I was there during the inauguration as a boy. Jagdish Tytler inaugurated it. He was the civil aviation minister of India then. There was a great show.

I recollect my life's first flight from Mumbai to Pune. It was in 1990 when I paid Rs 330/-. Every passenger had a wndow seat. The plane felt like a mid sized Bus. Pilots were seated just infront of us. There was no seperate cabin for them, we could see what they were doing. The plane was flying at a height of 500 - 600 feet from ground. We could make out all the landmarks enroute. We reached Pune in about 40 minutes and a cup of complimentry cup of tea. It was a great fun.

However, another aircraft is on order. The aircraft VT-KNP has an analogue cockpit same as its military version. However, the other one will be delivered with a complete glass cockpit with digital cockpit instruments and may require type -D simulator-rated pilots. Do-228 is built under licence from a German company name. "RUAG", which is under Dornier company. The aircraft that you will see in future are going to hold most probably VT-KNR registration.

In the 1980's I have flown the Dornier aircraft that was used by the tertiary airline Vayudoot - subsidiary of Indian Airlines. The service was Agati-kochi-madurai- thanjavur- Chennai. I flew the Madurai-thanjavur-chennai sector
I also have fond memories of vayudoot. As a kid in the 80's have flown many times in Dimapur Guwahati sector. Those days there were no direct flight from Dimapur to Calcutta and other metros. We had to change flight from Guwahati. Many thanks for sharing your experience, it ignited my old memories.

These are old aircrafts manufactured way before themodi era of 2014- to date. And also these are manufactured under the license from Dornier Germany hence it's more of an assembly.

Yes. It went under the name Avro. The technical name was HS-748. I have flown in that craft as a child from Madras to Bangalore. The jet planes used by Indian airlines then was called Caraval. This was before the era of Boeing and Airbus

I flew in Dornier, it was a 19 seater aircraft & I flew from Rajahmundry to Hyderabad under Vayudoots name in the year 1986, i think I paid approximately rs 600 for it, I enjoyed the flight duration was one hour
Vayudoot started Dornier-228 flights from Ziro to Pasighat via Lilabari (North Lakhimpur) way back in 1986. My father was posted in Old Ziro at the IOC fuelling station there and I studied in Hija Secondary School then. The Dornier is originally made in Germany and HAL makes it under licence. I flew many times from Ziro to Lilabari and back on Vayudoot’s Dornier from 1986 to 1987. Nothing new.

I am a Licenced B1 Engineer of Dornier DO 228 aircraft. This aeroplane was first made by HAL Kanpur in 1985. It is a German aircraft which is licence manufactured in lndia from 1985 and has got nothing to do with Atmanirbhar Bharat. So do not fall trap to these BJP propaganda. Vayudoot had been operating on this route Gawahati to Zero with Dornier aircraft from 1985 upto 1998 after which Vayudoot closed down.

This Aircraft has been licence manufactured from the German Company at HAL Kanpur since 1985, long before Modi even entered politics. Dont fall for these stupid BJP propaganda. Also Vayudoot Airlines (Govt Airlines) which has closed down in 1999 was operating all these routes in North East from 40 years back 1984 to 1999. So there is nothing new. In fact it was the BJP govt in 1999 who closed down Vayudoot.

Vayudoot started Dornier-228 flights from Ziro to Pasighat via Lilabari (North Lakhimpur) way back in 1986. My father was posted in Old Ziro at the IOC fuelling station there and I studied in Hija Secondary School then. The Dornier is originally made in Germany and HAL makes it under licence. I flew many times from Ziro to Lilabari and back on Vayudoot’s Dornier from 1986 to 1987. Nothing new.

I am a Licenced B1 Engineer of Dornier DO 228 aircraft. This aeroplane was first made by HAL Kanpur in 1985. It is a German aircraft which is licence manufactured in lndia from 1985 and has got nothing to do with Atmanirbhar Bharat. So do not fall trap to these BJP propaganda. Vayudoot had been operating on this route Gawahati to Zero with Dornier aircraft from 1985 upto 1998 after which Vayudoot closed down.

This Aircraft has been licence manufactured from the German Company at HAL Kanpur since 1985, long before Modi even entered politics. Dont fall for these stupid BJP propaganda. Also Vayudoot Airlines (Govt Airlines) which has closed down in 1999 was operating all these routes in North East from 40 years back 1984 to 1999.
So there is nothing new. In fact it was the BJP govt in 1999 who closed down Vayudoot.

Yes my bad. When I went last year to Arunachal, some driver told me 5 hours. I also returned in 3 hrs only
