I’ve never experienced my neurologist discussing my MRIs to this depth… it seems as tho he should and for a patient to understand their disease more it is critical. Frustrating that so many don’t.
Same here. My neurologist has never once gone over my MRIs (in eight years) I don’t believe they’ve reviewed them. Even when they recently scheduled an “MRI follow up appointment”…they just want to know what drug I’m getting on. This video was very informative.

Thank you for this, explains my leg weakness and continence issues much better now! My neurologist is so busy all the time and I am stable now so we haven't really gone through my MRI in depth. I have access to my own MRI images so being able to compare them is great, the only thing I knew I could see were my herniated discs!
Dr. Boster, another excellent information video. In your experience, do you hear patients tell you that prior to their MS Diagnosis, results from a Cervical / Thoratic CT were interpreted as stenosis or bulged disks but then a Cervical / Thoratic MRI made an MS Diagnosis possible? Can the CT Cervical / Thoratic CT accomplish the same thing as the Cervical / Thoratic MRI? Thank-you so much for your continued dedication to ending MS.
Very informative, thank you. It seems that as imaging keeps getting better there will be advancements in classifying and quantifying areas of demyelination such that eventually a “demyelination factor” can be calculated. Right now it seems so qualitative - “probable lesion here, no change here, significant lesion here, maybe something here...”. Kind of like the atrophy data you have presented. Just a thought from a data geek. Thanks again.
I have lesions on the left and right frontal lobe and lesions on T2,T11 and T12 and Spondylosis C5,C6,T 7,T8,T9,T10,L4 and L5 with pinning and extrusion on T7 and T8..fun times haha. Thanks for the vid.
I now understand why my RRMS of nearly 30 years has been mild and spinal sensory. My lesions must be dorsal affecting sensory (numbness, pins & needles, burning, loss of joint position sense, MS Hug & L’Hermittes) Thank you Dr Boster xxx
I taught myself to read ct scans to a small degree by getting disks of my own ct scans and x rays. I was able to find my abdominal aorta because I knew I had atherosclerotic disease in it which meant white spots as calcifications on breast exams are white, so I figured I would be looking for something that breaks off into 2 as the atherosclerotic disease splits into the iliac arteries, so I watched the little animation back and forth on bounce mode. I read white blood cells try to assist by eating the plaque but it kills them and they end up becoming part of the blockage. Crazy. I was able to find my hernia, too. I was able to find my broken hardware. Also, a deep slice it seems in the left side of my abdominal peritoneal cavity on the left below the breast that is not seen on the right side, although I can see the clamps from my cholecystectomy and a deep cut from the same I'd imagine. I also did note on a side view of imaging of my spine some places were slightly lighter than other places. I spotted on imaging from 2018 broken hardware they told me was fine but I knew better because it feels like a bomb going off inside you when the hardware or bones break. I'm going to look again for the light spots, but Microshaft murders my external CD/DVD's on purpose. They did it to my +and my - players. I will buy a new one. They don't even seem to like me using a usb hub. They seem to enjoy murdering the ports. Butt nuggets. :)
Hello Dr Boster from the UK. Your explanations are superb and much appreciated. Is it possible an arachnoid web be an MS lesion (T6)? I have all symptoms you describe which I find extremely upsetting, particularly sexual problems, anorgasmic from the opposite! Balance shocking and getting worse. Left leg numb and now getting weaker. Many other PPMS symptoms. Now experiencing symptoms of POTS. BP 190/110 From 120/70. Pulse 120 from resting 56. I know all linked with the thoracic region. I would welcome your opinion; a ball park (note US connection) comment as I know you cannot give individualized advice. Many thanks. It is such a shame you are so far away. As always, thanks for these videos. It is amazing what we can observe inside our bodies! I know this was an MRI specifically looking at the spinal cord for MS, but are you able to observe any surrounding tissue or organs? For example, it almost looks like you can see the lungs, and maybe the kidneys? Could you see a tumor, or kidney stones, for example, or is the MRI focused only on the spine and the rest of the body is too out of focus to catch any other problems?
Seriously please do more MRI videos. I've been sick for years & I can barely walk more than 2 hours a day at this point. You hit the head on "depression" in a different video. Everything I've been experiencing was described - I knew I was depressed: but now I understand how it's affecting cognition etc. anyway - I'm waiting and waiting on this Neuro; who has now ordered an LP, after she wavered on just starting treatment. She said just starting treatments without completing the MCd Criteria, might get my meds denied *lies* I'm still currently high positive for EBV IGM/IGG. I've been sick for almost 2 years all together at this point neurological symptoms wise. Also, I Syringomeyila (spelling); in my thoracic & Cervical (which she knows & my neurosurgeon said "no one should ever manipulate the cord"). My Numb feet, hands, not tingling.... but numb. I Woke up with numb feet in May 2021. The hands really freak me out when they happen & im scared to death. I have zero medical help - zero family support: I mean it's like abusive. I'm doing really bad & need as much help as I can get. I heard about you from an MS support group for women on FB. You're absolutely amazing. I wish I could send you all my information MRI's bloodwork, symptoms, medical history etc. & get help. I've been sick for so long 💔 I just don't know what to do anymore.
Turns out - I’m diagnosed with both RRMS and a syrinx as of 12/15/22 🎉 I knew that syrinx had to count as MS spinal cord damage in some way. I’m frigging tired

Why do docs not do T-spine MRI's? I was told that MS does not generally effect the T-spine. My lesion was C-spine and a year and a half later the neuro only wants to do a follow up brain MRI. I want to see what is going on in the most effected part of my CNS and he is fighting me.

I have a couple of lessons on my T spine that’s made me unable to walk. I have degenerative disc disease my neurologist says my back looks like oatmeal. Lol

Curious question about brain lesions. I had a new lesion on the right side and had equilibrium and tipping to the right side as my only symptom a few years back. If the cerebellum controls equilibrium and balance how could one on the right side cause that symptom? I'm on the PRMS spectrum of PPMS.

Hello dr Boster,i'm 30 year old male, i've been having some strange weakness and instability in my legs for the past year or so, my mother has been diagnosed with ppms, that led the doctors to suspect the same disease with me, i did mri of brain and cervical spine with contrast and it all came up clear, now the doctor ordered thoracic spine mri, is it possible for ms lesions to be present only on thoracic spine ? What can it mean to have slight numbness on both sides of the body? No lesions on my spinal cord, 1 on my brain stem and 3 in the middle of my brain.
