  • The BEST CHEAP License Plate Relocation Kit Install | 2015+ Subaru WRX & STI
    This is the best cheap license plate relocation kit for the 2015+ Subaru WRX or STI. Honestly a great option to throw on your 2020 or 2021 WRX too.

    I was sick of my Perrin Front License Plate relocation or relocator kit, and swapped it out with this kit. So this is a removal and install.
    The Grimmspeed front plate relocation kit is also a great option for your Subaru WRX, just more expensive!

    Odd you were having issues with the Perrin one. We've sold hundreds and haven't run into that issue before. I would have suggested contacting them to see if they would have provided any tips or possibly replaced it. Always worth a shot to check with the manufacturer before calling it quits.

      Thanks for the comment as always! If I had bought it from them I definitely would have reached out prior to making the change. The previous owner of my WRX bought the Perrin kit so I am sure you can understand, I didn't want to bother them with a low cost second owned part. It's funny, I have seen tons of Perrin Kits on WRX's, most of them amazing, but I am number 4 so far with the same issue (at least from what I have seen in person). It was either put 3 thin rubber washers on it and crank down or get something cheap that held. I tried the washers and it was a game of tightening enough to make it lock, and not overtightening to them make it lock at an angle. I tried it enough and decided to make another video lol.

      @@AutoEnthusiast I asked our support team and no one fessed up to hearing of similar issues so either we've been lucky or our customers are going straight to Perrin. Either way, it's on their radar in case it comes up. 👍

    Glad I found this, 80+ for a relocation kit was sort of insane to me. 50 bucks saved.

    It looks like a rip off of the Grimmspeed kit, and they even plagiarized the item description from the Grimmspeed pages.

    Did you try blue lock tight . On the treads? I know they don't but Perrin should supply a small tube when purchased.
    Always use it on high vibration area's

    I cannot find a phone mount that will stick to the 2022 -. Very frustrating.
    Also, possibly videos on all of the light overlays ! 😊👍

      @@SubiSpeed I have a 2020 wrx so I thought maybe it was just with my year. In my case it seems like the rod is almost too short. It’s loose because I have to leave it partially unscrewed even with washers because the rod will sink in too much to the point that the plate won’t screw on.

    • @AutoEnthusiast

      ^I had the same problem installing the kit on a subscribers car, he had a 2020, and I am convinced they sent a kit with the wrong length rod. I am not as familiar with thread changes on the 2019, 2020 and if there were thread depth changes or bumper deflection height changes. I just added a female/male extender and now his sticks out maybe a 1/3" farther than likely intended.

      Same problem. I ended up just going to the hardware store and buying a longer 7/16"-20 bolt and a solid spacer so I can torque everything to spec. Otherwise the mount rubs my bumper. With everything torqued to spec I don't have any losening issues. Dumb that for $80 you have to hack it to work..

      I posted a couple of links, it is all about the bumper and distance the arm needs to go. I believe you are fine with the 2018+. Don't quote me on it, but you can message the seller to verify.

    Sick vid! Quick question, on a wrx cvt, what can I do to go louder other then after a muffler delete that I’ve already done? Like what could be the next step to be louder if I can?

    • @AutoEnthusiast
      @AutoEnthusiast  3 роки тому +2

      full catback that is non-resonated. But, that is just for volume. Sounds better with a res in my opinion, doesn't cut out too much sound.

      check out JXR Performance. There is a shorter kit for the 15-17, and then the kits for the 18+ have a longer rod.

    So I ordered this one for my '21 STi and there's about 2 inches that sticks out. I'm guessing the bumpers are slightly different than the WRX's

    • @AutoEnthusiast
      @AutoEnthusiast  2 роки тому +1

      Nope! They are the same, that is the typical clearance. Bumpers are the exact same, but most people in the community don't like to run them tight, actually no one ever does (not to say you shouldnt lol). There are also some clearance rules in some states (I think), and having it clear the bumper is the safer bet. But in all honestly, it's been decades of people wanting them further off the bumper to gain the effect of depth perception and not have the "wrapping" look or warped look.

    I've had three Perrin plate relocaters. They worked perfectly. You must have missed a step. The problem with cheap parts from Amazon are made in China. I'd rather support "Made in the USA" especially during the pandemic.
