Herbert's spice tolerance is improving! I was like him and avoided spicy food until I tasted laksa for the first time at 18. Then I forced myself to build that tolerance because it was SO good. Korean food is on another level though!

I love buying the BCD Soon Tofu kits (they are easy to find in the Bay Area). I use whatever meat or mushrooms I have on hand, and I always have some kind of namul, one of the things I learned to make since it's super easy, and I can do batches of them for the week whenever I buy a bunch of vegetables (they never last the week). Though I'm Chinese, I seem to find myself making and eating more Korean and Japanese food at home than anything else, though I do make my favorite home-cooked Chinese dishes often.

There is one up in SF, and two down in SJ, so I have to make do getting Korean stuff at other Asian markets, but I'm pretty much dead center in between them. Nijiya carries the kits and other Korean items, as well as my other local Japanese market. The Ranch 99 is a pain to get to, though we have Marina market that is closer. I have been ordering a lot of my groceries from SayWeee, because they carry so many Korean goodies, and probably the best source, but you have to be home to wait for the deliveries.

My TMI question is, as someone who only started eating & loving really spicy food in the last few years, does anyone know if there's any way to train your digestive system to love it too? I love it going down, I don't love it coming out 🤣🤣🤣
Increase the spice you put on your food little by little each time you eat something spicy and eventually you can handle a higher level of tolerance.
training little by little helps for sure!! and drinking a lot of liquid 🤣but even I get the spicy aftermath sometimes.. LOL

I actually made soon tofu based on a recipe from another K cooking channel I enjoy. I didn't have guchugaru though, and so it didn't come out just right. I really love your videos YB. They're mellow and very watchable.

Yum I love BCD specifically the fried fish banchan. It's my absolute favorite. The price for some tofu stew is a tad steep for me but I would definitely return with friends.

Oh dude I am so obsessed with seaweed salad I have made the mistake of getting too into it in one meal that I end up getting sick because it’s so good I’ve made it myself to just buy buying whatever seaweed looks great from the health food store then sesame oil a little ponzu and toasted sesame seeds. Love it

I got the seaweed salad and I love it, although I noticed it developed an orange like film?? It’s hard to describe, the juice went a bit cloudy when I mixed it so I’m not sure if it’s still okay to eat. I haven’t had it that long only a couple of days. I also can’t find any information on it online

Also it’s funny how many kpop idols will come to LA….and first thing they eat is BCD 😂 I hope YB can take Herbert to Korea soon, and do a bunch of travel/food vids there :) only thing that makes me sad is that food in Korea is soooo much cheaper than here in America, and especially with how strong the US dollar is there in comparison to KRW~

We LOVE BCD 😍We've been going there since they've opened a location in Artesia. We discovered this place after I got food poisoning at another tofu place that's near me.
The food is so delicious there. But mom, she cannot handle any spice at all. If she got the mild, she would be coughing the entire time lol That's why she always gets Plain Beef 😅 While I can handle spice, I go for Spicy Kimchi Beef 🤤

When I sick years ago I went 3 days in a row and each bowl hit different it was wonderful!
