The Periodic Table: Crash Course Chemistry #4
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 бер 2013
- Hank gives us a tour of the most important table ever, including the life story of the obsessive man who championed it, Dmitri Mendeleev. The periodic table of elements is a concise, information-dense catalog of all of the different sorts of atoms in the universe, and it has a wealth of information to tell us if we can learn to read it.

Ok boss
THANK YOU
A neutron walks into a shop and says,"I"d like a coke."
The shopkeeper serves up the coke.
"How much will that be?" asks the neutron.
The shopkeeper replies, "For you? No charge."
this is so underrated
Good one
The neutron says "Okay, I'll take it"
The shopkeeper asks "Are you sure?"
The neutron says "I'm not positive."
JAJAJAJA
My new favorite joke.
I actually love this comment section. It’s pure Au
My teacher threw sodium at me. Thats assaualt
this is underrated
Thank you
Did you pepper spray them?
*sodium chloride
If he did throw sodium at you it would combust as it hit your skin due to the moisture that is on it😐
Are you okay about what you’re teacher threw at you. What is a sodium, and when did you’re teacher throw a sodium at you.I think it must have hurt you.
Can you imagine having as much confidence as Mendeleev? What an icon...

Are you sayin' I'm a noble gas?
Yeah, cause all the good ones argon.
Con Savvy and the rest are all boron😊
Mm....am I a noble gas now?
Guys I can't understand , can anyone please explain it...?? I saw it in many comment section but I can't understand😔😔😔
Chemistry jokes are sodium funny! I slapped my Neon that one.
I C what you did there...XD
I'm scarred for life XD
thank you for this xD
The periodic table is *quaking*
Knee on!!!! Took me some time to figure that one haha
You know, I was going to tell you a chemistry joke, but the only ones I have are Boron, and all the good ones Argon.
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
***** Thank you.
lol, but I didn't get the boron part...
:):):):)

You are right . My Mom scarified a lot for me .She passed away last year in September due to lung cancer ,but before she could die , I told her that I would like to be a Biochemist one day and she agreed(approved) my idea . I will not disappoint her .fFinally I managed to enroll with University Of South Africa this year . I am studying Bsc : Biochemistry and Microbiology part time ,but at this stage I am an Electronic Engineer ,I am changing the stream because I have always loved Biology and Chemistry . Thanks for your efforts Crush course team.
That's awesome man! Remember your mum when you're feeling down! Best of luck mate!
Good luck!!

Thanks cousins and Crash Course for your support .I managed to pass Chemistry .
Is nobody going to comment on how amazing Mendeleev's mother was?

the story of Mendellev's mother is heartwarming :). Now to memorize this damn table :O
Dee Flores look up the "asap science periodic table song" that (kind of) helped me memorized them
I used the one using Cancan and sang it infront because our teacher told us to memorize the whole periodic table. Hahahaha
Crazysquirrel I learnt it in 8 years old and now I'm Chem expert

nobody talks about the Horse here . without the heroic sacrifice of that horse we wud not have any P. table today
lolq
We would, just not as soon.
Without that horse's sacrifice, most of us probably wouldn't have been born! because a chain reaction of events. fire is not matter

I was going to make a Sodium joke but Na
Someones a little salty...

bruh i thought you died
We watched this in Physical Science and no one understood why I was so happy. I was like, "Guys, it's frigging Hank Green!!!"
People told me to be POSITIVE so I lost an electron...
Did they also tell you to never swim?
+Chow Tom Not that I could remember... Why?
+shoaib lodhi when alkali metals which loses exactly one electron reacts with water they tend to do so explosively
So you might wanna lost two electrons and be more positive while be less explosive :D
+Chow Tom Haha.. Sure. I'm doing exactly that. Losing another Electron
Stay positive.
My friend offered me some Sodium Hypobromite, but I was like "NaBrO."
+Hermione Granger woah.....

or how about...
Two electrons were walking down the street and bumped into each other. One asks, "Are you okay." The other says, "No, I don't think so." "Well what's wrong?" "I think I lost an electron." "Are you sure?" "Yes, I'm POSITIVE" :)
How can an electron loose an electron? I think you meant an atom
Oh, whoops. Haha yeah that's what I meant. Thanks!
@@psychedelicpain420 the electron is inside the atom so he should say I lost a charge and electron is negative charged
@@whyyoulooking4944 I appreciate the effort, but I already knew that. What I meant was, that an atom can loose an electron, but an electron cannot loose an electron. An electron doesnt equal charge, but the difference between protons and electrons. That defines charge.
You guys seriously need to make a Physics Crash Course. I'm in Germany as a foreign exchange student and I'm learning these two subjects... without ever having learned them before. Your Chemistry courses are life savers. You should help me to keep from drowning in Physics as well. If you please.
Actually, math would be really helpful as well.
I like how this video is only nine years old, but the Table of Elements has updated since then. We found more!
I hope you know that you have literally been my chemistry teacher this year Hank. Thanks for all you do!
when you science so hard you completely rekt some French dude who thinks he knows better

As a high-school chemistry teacher, when I'm looking for a good video to support a section of the book, and I find one made by CrashCourse, I know my search is probably done. Thanks for making these captivating and informative videos, and I hope you see good fruits for your labor in the next generation of young scholars.

Hank, I think you are amazing at showing how some scientists are real life superheroes like in this video or the one about Marie Curie. I am sure it helps hugely in attracting people, especially kids, to science. Very inspiring!

Thanks he was talking bullshit
GSlovers Rock I mean.. It can be cool to know though
horsecrazy2266 Yeah, it wasn't really bullshit, I agree, history is good to know.
5 minutes not even going over the table? The history part can be a diff vid

You guys should do a physics course covering the basic laws of motion and the big bang as well as cosmology

Love the Chronicles of Narnia reference.

There's a mistake at 6:27. Ionization energy is defined as the amount of energy required to remove one electron. Since the halogens have 7 valence electrons and want to gain one electron, it would require tremendous amounts of energy to remove one; hence, the HIGH, resulting ionization energy,

Young Vigilante yea you should've replaced "salt pun" with "sodium pun"
+-SIMPLYPASTEL- Oh Good Grief ... made me laugh tho!
+-SIMPLYPASTEL- Well I was going to make a potassium pun, but K.
Do not wait your whole life to learn what's important now! I have learned many things in my life I would have laughed at anyone suggesting that I would one day pass Trigonometry, Calculus, Biology etc... with a 4.0 gpa and actually use these subjects in my real life. I have been a soldier (Lance Missile systems, N.B.C. "Nuclear Biological & Chemical Operations NCO) as a civilian, I've been a Police Officer, Firefighter and now a retired Professional Line Haul Truck Driver) and I used every bit of my education in all of these job's! The remarkable thing is, While in High school, My gpa was a joke, I just didn't care. I failed all my math classes, never past chemistry, and only had two "A"'s, one in child and the other (strangely) in Greek mythology.
My point is, to those of you younger ones, NEVER EXCEPT ANYONE TELLING YOU TO JUST QUIT! They and believe me "YOU" most of all have no clue yet where your life will lead you.!!!!!!
Do not give up, if someone as screwed up as I was can make it....so can YOU!!!!
