    I recall all of the bad press that Trevor Bauer received as a rookie in the MLB. Those reports actually made me a Trevor Bauer fan. I took notice when he questioned authority and chose to dictate his own development as a pitcher. I no longer pay attention to the media's opinions about him. I would like to see him pitch again in the MLB. However, no matter where he pitches, I will still be a fan and wear my Bauer Outage shirts proudly.

      Bauer is decent. He’s great at getting people to swing and miss. However, he has holes all over the rest of his game. His control is questionable and his fielding hasn’t been good.
      This is essentially a AA equivalent league talent-wise. If you put Bauer up against modern day big leaguers who won’t chase his pitches as much and he can’t rely as much on strikeouts, he will struggle.
      That’s not to say he can’t adjust and be serviceable, but that, combined with his difficult (at times) personality and unfounded but still sketchy off-field issues, is why teams haven’t gone after him. He could be a good high-leverage reliever, but I don’t think he’s mlb starting pitcher material anymore, and it sounds like he’s really only interested in starting. Heck, he could be a fantastic pitching coach.

    • @fuhkerz

      @JohnMegaton2062 Doubt there will be a suit. It would take so long that it would make it moot by the time it finished, he'd never play and at most get money, which doesn't seem to be a big concern for him.
      Second, the MLB rule violated is so vague that they would likely win any challenge to the original exclusion.
      Then based on that, "image" could be enough plausible deniability. Absent some smoking gun like an email or recorded call of the commissioner threatening teams who consider him, it's likely a lost cause.

    From my experience, neighborhood games usually result in many more runs than MLB games, because it is a lot easier for an average guy to hit an average pitch than it is for a pro hitter to hit a pro pitch. Pro hitters pitching to pro pitchers is kind of like average vs average, so the pitchers would score more runs than the hitters.

      @nicklikethesoup 4 місяці тому +3

      He doesn't give me spectrum vibes. He just strikes me as someone hyperfocused on what works for him for his own success, because the most obvious thing in the world is that other people don't understand what's going on with your body exactly. They rely on you to explain it to them. So he knows himself and doesn't conform because it doesn't serve him well. Which is an affront to old heads who are scared of innovation that would give that 1% advantage. The hardest thing to do is not the improvement from 60-80%, but 97-98%. He knows that as well. But that doesn't keep pitching coaches employed.
      You hear a similar thing from the elite of elite all the time. They don't listen to conformists and rub people the wrong way, because their intuition is saying, that can't be what gets me the last percentage. It's not right. Mikel Arteta over in the soccer world is demonstrating that with some of his weird coaching techniques. No one considers him on the spectrum. They just think he's obsessed with winning and is looking for that final .1 or .7% that puts them over the line compared to others. And the players are buying into it because they are being coach individually. American sports are a bit behind in that regard.

      @@zdinionyoutubeWell it can be. MLB teams pay their players using money from a variety of sources, including ticket sales, sponsorships, broadcast rights, merchandise sales, concessions, parking, and non-team events. So it all depends on how the team does and how much money they are willing to spend. Look at the Dodgers compared to the Athletics. The Dodgers get tons of fans and popularity, so they make way more money to spend on players. The Athletics get no fans and no popularity, so they never spend that much on players.
