Why wouldn't he? Seth was essentially a hate magnet with his bad diplomacy and narrow-mindedness. So why would he take out the guy who was essentially letting him sit back and durdle?
The gap between Richard and Tom is nothing to scoff at either. Richard has 10 wins, and if you count this game, Tom has 8 wins. However, Richard was out for 2 games where jake filled in (both of which Tom won), and Richard had to pilot some decks which were frankly near impossible to win with (skeletons tribal for halloween, R for alphabet soup, kithkin tribal).
I love how in the intro screen all the commanders are screaming/barking and then you have Azami on the left like "settle down children". Great video guys!
Oh I laughed so hard this Commander Clash. It was just perfect, like when Tom coached Richard even though it was aiming at him, or when Tomer tried to draw cards etc. It was realy fun and I enjoyed it. Keep up the good work.(But you guys should really make a game where Tomer isn't allowed to get more than one card per Turncycle out of his Deck (drawing didn't seem specific enough) )
I'm not sure I got the feeling that you guys were going to try to keep the 'New Years Resolutions' after this video. Which resembles how New Years Resolutions tend to go.
This game overtake the chaos multiplayer game (you know which one I'm talking about) as the best multiplayer game I've seen you guys play. So much politicking , backstabbing, general two-facing, I LOVE IT! Seems like everyone is trying harder to not die early and that affect the game so much. Better than the usual 1-vs-1-vs-2 spectators (one of which is usually Richard) that you guys play. So much politics. THIS is what multiplayer game is all about. LOVE IT. cant say it enough.
A bit of a rogue choice, but I'd include Stifle and Trickbind in each deck I make, as well as Disallow when it comes out. They're too versatile to pass up on. So many game-winning effects are abilities.
Next new years resolutions all of you assemble the Kaldra, no artefact destruction targeting the sword, shield and helm allowed until the Kaldra's are assembled, all 4 of them XD
Tomer, I'm convinced that both you and Richard ,fundamentally, don't understand how to aggro bud. Nice try though! :D A little advice for aggro politics; Build a board state Be scarier than other players Turn your cards right side during the combat phase, leaving a blocker or two. Scare people into being your friends! Punish your friends for their insubordination! >=D Continue to be scary Win PS: DONT KEEP HANDS WITH NO CREATURES! :)
Here's the updated scores: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18GVPrmwgQ_FKoKTGOXE11QpkkrbLKMzznRZfSY1c0cA/edit?usp=sharing Fun facts: This is Tom's second consecutive 1st place finish and the fourth week in a row where Tom has finished in 2nd place or better While Richard still has the lead, if he gets knocked out before Tom next week it'll be the first time that someone other than Richard is at the top of this season's standings
No, to flip it around, have every deck have a combo with multiple pieces. One deck with Kaldra, one with the cycle of empire, one with shrines, etc. Could be funny to see them have to work around a specific combo as their primary wincon. Unfortunately, MTGO does not allow you to play weird commanders that are not accepted by the defaults rules.
Kaldra Equip, Empire artifacts, are some great 3-card combos to build around Bogbrew Witch is a the only other combo I can think of off the top of my head that requires specific named cards.
That was ridiculous game of politics! Hard to believe playing aggro actually makes letting decisions harder. Also, now I think that every playgroup should have a Saskia deck, because it is super fun and interactive.
44:00 Ok Tomer, here is your politics 101: You don't just want to be non-threatening. Because that way you are easy to kill. You want to be the sure that players feel they will be punished if they attack you, but that leaving you alone is fine because you are not comboing. In the case of aggro, the smart way to do that is to tell everyone who is your target. "Ok everyone, by the time I can make my first attack, whoever is the most vulnerable, I will be killing that person. No throwing around attackers. Just attacking until that guy is dead or it becomes too hard to kill." "Ok, so, I've decided I'm killing tomer. I mean, I guess you can try to stop me, but why would you? I'm getting rid of one of your opponents. If fact, you might wanna help me!" If you don't splash on them, they will be ok with you killing the most vulnerable one (the weakest, in many cases) and may even help you.
4 years late, but I think it’s funny that Tom bullied Tomer into board wiping, countered his boardwipe, and then Seth bullied Tomer for getting bullied.🤣
I was really hoping for a sudden spoiling or another split second card to pop up with the final azami trigger on the stack. Would have simply been hilarious.
Man... I get that Richard wins a lot, but when Tom and Seth freaked out on Tomer for not attacking Richard, I was stumped... Tom threatened Tomer into wrathing, allowing him to make an alliance with Seth and the 2 of them ganged up on Tomer the first half of the game and then get mad at Tomer for not attacking Richard?! In the end Tomer ended up doing nothing all game... But I get you want to keep stuff up when 1 person is threatening to counter everything you play and the next is smashing you for no good reason every turn...
Nine minutes in....I hear Tom's wheeling and dealing and literally just started laughing for the next several minutes. And then Tomer with Read the Bones. XD Also, please. Step One: Behold the Beyond. Step Two: Kaldra. AND HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!
Oh, and for the next Viewer submitted decks week, my personal one. I feel like someone would have a great time with it (Odd synergy/combo jank and goodstuff): www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/531215#paper Note, constantly being tweaked and it may need some tweaking for your play group.
Sometimes its kinda painful to listen to the: "Pwetty pwease don't kill me" haha. Cool episode tho and im starting to become a bigger fan of Saskia, she seems so fun!
White weenie but no Armageddon or Ravages :( Having say games, yeah, those two cards would have been nice help. Can't get wrathed if they can't cast spells, though of course Sol ring and like rekts it. Mind over matter untaps lands, you only need mana crypt if was empty handed.
Tomer, friend, I'm telling you Esper artifact recursion is the way to go for Kaldra, maybe cranial plating or tezzeret for a win condition and your good to go. Think of all the card draw blue/artifact cards give you. Sharuum is your friend.
loved this episode. by the way, couldn't Tom have played Azami and just only used her ability to draw on other people's turns? (not including Seth due to abolisher) Spirit of the Labyrinth sets a one card per turn limit, not turn cycle
I don't know if you can do it on MTGO, but it would be fun for a 2HG game with Tomer and Seth vs Richard and Tom or an Archenemy with Richard as the archenemy .
2HG was a thing on MTGO until Oath of the Gatewatch released the "Surge" mechanic and they decided to scrap 2HG entirely rather than code the Surge cards or just ban them instead. We can still do team games but MTGO won't enforce the rules, we will.
Texas Dice Ah, I misunderstood, sorry - in this case he didn't need to get it - I thought you were saying he didn't need the mana vault in the deck which I would disagree with.
Jean Marais situationally. Protection means it can't be blocked, targeted, dealt damage by, or enchanted by X, where X is what it has protection from. If Mother of runes gives ______ protection from red, it can't be blocked by anything with red in the casting cost, targeted or enchanted by a red source. Even easier in this match, if MoR gives protection from blue, it means that Tom can't touch anything that MoR protects
I am going to be honest. This was my first video of this series and will likely be my last. No one has a clue about what their cards do (spirit of the labyrinth) and it is on mtgo. The latter especially is disgusting. Commander is a card game face-to-face.
There was a point where Seth could have killed Richard, or at least killed all his creatures and put him to next to no life. Sudden shock on Lab Maniac at the end would have made my day.
I like how all the aggro generals are yelling, and azami's just like "Shut up, I'm trying to read."
1ZL Funny too, I actually play Azami irl!
I love tomer with his group hug aggro
Tom is such a good friend to the guy who disabled half his deck with Spirit of the Labyrinth and Grand Abolisher
Why wouldn't he? Seth was essentially a hate magnet with his bad diplomacy and narrow-mindedness. So why would he take out the guy who was essentially letting him sit back and durdle?
Bryan Tan Also, as he mentioned, he and Seth have extremely low win rates.
Sanketh Bhaskar That's Tomer - Richard and Tom have the highest win rates.
Best commander clash ever! There was a genuine character arch that everyone went through this episode. So good!
loved that setup of forcing tomer to cast a wrath only to betray him and counter it. well played tom
The game was ok, but what makes the video great is the friendly banter between the four of you. Thank you for uploading this. Made me smile. :)
I love how in the intro screen all the commanders are screaming/barking and then you have Azami on the left like "settle down children". Great video guys!
"Attack Azami until dead" is solid advice. Even the non-combo versions are degenerate enough to be a big danger.
I think Seth should play atraxa. She somehow fits all his resolutions and fits his playstyle.. as long as he actually casts her too XD
Man, we get our own New Year's Eve countdown in the form of Tom's deck size!
I'm not sure I got the feeling that you guys were going to try to keep the 'New Years Resolutions' after this video. Which resembles how New Years Resolutions tend to go.
Great clash! Very fun to see y'all struggle and/or succeed with unfamiliar play styles. Really good video and glad Saskia got a second chance.
Seth, you died first, but you died a hero!
Aww Tomer should have had to play a strict theme deck because of all his spooky boots shenanigans, that would have been funny.
Oh man, this was probably the best video you guys have done. I was literally laughing out loud.
I'm everyone's buddy! Am I doing it right?
I really needed these laughs right now.. thanks guys.
You should TOTALLY play archenemy with Richard as the enemy. That would be soooo much fun!!!!
Very entertaining episode. Lots of actual laugh out louds on my part. Keep it up guys.
"I don't even have wiggle room to lie, because I have it recorded"
Tomer's footage mysteriously vanishes...
9:40 Tom the master of negotiation and sticking to the very letter of the contract and no more.
"I'm everybody's buddy... am I doing it right?" 😂😂😂
This game overtake the chaos multiplayer game (you know which one I'm talking about) as the best multiplayer game I've seen you guys play.
This is the first clash I've watched, defiantly will be looking forward to more in the coming year !
you should (could) watch them all, the older ones are also really enjoyable:)
A bit of a rogue choice, but I'd include Stifle and Trickbind in each deck I make, as well as Disallow when it comes out. They're too versatile to pass up on. So many game-winning effects are abilities.
_Opened mouth_ tribal ! Azami you screwed...
15:30 Yes, I suppose WotC R&D guideline is to make _"until next turn"_ effect (up to one) for PW card.
Next new years resolutions all of you assemble the Kaldra, no artefact destruction targeting the sword, shield and helm allowed until the Kaldra's are assembled, all 4 of them XD
Wrong starting hands sorry! Here are the correct ones:
imgur.com/a/wzKJi
Tomer Abramovici Is that a hint for next week? O_o
Tomer, I'm convinced that both you and Richard ,fundamentally, don't understand how to aggro bud. Nice try though! :D
A little advice for aggro politics;
Build a board state
Be scarier than other players
Turn your cards right side during the combat phase, leaving a blocker or two.
Scare people into being your friends!
Punish your friends for their insubordination! >=D
Continue to be scary
Win
PS: DONT KEEP HANDS WITH NO CREATURES! :)
I was very confused
Man, if the deck with six creatures isn't supposed to keep a hand with no creatures I forsee a lot of mull to fives.
My bad, didn't read the deck list. Still, point is, need to be scary and do damage. No slow hands.
Here's the updated scores: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18GVPrmwgQ_FKoKTGOXE11QpkkrbLKMzznRZfSY1c0cA/edit?usp=sharing
Fun facts:
This is Tom's second consecutive 1st place finish and the fourth week in a row where Tom has finished in 2nd place or better
While Richard still has the lead, if he gets knocked out before Tom next week it'll be the first time that someone other than Richard is at the top of this season's standings
GoyfAscetic thanks!
another new years resolution : stop killing tomer first
loved the double cross by tom in beginning, lol.
All I'm missing for my Azami EDH for the combo is Mana Crypt. I already have Maniac and Mind over Matter
Tomer's resolution? Assemble Kaldra
"Just tell me what to say!"
Good laughs Tomer
next week make every deck have the kaldra pieces and the throne scepter and crown of empires pieces
There's always Viashivan Dragon Kappa
Bogbrew Witch and Spy Kit, gg
That was the funniest commander clash ever.
That was ridiculous game of politics! Hard to believe playing aggro actually makes letting decisions harder.
Also, now I think that every playgroup should have a Saskia deck, because it is super fun and interactive.
16:58 How is this card not legacy playable? 2B Scry 2. You lose two life. Best card ever confirmed
It's a shame the game turned out the way it did - I love the idea of Isamaru as a Commander.
Good game with "Isimuru"
44:00 Ok Tomer, here is your politics 101:

If you don't splash on them, they will be ok with you killing the most vulnerable one (the weakest, in many cases) and may even help you.
Zurgo Helmsmasher: Everybody's buddy!
4 years late, but I think it’s funny that Tom bullied Tomer into board wiping, countered his boardwipe, and then Seth bullied Tomer for getting bullied.🤣
This one was fun.
I was really hoping for a sudden spoiling or another split second card to pop up with the final azami trigger on the stack.
Would have simply been hilarious.
I'll be honest, I think that Richard should always be dead first, lol
I could have guessed the winner in the end would be the cancer XD
Only one blue deck, fancy that.

AND HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!
Oh, and for the next Viewer submitted decks week, my personal one. I feel like someone would have a great time with it (Odd synergy/combo jank and goodstuff): www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/531215#paper
Note, constantly being tweaked and it may need some tweaking for your play group.
Just stated watching and got to Seth's deck tech - "spend too much time drawing cards"? Does not compute.
I actually have the precon Saskia commander deck & a Zurgo Helmsmasher commander deck (mostly made of janky stuff from OGW back) :)
Tomer and Seth didn't draw enough cards this episode xD
Commander Clash : The Search for Kaldra.
Sometimes its kinda painful to listen to the: "Pwetty pwease don't kill me" haha.
Cool episode tho and im starting to become a bigger fan of Saskia, she seems so fun!
Literally Seth tells Tomer they need to team up every video. Literally every video Seth tries to kill Tomer first. Logic.
what what? last one of the year!
The Morph creatures read "Moron" at full-screen resolution.
Sweet game, i love your videos
I think starting hands were from a different game.
Seconded: tom's playing mono blue with a mountain.....
Eep sorry! Here's the starting hands:
imgur.com/a/wzKJi
Tomer Abramovici, you've just made my abacus )
(;
Tomer fail #1 :)
Is it a fail that he used his real account instead of MTGGoldfish O_O
White weenie but no Armageddon or Ravages :(
Having say games, yeah, those two cards would have been nice help. Can't get wrathed if they can't cast spells, though of course Sol ring and like rekts it.
Mind over matter untaps lands, you only need mana crypt if was empty handed.
I cried laughing so many times in this video.
Tomer, friend, I'm telling you Esper artifact recursion is the way to go for Kaldra, maybe cranial plating or tezzeret for a win condition and your good to go. Think of all the card draw blue/artifact cards give you.
Sharuum is your friend.
Azami should have had all teacup lands. She is after all the lady of teacups.
Jace's sanctum? I think you mean the hall of Jacestice
Why didn't seth block Rickard with his indestructible commander?
loved this episode. by the way, couldn't Tom have played Azami and just only used her ability to draw on other people's turns? (not including Seth due to abolisher) Spirit of the Labyrinth sets a one card per turn limit, not turn cycle
Are you guys going to use Tomer's perspective anytime soon?
I waited till the end if Tomer was going to Sudden Shock the Lab Maniac while draw when the deck is empty on the stack. Sadly didn't happen. :(
'We can be friends Tomer.' :)
I'm sad no one played Zurgo Bellstriker.
We can still do team games but MTGO won't enforce the rules, we will.
sounds like you guy broke the tomer... good job!
Morph is a special action not an activated ability
No more 1080p? :(
It's so bizarre for me to look at a playgroup where an 8/8 for 8 that gives some indestructible is a good card.
Why didn't Richard get "Stonehoof Chieftain" back after Seth's "Journey to Nowhere" went away due to being defeated?
You don't need the mana vault, Tom could've just dumped three cards to untap 3 lands and then cast lab maniac.
Texas Dice But if he doesn't have enough cards then he's screwed - safer to have the mana vault.
he did though.
Texas Dice Ah, I misunderstood, sorry - in this case he didn't need to get it - I thought you were saying he didn't need the mana vault in the deck which I would disagree with.
your guys games are awesome lol
Hilarious game guys!
did anyone else notice that the starting hands were completely wrong
oh wait, just read the description, oops
why not play ankle shanker Tomer?
The decks were cool, but they seemed really suboptimal, just for the sake of it. Azami in particular, is definitely in the top 10 of OP commanders.
Tom making the best political movement ever.
Can you explain me how saskia killed gideon???
You could have saved so much life with mother and blocking....
I was thinking this the entire time. If he had blocked even once that last attack would not have been lethal.
mother of ruins can make something unblockable, right?
Jean Marais situationally. Protection means it can't be blocked, targeted, dealt damage by, or enchanted by X, where X is what it has protection from.
If Mother of runes gives ______ protection from red, it can't be blocked by anything with red in the casting cost, targeted or enchanted by a red source.
Even easier in this match, if MoR gives protection from blue, it means that Tom can't touch anything that MoR protects
Purphoros next time?
Aggro decks aren't political they pick a player then focus them to death.
aggro decks have to be the most political to win
How many adult beverages were drunk prior to and/or during the game?
2018 and this is one of the funniest games I'v seen you playing. you really can't play aggro, haha.
Where are the decklists?
Updated the description: www.mtggoldfish.com/articles/commander-clash-s2-episode-21-new-years-resolutions
Wait so why aren't we seeing this from tomer's side? I'm confused
Tyler Kingery I was deleting old recordings to free up space and accidentally deleted this one :(
ACommonCauseMTG gotcha makes sense. Was just a bit confusled.
ACommonCauseMTG Tomer - "I don't have any wiggle room to lie because this is being recorded." What a convenient...coincidence. ;)
Tyler Kingery I like seeing it from tomer side
I am going to be honest. This was my first video of this series and will likely be my last. No one has a clue about what their cards do (spirit of the labyrinth) and it is on mtgo. The latter especially is disgusting. Commander is a card game face-to-face.
Most of their videos aren't like this. They completely switched archetypes for this one.
There was a point where Seth could have killed Richard, or at least killed all his creatures and put him to next to no life. Sudden shock on Lab Maniac at the end would have made my day.
Do you guys plan to continue the "This or That Magic" series?
It will be back next week. Took a bit of a break for the holidays.
MTGGoldfish Good to hear. Hope you guys enjoy New Year's eve.
WHY DDNT SETH BLOCK THE SACRIFICE SELFLESS SPIRIT?!
JP L When?
Isamiru.
on turn 7 seth should have blocked with his commander and mommed it goving it protection from green and blocked the 8/8
That's not really why you play Mother of Runes in an aggro deck. It wouldn't have been worth the risk.
I laugh so much!!! thank you!
