In 2017 I‘ve paid 26,995 Euros for my in York PA built Road Glide Special. Sales discount color superior blue 245 Euros and 4 years warranty also for free. In Germany you only pay what is written on the price tag, easy but not cheaper than in US. High taxes and inflation drive the price up. Good ol’ times! And who doesn‘t know yet: THIS is literally the best HD channel on youtube. Merry Christmas Matt!
Love you Matt, I live on the east coast in Ma. If I lived on the the west coast, any state, I would do business with Laidlaw's H.D.!!! Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Daily So Cal rider since late 80s, owned and rode all brands and styles. I jumped into HD in 16. After getting screwed in a game with 3 multiple HD dealers when buying my new 17 Dyna LRS, I wrote off buying another new HD and bought my next Streetglide private party and have made both performance builds with aftermarket... You guys are exactly what HD needs and if I do get another HD itll be with you guys. Love your stuff and builds Matt. Happy Holidays guys and ride safe.
Thank you for being honest, I hope to meet you in the spring, or summer, I am doing an angel run for my 4 year old baby son who we lost on June 14th of this year, I will travel from east coast of Florida to the west coast in California, I will need a service on the way back home, me and my wife if we get there safe will stop by to get our 2018 road glide ultra serviced, Trying to get the money together for the trip, Thank you for what you do, it is appreciated, all the dealers down here in Florida play the numbers game, until your in the office for signing some papers, then that’s when you finally get the price after a bunch of hours, it should not be like that
Hi Matt. Great concept! I love the OTD Fridays idea. As you know I had a few negative experiences with other H-D dealers. But coming to Laidlaws was nothing but positive. You sold me my 2024 Road Glide in July. It was an amazing experience. I was treated with respect and made to feel like I was one of the family. My only regret was that I didn’t buy my previous bikes from Laidlaws. Keep up the good work.
Godbless you Matt. My local dealer would not give me a price on a CVO until I came in. The 1st offer was $62k!! They had more than 5 2024 is stock in November . I’d love to buy a bike from you!
Merry Christmas Matt to you and your family and employees. I hope you have a great New Year and you're in good health. God Bless you all and protect on 2 wheels.
Matt, thanks for doing this. No more haggling and pressure from the salesman. I am the type that I already know what bike to get so I have no time to sit on the negotiating table while finance and a salesman take turns on leaving me for 5 to 10 minutes to hopefully trick me by adding fees. It’s like a magic show where the magician talks a lot while pulling the trick under their sleeves. Transparency…..I like it…..customers win! Matt, you’re the man!
Still waiting for you to come to Kona MATT! We had an awesome 200 mile ride today all over the island to Hilo and back was such an amazing day with about 250 bikes
Good idea Matt. Interesting approach. I’m on the Front Range of CO and there are 8 or 9 HD dealers along the I25 corridor depending how far you want to travel. I’ve purchased from 2 of them and had service at a couple others. Can’t report any complaints or sneaky tactics though I’m sure somebody has had a bad experience at one or more of them. Mile High Harley in Aurora is by far the best on pricing especially on their used bikes. This is bike country and most of the employees are riders which helps I think. My experience fwiw.
Wish I could have watched when you were going live. Awesome video and topic Matt!! Definitely like the live stream , looking forward to seeing more of this. Keep up the great work and Merry Christmas to you and your family 💯!!
Great vid Matt always follow your content but 9,5% taxes that’s nothing Matt here in the Netherlands sales taxes on the most things are 21% I bought a 2024 Road Glide and paid around 6.000 euro’s on taxes. Merry Christmas you all greeting from the Netherlands
Because of the shady practices of East Bay Harley and their overpriced bikes with markup, I flew to Southern California, bought from laid laws and did my break in back home. Laidlaws put my faith back in harley dealers. I now live back east and most the dealers here are straight forward as well. Gotta give our business to the straight forward dealers, they will keep pushing this industry to more riders. We want more people riding, not getting pushed away. Love Laidlaws
Matt I started doing business with Laidlaw’s in 2010. I have always found the sales practices at the dealership to be fair and above board. Thanks for doing this…..!
Great channel and video Matt. My Street Glide w black instead of chrome was about $1,000 more. That makes sense. These dudes all posting they are grabbing these bikes for 28 grand out the door are full of it. No way.
Due to my horrible dealership experiences, HD has lost me forever and this is coming from a man that has been buying Harleys since the mid 80s. All I ever asked for was transparency in pricing and a deal that's fair for everybody. Why is that so hard? I would have bought two bikes since my last if it wasn't so agonizing.
Thanks to Laidlaw Harley Davidson I got my 2021street bob at there no mark up price in my neck of the woods I said match his price or I will go to Matt in L.A and buy it from him they did not hesitate when you tell them that you are going to pay in full so thanks Laidlaw Harley Davidson 🙏🤗👍
I’m in Albuquerque and we have one HD dealer which I do my parts and clothes shopping, but I won’t buy a new Harley from here. Reason being they don’t put their prices on the bikes. And each time you inquire about that bike it’s a different quote. And compared to other HD dealers ours is always about 3-5k more!
It’s not even so much the straight up pricing, it’s the financing that they really get you on. As you say, this is if you walk in with a check. Many don’t do that. The financing is where they really try to get you.
As a UK based viewer and subscriber to your channel I was a regular visitor to the Laidlaw website however since November this year access to your site has been blocked , I can still visit other H-D dealer sites in the USA as well as the H-D factory site , I just can't access the Laidlaw site anymore, do you know why this is ?
Alligator Harley here in Florida charged me over 2500.00 for dealer set up. It my fault for trusting them during the financing. And then used my GAP credit from my trade in towards my down payment without telling me.
I wish you did this video about three weeks ago before I went and bought one. Maybe you could the another video comparing a 2025 Black/Chrome Vs this 2024 model. ( Do you discount on leftover 2024's ) ?
What a great idea. Hopefully these videos will force a big reset. Wish Laidlaw HD was my dealer. Can you please buy a dealership in the Midwest?! Haha #trendsetter
In 1980 I went into Harley Davison of Washington DC talked to salesman bike had Msrp marked on it They knocked off s couple hundred bucks added tax gave me a price in five minutes ( which I bought) years later and now living in central Florida I have been to 8-10 dealers ifs like a shell game no one wants to give you a price and if and when you get one it’s got all kinds of extra fees on it from cleaning the bike safety inspection etc on brand new bikes Fortunately market place is full of new low mileage bikes which I have bought several. Hoped at one time could go into a dealer and buy a new bike but no upfront enough for me
Cause when a costumer comes in with his old bike. The dealer never says the price of how much of new bike will cost. Their answer is,it all depends what motorcycle you will choose than we will tell you trade in price and how much difference you own for a new bike. Or like you said the websites of most dealers ain’t showing price of the motorcycle that they are selling. Not even going to mention the way they speak with a costumer and treating them selling luxury price motorcycles but the service they providing like they are selling cheapest motorcycles on the market.
I like the concept of no negotiating over the price of a new bike And just use the factory MSRP idea but, wouldn’t that make it tough for dealerships that are next to certain areas like county or state lines where taxes can be much less at a dealer just down the road in the next county? Is it possible some dealers feel the need to move on prices to earn your business and still cover their operating cost with volume sales rather than big profits. I’m sure you don’t want to display what your profit margins are but an old dealership that owns the building they are in can move more on price than a dealer in a big city with high taxes and a mortgage. It’s a dance some dealerships have to dance to survive and sometimes people have to be willing to pay a few hundred bucks more to help keep the dealership around and in return that dealership hopefully repays them with great service.
wow and i thought i over paid for mine. I got my bike for 29k OTD but technically where i traded my bike in it added some negative to it to 32k but seems like a got a good deal
Matt - why do you require an out of state person to travel to dealer for paperwork? I am in NV and have purchased nearly all my vehicles NEW from out of state dealers and have the vehicles delivered to me. This includes vehicles from CA which allows me to pay my states sales tax because I took delivery in my state. Looking forward to your reply.
It’s a Harley-Davidson rule. If you were able to buy a new bike out of state without stepping foot in the dealer they broke H-D’s dealership rules. The reason behind the rule is to protect local markets. Which I understand. They don’t want dealerships doing a bunch of business by selling bikes into other dealers territory and therefore affecting the local dealers ability to stay in business and service those bikes as well.
unless something has changed, Harley Davidson reimburses the dealership for new motorcycle PDI. Setup fees/PDI are pure profit, unless it is covering some add on accessories you purchased
Base 2023 Road Glide price was $21,999 and black paint was free. 2024 the base Road Glide in black is $26,599. Please explain to me why you think the price is less for a 2024.
2023 model year had Standard and Special. There are no more Standard models. He’s comparing the price of “Specials”….which that classification is no longer being used…but he’s comparing apples to apples.
I was comparing it to a Road Glide ST. The standard road glide isn’t similarly equipped. It has a 107 motor and a small screen unless you pay for the 6.5 size screen. Then you pay for RDRS and surcharge. Which is about 2,100 for the two. The standard road glide is slightly less money with all the options and still isn’t close to the equipment on the 2024
The closest comparison as far as features is the 23 road glide ST. MSRP was $29,999 plus RDRS for $1100 plus the $1000 factory surcharge. Total is 32,099. The FLTRX from 23 would need all the optional features and still would be a 107 instead of a 117. So you’d have MSRP 21,999 plus RDRS 1100, premium radio 1000 and surcharge 1000. You’re at $25,099 with far less bike. Smaller engine. No water cooled heads. Inferior infotainment system. The 23 road glide standard is the LEAST apples to apples comparison out of all the model options.
A dealership that gives you upfront pricing, and doesn't use the PC "happy holidays" term but rightly says Merry Christmas. Thanks Matt, great idea with this new weekly OTD live stream.
Love the transparency appreciate the video, Matt. I hope the Ohio Harley Davison dealers are watching and learn something
Hi Matt, Enjoyed your video very much. I like your upfront pricing with no gimmicks. More dealerships should follow your lead.
Purchased a 24 Road Glide in August from Laidlaw's shoppped Southern California dealers beforehand, and Laidlaw's was the best OTD.
Merry Xmas

Merry Christmas Matt!

Great work with camera and editing as always.
Thanks, Matt. The worst “shady practice” of dealerships is applying dealer markup. It’s price gouging customers at the expense of long-term loyalty.

I wish I’d seen this live! So, Matt, basically dealerships should only be charging freight, tax, title & registration?
They can charge whatever they want. I dont believe in Inflatting the price over MSRP and I don’t believe in junk fees.
Matt you looking better man and you got more of a throaty voice sounds more like aftermarket Reinhardts 😂

I like it Matt, I found it very informative. Does your dealership have incentives for first responders or military?
Yes, definitely.
Dealer markups is where and why dealers get a bad reputation. OTD prices around me for that same bike is 43k
😬
I think the bad experiences happened when car dealerships started buying HD dealerships.

7.25 sales tax in Tuolumne county where I live

I am in NV and have purchased nearly all my vehicles NEW from out of state dealers and have the vehicles delivered to me. This includes vehicles from CA which allows me to pay my states sales tax because I took delivery in my state.

It’s a Harley-Davidson rule. If you were able to buy a new bike out of state without stepping foot in the dealer they broke H-D’s dealership rules.
