I luckily got this in red before they were gone. I have a Ibanez Destroyer same color made in 1981 got it in 83. I love this guitar I replaced the electronics with EMG 57/66 set. I did a minor setup on it and it's amazing.
I grabbed this one in sunburst some months ago and threw a Dimarzio SD and a Railbucker in it and it plays like a dream. Glad to see others showcasing this great guitar! 🤘🏻
Stainless Steel frets and upgraded potted pick ups, some have AAA+ rosewood finger boards. Most guitars at any price point need set ups and adjustments, so really, that's a non issue and more of the norm when buying a new guitar.
I saw the Guitar Max video where he did the Firefly SG copy, the pickups in that sounded great for classic rock, maybe not metal, but that guy can play anything and make it metal. I wonder if they have the same pickups ? I have heard the ones on 60 cycle hums are totally microphonic.
When I look for Firefly online, it seems they've cut 90% of the stuff they used to make, and they have about five guitar models now. You won't be finding this anymore, for example.
I think it's very comparable in build quality to the Epiphone explorers but with step up in fret treatment which is grear for a guitar a third of the price. The hardware on the Epi is a slight step up. Weight wise, in my experience both the Epi and Gibson were a tad heavier. Sound wise the Gibson explorer standard is a tad more aggressive and articulate with better defined mids so clear win to the Burstbucker pickups there as well as the hardware. No flaws on the Firefly really and at a 10th of the price of the Gibby it's a no brainer for someone looking for a low cost but quality explorer style guitar. I forgot to mention the FFXL includes a black pickguard and it looks great with it.

I noticed since Firefly has ramped up production on it's many models now the quality has gone down i bought one of the first set of FFLX that came out a dark green one and it had several issues the set up was lousy 3 of the bridges rattled 2 keys refused to stay tuned and switch nut would not fit if you put the cover plate on simple chords sounded terrible and they refused to refund my money so i ended up selling for a 100 bucks took a 150 loss.....
First review I have seen that is negative of Firefly (I'm sure there is more). Sad no one is commenting. I was thinking of getting a FFX myself and am looking at as many opinions as I can. Sound like the customer service is LOUSY if they treated you like that. Sorry for your experience. I'm taking your comment to heart more then most, thanks.
@@leviathan_is_me Sorry it took awhile to respond having computer issues i do love my Firefly FFLP & 338 some of the people doing reviews get free products so they tend to stay away from saying anything negative no guitar is perfect so i listen to customers comments more than the guy doing the review and i think Firefly did changes to the FFLX so it might be better already
Mine will be here middle of next week. This is my fourth Firefly. I just needed an Explorer shaped guitar and the satin black just looks mean. Those damn pickups though are coming right out. SOOOO microphonic... they are just bad.
@@darrinthompson2514 Well I finally managed to get the guitar yesterday. HOLY CRAP. Like yeah, what they have done to improve their guitars is kinda incredible. Frets are damn near perfect. The only set up I had to do was let the guitar get to room temp overnight and then a tune. And not much of one. The quality of Firefly now is leaps better than it was a mere 18 months ago. I'm shocked.
@@darrinthompson2514 About the only thing I can say negative is the tuners are not the best and are very sensitive. Going to swap them out for some better quality, and locking, tuners. The pickups are MUCH less microphonic than before. Like stunningly so.
They are! Lol. I know ownership and he's shown me a little of materials sourced and you'd be surprised how little some 'high end' upgrades can turn out to be!
Wow? Then my apologies. I take back my comment, im shocked an astounded that they used real M.O.P. for the markers. Harley Benton doesn't do it, or anyone else in that market that does use M.O.P.

Nice review. This is another brand that I have yet to try.
You and I just happen to review the stuff the other hasn't checked out lol.
You should check out the Fireflies. Especially the newer ones. They are great 'authentic looking' mod platforms.
@@RafsGearReviews true 😆
Yes. I did record this on the 4th if July but hadn't had a chance to edit and upload lol.
Another solid product review.
Would love to have one
Sounds great!
Agreed! They did pretty good with the stock pickups here.
I just got the last black one they had last week. I love it and sounds good with my Boss Katana 100 amp.

As of 8/30/22 price has DROPPED ON THIS COLOR to $200 + Shipping. Nice Guitars that serve as terrific "Mod Platforms" should you so desire. :)
Agreed. I can think of very few afforable mod platforms in this realm of quality.
@@RafsGearReviews I own 13 Fireflys. :)
@@LightWingStudios Nice! I only have 6 😅
@@RafsGearReviews Yeah I kinda went nuts the last 4 months. They remind me of the early days of Rondo Music and Agile/SX guitars of which I own 6. :)
Is this a full body size? My most common problem with explorer copies is that the bodies tend to be too small
This is full Gibson Explorer size. I mentioned some of the measurements for reference too.
Great demo! Good job. You need more subs, so I subscribed hehe
Killer riffs man
Aqui estoy!

They go through a lot of models, sometimes they come back quickly and sometimes they don't. Really not sure what the root cause for that is.
Great video demo Raf. Really cool. This is going to be a silly question, but how does it compare to an Gibson Explorer guitar? Nice tone it has.

Did it come with a pickguard?
Thanks, I was wondering what this FFMN model is all about ? There's a single one at guitarsgarden and was curious?
It's a copy of the Olp Axis/Evh Wolfgang guitar. The finish seems to be pretty sharp.
🔥
Looks like a solid guitar for the money. How’s the weight?
It's not too bad! I believe it's at 8 pounds or so.

That's a great deal! Lots.of replacement options on Amazon for $20-$30ish.
