому +3

      I obviously didn't mean it in an offensive way, but if you are that sensitive over the title of this video I'm sure other things I would say in future videos would offend you just as much, if not more. -- I can't be friends with everyone, not everyone will understand my humor.

    • @thewadsquad
      @thewadsquad  6 років тому +3

      Also- I changed the title - clearly I am not in the business of rubbing people the wrong way -- HOWEVER; I feel like I need to state that I have several special needs people in my family -- As if that makes being upset about a word justifiable. smh. namaste.

    • @SussyJalec
      @SussyJalec 6 років тому

      I say my son's such a spas quite often--sounds better to me than the clinical term "dysregulated." My son's grandma got super upset years ago when my husband and I classified something our older son who's on the autism spectrum was doing as "bratty." Clearly we love him and he was just being a toddler. Lighten up!

    Your "Spastic Day"?? Were you having muscle spasms all day? Was your muscle tone affected by the medical condition "spasticity" for the duration of the day? Not sure if you are aware, but the word "spastic" is a VERY uneducated, derogative and highly offensive term for a physical disability if not used in the correct context (which this was not). You are at risk of losing quite a number of subscribers, and/or friends if you continue to speak this way. I am just trying to help you from yourself. I will give you the benefit of the doubt, because I don't actually think you are a malicious person, but PLEASE consider others before you make these types of comments/remarks. "spastic" refers to an alteration in muscle tone affected by the medical condition spasticity, which is seen in spastic diplegia and many other forms of cerebral palsy and also in terms such as "spastic colon".

    • @emmawhite4763
      @emmawhite4763 6 років тому

      PS - you want to know about our babies? Well, my baby is "spastic" as you would say. Therefore at the age of 14 she still has not said a word. Your son is adorable, just gorgeous - he seems very happy and very content. I don't think you need to be concerned :-*

    • @thewadsquad
      @thewadsquad  6 років тому +1

      I meant nothing offensive by the term - and very highly doubt that I will loose any subscribers, other than maybe you. What I meant by using that word was to say I am chaotic, uncoordinated, and/or all over the place. But I understand why this word upsets you and you are sensitive about it since sharing a bit about your daughter. - I wouldn't take it personally, I'm sorry if it upset you.

    • @helenr4205
      @helenr4205 6 років тому

      Of course you would tell people not to take it personally because it was you that offended people. Using language like that reflects on you and not on the people upset my it.

    • @thewadsquad
      @thewadsquad  6 років тому +1

      Helen R Just because someone was offended by something does not make it inherently offensive.

    • @helenr4205
      @helenr4205 6 років тому

      Well it’s incredibly offensive, and if you feel so strongly about then why change the name of the video?
