Just based on his slant for so many years, and where he puts his support, I am inclined to think that too. Maybe I'm biased - but I'm not very surprised by this, and I have to wonder how many other actors and musicians will make the exact same mistake in the coming days. There'll at least be a few more, because they tend to be among the most remorseless people I've ever seen after making just plain awful statements - especially when those comments pertain to a politically charged subject - they've been the most downright vicious people I've ever seen.

His apology means nothing. He cancelled the tour because he is facing deportation and cancellation from all his venues. He is trying desperately to save his ass.

A senator (from an opposition party that isn't friendly to the current Government) called for deportation, but there has been nothing from anybody in the actual Government departments who would be involved in actually deporting the band. So at this point it's just criticism, not an actual move to deport. Still, the criticism against Tenacious D from politicians has been fairly bi-partisan in Australia.

I thought quite highly of him. Recent politics and the malice driven takes from high profile people, lotta otherwise good folks are bringing themselves quite low. Maybe he just never tried to see what the other side actually believes and stands for so much as just letting the gossip make up his mind for him? Last several years have been a good reminder we need to hear it from the individuals themselves and not merely stop at the words of the accusers.
From the reports I've heard, venues across Australia cancelled the band's reservations after that show. It's pretty easy to cancel your tour when no one will host your gig.

I gave up a promising career as an actor in the early 90's because I was not willing to pro$titute myself to be a 'star'. I miss acting a great deal, but I do not regret that decision one bit.
