Very nice. same a bit forgotten but still worked. I did the same in about 1988. a handheld 9v battery 250mw 2 channel kids handheld CB. 1 bit of a figure 8 speaker wire around telescopic end to a straighten coat hanger and eylet by a tight bend, bolted to the top perspex of the pannier rack. Use going along. Lovely 80's experiment. Bet it was worse off than the indended telescopic (daft long thing) on the radio. Days of 2 walkie talkes and did what I could. Proper radios now, just 2m/70cm. 2 handhelds (1 the required baofeng) and cheap 12v thing in the car. Got a dear full suspension electric mountain bike too. Nice to get out on the bike. do 24 miles on a good day.
I did see one bicycle setup where the ground side of the antenna was grounded to the frame through a coil so it could be treated like a tunable counterpoise.
I know how you feel, the amount of times I've popped out to the local park and forgotten things and this includes the radio 😁 that trip ended with a bollocks and ride to the pub 🍻 instead.
I once walked four miles from Bournemouth to Sandbanks, got the ferry to Brownsea Island, walked to the beach on the south of the island and when I went to set up I realised I had forgotten my coax. There was nothing I could do to salvage the situation so I went back to Sandbanks and had a few pints in the Sandbanks Hotel before walking back to Bournemouth🙄
That's a great looking hybrid bike, mate. Enjoyed the video greatly. 73 de K5SFC!
Nice idea with the set up on the bike, interesting to see your converted cycle rack.
