Something to add that hasn’t been said yet is that before this set, the lowest cost floodborn card was 4 ink to pay and 2 to shift. These 3 cost floodborn cards that can shift early with discard can make cards like Bucky, blue fairy, and chief bogo a little more viable. They all do things whenever you play a floodborn card.
Amethyst-Emerald in particular looks more juicy with Bucky who makes opponent discard and blue fairy who draws whenever a floodborn is played. These could give massive card advantage.
diablo devoted is interesting, u can essentially place it by turn two with a shift and then it means that every turn u are drawing two cards. this will be very powerful
these new shift conditions are nuts - they make uninkable cards way better since they now still can provide inkvalue and they also make turns way more explosive since its not only ink cost reduction like normal shifts but basically free, leaving your whole ink to be on curve. very interesting concepts
The new shift mechanic is interesting because you don't pay ink, it opens deck ideas where you don't need to ink that much. Also, the turn you shift you can play another card that turn for a more aggressive start.
With the Olaf could you maybe give him +strength then quest with him and support all your other characters with extra strength?
And the new shift mechanic makes me think that we are going to get more "return (blank) from your discard to your hand" or maybe even a card with "play (blank) directly from your discard pile"
t1 amethyst diablo t2 shift diablo have him sing friends play a 2 drop, draw when your opponent draws. 5 cards left hand but you drew at least 3. Call that AWNW at home.
Respected, saluted! I am loving some of these cards and so excited to get them and start playing. Thanks for the review!
i have a feeling that the floodborn flotsam and jetsam is gonna be insane, because the seprate flotsams and jetsams have different effects when they're in play
Same, that card with the Ward the others have…
8:18 I’m pretty sure it should affect rush characters as it just says all opposing characters and until the start of your next turn, meaning even if they just got in they still should get the debuff.
For diablo, you play 1 cost turn 1, discard a card, and shift the 3 cost in for turn 1, and exert every turn after. Should get at least a couple card draws from it
We just need a one cost Diablo :-)
@@timheinrichson he showed one in the video, just saying it was bad.
@@brandonbaker6118 oh yes sure. I thought that this is a 3 drop. Thanks for pointing it out
@@timheinrichson there was the 3 drop that draws cards, and a 1 drop.
for a 3 drop, do you really need to shift?
Lost in the woods, would effect Rush characters since it is a blanket effect on all opposing characters until the end of turn.
That runs counter to the guidance we’ve been given on Kida - Protector of Atlantis, which is a blanket effect on all characters until the start of player’s next turn.
If a Rush character isn’t affected by Kida - Protector of Atlantis, it doesn’t get affected here. The language isn’t significantly different.
Force of will was just counter spell with an alternate cost. Also lots a low cost floodborns means bucky's stonks are rising.
You do realize do not have to shift them, right? You can always play that Aladdin on T3 and start banishing everything from T4 onwards. As soon as you don't need him anymore, you can shift Ruby Aladdin onto him
I feel like Li Shang is good in a Ruby Amber Mufasa build that runs nothing but characters and is already aggressive questing. And it Ramps Chernabog faster
i love those comments...it sucks because it dies to removal. Diablo owns dude. It kills blue red decks where green has a problem against.
Super good against blue red if they draw you draw its really good against any thing not playing steel
@@manuelgutierrez9675 the hardest decks to beat by green decks are blue decks since they draw so much. This is the answer in beating them
@manuelgutierrez9675 yeah until it gets Cannoned
@@StreetLegendzEnt it dies to removal is never an excuse to not play a card. The age old "you can plow it" does not make the card not worthy of its inclusion
@@bryanwong1625I agree, we saw this recently with Sheoldred in MtG. Doing nothing on play people thought it might just die everythime it hits the field, but the upside of it not dying is so good it is worth it.
Diablo seems good in some type of emerald control deck to me
emerald steel is where this card will go
Some of of the new shift characters have such low ink costs, you might as well play them without shifting. Li Shang in particular I imagine.
Respected! Saluted!
Can;t wait to get my hands on some!
As a U/R Pawpsicile control player, I really like Brawl. Having more spot removal early on to deal with threats is nice.
Treasures untold card has ariel holding jafars staff. Just saw this so not sure if anyone else has said it yet
Diablo replaces itself as you draw 1 whenever they draw during their turn. It is nutty.
RESPECTED, SALUTED! and seen for the wonder I AM!
I feel like maybe a Li Shang, weight set deck could work. Probably not a super top tier option but seems potentially interesting
I am not sure the location works when you challenge with your character that's there, but rather the other way around, when your character that's there gets challenged?
Li Shang is insane. it isnt on quest or anything. so if you plop him down when you say, have a tremain and maui on board you go from questing for 2 to questing for 4 that turn.
Maui still can't quest as he is Reckless, but I agree the card looks at least very fun, if not good.
@@ThespianGamr oh yea, forgot the reckless. But the concept works for ither stuff
Befuddle is a purple card, not in an Emerald/Ruby deck.
Is snuggly duckling gonna be any good when you can just attack the location instead of the characters there?
9 Willpower is a lot to get through, especially in the early game. And if you attack the location without banishing it, the characters at the location can attack back (and gain lore in the process).
That Diablo biablows
Lost in the woods seems t be a great card. especially with some combo action. Scar would stick around for much longer killing characters and not taking much damage,
ursula or bare necessities? or both together?
RESPECTED, SALUTED. I could see it working very well in decks that has ample card draw. if it's only discard, you can play Olaf 1/4 on turn one etc. Jetsam floatsam on Morph turn 2. Bounce cards can be very punishing though.
You know morph isn’t a 1 cost right?
@@nathanrhoades6504 Right, I meant to say turn 2. The point is, you could get high cost characters down on the board very early, if you're willing to discard. There's a lot of potential for this mechanic to be very good.
@@ibg_music7525 hmm okay. I still don’t understand. 1st turn play singer. 2nd turn just in time a kuzco out. This is considered too weak because it took two cards to get a 2/4 ward 3 quest character with abilities.
You want to 2nd turn morph - Olaf - discard a pawpsicle to shift Olaf. You have now paid 4 cards for a 1/4 that quests for 2. The player across from
you played the same card for 3. You lose the game.
@@nathanrhoades6504 True, it doesn't seem very good right now, and only in specific circumstances would it be good right now as far as I've seen, but there is potential for the mechanic to be good with the right abilities. Maybe we get something that gives you something when you discard. When the entire set is revealed we'll get a better understanding and there are people that'll think of a clever way to use it.
Bucky synergy
Play new Olaf with another character with support. Support -> Olaf -> Support for all other characters
Alice works good 👍
Diablo is nuts mate! Imagine A whole new world! You draw 14! Cards! Also play Bucky on 2 and play Diablo on 3!
Also combos with "return character to players hand. That player draws 2 cards"
you just need to hit diablo before Hiram.
AWNW doesn't really combo with Diablo. It is only an Anti AWNW card because it only works on the opponents turn. Still good imo. But no combos on your turn.
Your opponent will probably never figure out not to play a whole new world. Combos relying on your opponent famously strong 😂
why not bucky on 2 and then diablo on 2? It's even better!
They have to be careful about "Free spells", card games have a bad history of having metas dominated by free cards, even to this day. Even if it's a 2 for 1. That being said these seem about as "fair" as free spells can be without knowing what the whole set looks like and future sets look like.
It’s more than 2 for 1…
@@nathanrhoades6504 it is if the first card you put down never does anything, then it's a 3 for 1 - you're right.
@@hatertime that’s the point of a free card being broken. You get it down much faster. 2/2 Robin Hood might get a lore or might want to stay safe then 3 shift big Robin Hood. If he said shift - discard a card you would never do anything with the base card. But it’s a 3 for 1 which as just in time showed us better be damn good. Nobody hardly uses that card and there’s some spicy 5 drops you can put down turn 2 that beat these cards except Ursula.
@@nathanrhoades6504 it's that you can use it when you're tapped out, or not tapped out to keep sequencing I.E Force of Will in MTG. You can use Robin Hood for lots of things. If you theoretically could pitch a card to shift big Queen everyone would do it before AWNW, and save 2 ink, but these aren't that good. Which is why I suppose I referred to them as fair free spells.
Why are songs so popular? Because you can sing them without using ink. Free spells aren't the same as shifting for ink. We haven't seen them all yet, even as a 3 for 1 it could be worth it
you confuse yourself by not reading the card properly lol
See the other thing the yellow ursula can do is if u shift her out turn 3. If you are first, you can also rip fishbone or mauis fishhook, ontop of locations as you said. But also songs. I think she is gonna be a powerhouse in yellow green
Also she basically give you the ability to check your opponents hand each turn she quests. She also makes your 2 drop ursula useful besides her 1 card rip.
