Philadelphia Phillies take over NL East, MLB Power Rankings, Paul Skenes' debut & more
• Philadelphia Phillies ... - Спорт
Who is the top team in the NL East?
Phils for now! Braves will win! Hope it’s a fun close run… don’t count out Mets either
How is your hair even WORSE!!!
Keep up the good show!!!
Obviously the Braves, the Phillies have a super easy calendar
Braves
As a Braves guy, credit to Philadelphia for handling their business. I do think the Braves will take it….the Braves are still soft, stubborn and lackadaisical. The Braves pitching is adequate but if their offense is what they have been, then Philly will take the division.
It’s the Phillies year. A born Mariners fan but I think Bryce Harper is the greatest!
Me too (Phillies Phan) lol
Agree with Baltimore owner but Phillies' John Middleton is pretty amazing too
He sure is.most of all,he loves playing here, all these guys do and it's NOT a easy place to play.
The one thing about the Phillies you could point to as a potential weakness is the defense, but when you see how Alec Bohm and Bryson Stott have come along massively in that aspect of the game, and then having Marsh, Merrifield and Rojas back there platooning a bit (can slide either Schrwarber or Nick into DH depending on the lineup that night and if they'll be a liability), what was once a big fear and considered the "Philly Experiment" (Slug your way through Defense mishaps and errors that cost runs) is now showing itself to be pretty unfounded at this point.
Minus some shakiness in the bullpen, Phillies just feel like a complete team. Obviously can hit, have a deep rotation and some arms in the pen, can run the bases with speed, and now they're getting some real solid defensive play especially out of Bohm and Stott.
Watching the Phillies has been great. Suarez is piching, fielding, and going deep every start. Hes my No 1 and Wheeler is 2 starter on a early Allstar team.
The pitching has been so exciting to watch this season. That first game in the Dodgers-Padres series was an awesome pitching showcase with Glasnow and King. They were both so good.
Ben, so glad to see Justin pitching great on Sunday in Motown. Astros could use a little lift similar to 2005 (when Houston started 15-30 and would eventually get to the Fall Classic) to get back in the swing of things. They now go back to H-Town and hope to conquer a few demons.
Guys...great stuff.Im a Philadelphian and am a harsh critic of UA-cam waste of timers, you are not that! Great coverage,no homer crap and fun .I'm on board
Thank you!
Still early, but the Phillies have been fun to watch early on, which is something I haven’t been able to say for a long time. I am hoping they can keep this up all season and show up in the postseason.
For a long time? Dude NLCS last year and WS 2 yrs ago!! Stop please
@@user-ll5si8uh4r I guess you missed that “early on” bit I wrote huh?
The Phils leap forward this year is due to Bohm, Marsh and Stott entering their primes at the same time, and all those primes looking pretty darn good.
Phillies need one more Bullpen arm and I would feel absolutely confident
One more dominant righty. Unless sir anthony can somehow become 2022 sir anthony. I don't have a lot of faith in that happening.
As a Phillies fan, it’s funny seeing people focus hard on the starting rotation and say Wheeler is the best.
Suarez has had injuries in the past that disqualified him from gold glove contention due to not having enough innings. It’s sad because he is an amazing fielder and will most likely win it this season if everything goes right.
Even when Suarez is named Pitcher of the month, people still focus on Wheeler. Don’t get me wrong, Wheeler is still amazing, but there’s a reason Wheeler is 4-3 and Suarez is undefeated.
That's not true! Do you listen to Philly sports talk radio?
And wheeler has no run support
Fried shoulda been pitcher of week dude has had two separate 7-inning no hit outings this season, one this week that was 1 out from a combined no-no.
Meh, Rangers been locked in Every start.
Funny to see the braves left field platoon from 23 (pillar and Rosario) on team of the week ha! Miss those guys, glad they are crushing it.
Hard to argue against the Phillies right now. The Braves just aren’t duplicating the last couple of years for now anyways
Might be a good thing for The Braves in the long run. Like making a flip flop from last season and turn it on towards the end of the season.
lol Braves aren’t even going on O right now and they are still 24-12? Plus look at the difference in the two schedules these teams have played. Phillies 30th sos so far.
All you can do is beat the teams in front of you
@@Thomas-Chophousewe all play the same teams the same amount, cant control who you play but the phillies have been dominant and now they have won a couple series missing turner, realmuto, and schwarber. Hell with 5 bench players starting, they put up 8 runs in 4 innings against one of the better pitchers in the AL in Berrios moving his ERA from sub 2, to 4. After starting 8-8, in they put up 13 games with 6+ runs even against various teams ACEs. You are supposed to beat the bad teams, and the phillies dominated them so far this season. They will get tested when the time comes, but the way they have played, its hard to argue that they wont succeed against them as well
@Thomas-Chophouse still professional baseball Holmes
Rubinstein is definitely getting the early stuff right in being a face of the franchise and the front office. Love seeing his participation in the gameday experience.
I think another big test will be how much he supports Mike Elias. It's a GM he inherited, not one he hired. But if he keeps everyone rowing in the same direction with Elias, it'll be a big credit to him.
(As an Astros fan, i miss the feeling that the club was all in, under one direction.)
Also..."find your sausage". I feel seen.
Phillies went into 10th inning and beat the Mets. ⚾️ I think the Phillies are tough. They have two winning and different rosters! All their team members are incredibly good!!⚾️
Insane they winning without JT Trea and Bryce in lineup and just recently without JT Trea and Kyle not in the lineup. Bohm having MVP caliber season IMO
Phillies beat the Mets in 10/Final tonight. I like the Phillies. They are pretty damn good!!⚾️
Crazy that they won that without turner, realmuto, or schwarber starting. Not to mention Bohm, Merrifield, and Castellanos had 0 hits, thats getting value out of your 5-9 hitters
9:57 John Middleton is arguably one of the best owners in baseball, and as a phillies and orioles fan, Ill say Rubenstein definitely has the potential to be a great owner. Much better than the angelos family, who my grandpa actually grew up with Pete. My cousins all got free tix to the game all the time from him until my grandpa said something that ticked pete off, apparently he's a pretty arrogant person lol.
The Philadelphia Phillies will win 99 games this season.
Not taking anything away from them, but Phillies have currently played 4 extra games than the Braves right now against teams with lesser records. I would be interested to see if the presumed "gap" would be as big between them if they were closer in games played. It will not be until August before the games played will be equal (if all games are played as scheduled) but i do have a feeling the Braves will be back in 1st by that point regardless.
It doesn’t matter all that matters is get into the playoffs
Thank you
Phillies killing those U12 travel teams!!
They are beating teams they should be beating 🤷🏼♂️ sorry they can’t control the schedule given to them
As of right now yea I see the phililes winning thier divistion not only are they playing well but the Braves offensse is not the same this year Acuna bat not only is off but hes getting caught on the bases alot more. Michael Harris had the longest hit drought in all of MLB recently. Murphy still hurt not playing. Olsen has been struggling all season and chasing balls he never did before and flirting around a 200 batting average. The truth is ozzie and ozuna, with some arcia and kelnic have been the ones keeping some what of an offense this year. Braves on paper are the better team but they are not playing like it.
Better rankings than MLB writers
Removing the Angelos family as owners was the key to unlocking Orioles greatness.
If I remember correctly, the Tigers could have had a historically great pitching staff at least one of the years Justin was there. IF all of the staff had matured there at the same time.
Love the Phillies taking the spotlight. Braves need some time under the radar. I am a braves fan btw…
but Phils have not had the strength of schedule to boot so still gotta see how that plays out. They could very well go cold…
meanwhile braves are playing very average offense (pitching is great last few weeks esp Fried what a beast)… and we still have top 4 record in baseball. That should scare people more
I’d say with Braves injuries and 3 stars under performing on O the Phils should have a bigger lead. Especially with the difference in the schedules each of these have played.
@@Thomas-Chophousephillies are having some key injuries too. Notability turner who was on fire before his hamstring injury, but realmuto snd schwarber have been out the last couple of games as well. Even phillies bench players Sosa, pache, clemens have been raking, while backup catcher stubbs has been great defensively while also moving runners with endless bunting. Shit 5 bench players in the lineup against the Blue Jays ACE and AL pitcher with one of the best ERAs Berrious got shelled for 8 runs in 4 innings which moved his ERA from sub 2 to nearly 4.
@@Rytoast99 they are good no doubt.
Lol yall play the same schedule as us 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
O's fans are so happy being hosed down by the Rubenstein rather than hosed by Angelos.

@@connerwaybright5731 lol the Phillies said “bring us all the sub .500 teams you can find that way we can take the lead in the East.

Astros had a rough start to the year getting swept by Kansas City, New York, Cubs and Braves and lost series to the Nationals and the Mariners. Astros never won more than two games in a row in April but we're getting more of our pitchers back and starting to hit better as well. Astros will make the playoffs. Right now Astros are only 6.5 games back of first place. You don't win the World Series in April and May or even June. Hoping we don't get dumb and trade Bergman
Phillies got red hot out of nowhere too lol
Phillies' bullpen will prove their relative weakness
Kevin it's actually a strength of theirs.
Kerkering is a rising star, Alvarado is lights out,and they are DEEP
@@JohnnyLapsi mean Alvarado, Hoffman, and Kerkering have been dominate and nearly unhittable so far this year. To add to that Strahm has been much better this year than in years past. The only 2 disappointments in the bullpen right now are Soto and Dominguez who have been wild and inconsistent.
@@JohnnyLaps I did say relative ... I don't really trust them ... We'll see
I guess I don't trust Seranthony and I still have to learn to trust Kerkering. Soto isn't very good, and Alvarado is very good, but somehow I feel like he can be gotten to.
Seranthony needs his mechanical approach fine tuned, hope he gets there..if not there are arms@@kevinking8222
The Philth havent won 11 consecutive series. Its true they havent lost 11 consecutive series, they tied 2 series. 1-1 vs Toronto last week and 2-2 against Cincinnati.
The Dodgers have the best owners hands down.
Lol😅😅😅😅😅😅
Im a phils nut. I think Baltimore is a great young team. It might be a phils Os ws, maybe a phils yanks. I think the Dodgers and Phils meet in the Nlcs, Phils outlast them. We will see if the bye team is cursed. I dont believe it. I think philly is just built for playoff ball. And i think LAD pitching let them down vs ARI last yr. Anyone that remembers the phils dodgers nlcs's of 08, and 09 will remember the home field that lifted the phillies both years over the dodgers, well its even another level now. BTW the phils 1 weakness, is the manager. Its up to how any manager plays the cards. He blew the NLCS last yr, the phils beat Ari last yr in the nlcs in 5 gms, 6 tops. And he blew it 5 different ways. Overusing kimbrel, making suarez face Carroll that 3rd time with risp, not adjusting the lineup when they said they wont put hbto Schwarber or harper, etc etc.nLeading off with kyle and trea running behind kyle. Fastest guy in mlb behindvthe slowest THE MAN CANT RUN. The team is incredible. They will make any managers job easier. But they are at the managers mercy.
Always love how Cleveland plays really well and has the best record in baseball and they get no credit for it. Not even rewarded by cracking the top 5. Just assumptions that "they'll come back down to Earth". But when they have a single bad week, the excuse has been fulfilled and now they're almost out of the top ten. Drop three whole spots. Punished when they win and punished when they lose. Good thing Ben Verlander's power rankings don't choose playoff positions.
Because in October November vs a team like the Phillies they would be swept.
@@broadstbullies9342 Ah, didn't realize complete conjecture about what could theoretically possibly happen or not happen 5 months from now had a bearing on power rankings in May. Wouldn't want to rank teams by how they are actually playing so far. Also convenient you chose your favorite team & the #1 overall team as the comparison. You certain the Brewers, Cubs, & Twins would win a playoff series vs Cleveland, let alone sweep them?

Definitely an argument for braves at five
John Middleton is the best owner in baseball.
There are 13 teams currently over .500 this season. The Phillies have played one of them. The Braves at the beginning of the season, and they lost 2 of 3. Enjoy this fantasy ride, Philly fans. Props to whoever made their schedule.
Didn't you guys just lose to the Padres we swept? Do that a couple more times and they're over .500
@@archieprime irrelevant to the validity of the Phillies schedule.
Finally!! A like mind. Phillies fans are so cocky apparently they don't know theyve done it against almost all under .500 teams. It should scare phillies fans that the Braves are right there knowing the phillies have played their best baseball in many years of course its all against shitty teams where the Braves have had one of the hardest schedules and a way under performing offense and yet the phillies cant pull away. The braves have played at least 5 winning teams
Been an Os fan for a long time but the Os have seriously been slumping and playing bad ball the past week. I was thinking they would be a World Series contender but inconsistent hitting and pitching will probably keep them out of it. Oh and Brandon Hyde doesn't know pitching at all, he doesn't know how to manage a pen.
The Baltimore Orioles will win 112 this year. Bank on it.
@mattsapero1896 We'll see. Could be close to that.
Woooooooooooofuckinghooooooooooooooo 1st place Phillies let's go
Is there a reason they used Eddie Rosario in his Braves uni for team of the week?🤣

@@FlippinBatsPod That's crazy! What are they waiting for? ESPN had Shohei in five different unis for a graphic during free agency
If Phils can't win the east with Braves missing their top 2 starters, that's a failure.
And Phillies core Offense players are all getting hurt
@@julianc6863and still winning
The Phillies weakness is that they are untested, duh. "Theyve won 11 straight series". Thats because the twelfth was their only one against a winning team, Ben.
Cinci was over 500 until they played Philly. Pirates were above 500. ATL wasnt. They were 500 even. And Atlanta played Philly who were below 500. You read too much into that. They beat teams they're supposed to, and Atlanta hasn't swept the teams like the Phillies have. Plus the whole national league is hovering around 500, then they go above, and below. The Phillies were 8-2 vs above 500. Then 3 days later they were 1-2. Then 4-2. And other teams are jumping up and down bc teams are right around .500
I disagree basically the same team that made deep runs the last 2 years I am a phillies fan so maybe there is something I don't want to see there but they are pretty good bro
@Nolan33177 What does the Braves play have to do with the Phillies?!? Anyone with eyes can see they are playing like crap. Ben said he couldn't find a weakness in the Phils. I pointed one out. Your justification is you played the Pirates? Congrats?🤣 You haven't played a single division leader yet. That's what untested means. And for every sweep that proves "you win the games you're supposed to" you go 1-2 against Cincy or 1-2 against the Rox
@user-if8wx3by5g Deep runs? Sure 2022 was fun but last year you beat the Braves aaaaaaaand? That's not a deep run. That's just another t shirt for Phillies fans to make. "We beat the Braves when it matters" which would actually mean something if every time you got a division lead you guys didn't scream your heads off about finally taking it before choking it away. 🤣
Braves fans are so bent out of shape about Phillies schedule. Shows u they care about winning a division cause my reaction would be please win the division so Braves can try WC if I was a Braves fan. It's insane this is there fans focus
I love how Phillies fans mock division titles but a few years ago when you had the divisional lead going into the final weeks y'all were hollering about "this is the year we take it" ....before the braves swept and stole it out from under you for yet another division pennant. Congrats on your "we beat the Braves in the first round" rings tho🤣🤣🤣
@mattadams7558 dude nobody gives 2 shits. U want 20 years in a row with 1 WS win.
@julianc6863 Are all Phillies fans this lacking in self awareness? We went 20 years with 1 title? YOU'VE GONE 42 with 1 title🤣🤣🤣
@@julianc6863 Excuse me, 42 years with 1 title... and still counting. There, fixed it👍
I love how cocky Phillies fans are right now. It's like they havent put 2 and 2 together and thought about how they are playing their best baseball in a decade while the braves are playing their worst in nearly that long and yet the Braves are right there. That should really scare them. They also apparently have overlooked the way easier schedule the phillies have had so far. This far into the season and theyve played a grand total of one team with a winning record which was the braves and they lost 2 of 3 there. The braves have played 5 times as many winning teams than the phillies. Get over yourself guys. Braves 3 big studs have combined for 12 homeruns and yet there the braves are.
@flippinbatspod can we get chapter markers?
their weakness is their outfield. need to make a trade to replace Nick Castellanos who's horrible
How can Orioles owner be best in baseball when he hasn't spent big money on FA yet? I'd take Phillies owner or Dodgers over him any day
Hey, wake up your who family is probably living off your brother!
These guy's in the MLB make 300 million per 10 years.
Philly has played a grand total of 9 games against .500 or above teams. How you have themat #1 with that fact is beyond me. They belong top 5 but not #1

Teams play who's in front of them: they've been demoralizing teams -- they're not generally squeaking by with close wins
Their weakness is the bullpen.

@@julianc6863 obviously you do because you are here.
@JohnnyLaps to comment on people like u who are so ass hurt about a ranking in May. If roles were reversed Phillies losing to Braves Last 2 years when it mattered you all would focus on that.
Once again this show has no context. Phillies taking the East? Ask Sal Fasano how his "hot take" about the Mets taking it worked out for him. Phillies have had MLB's easiest schedule BY FAR to this point. Who have they beaten Ben?
Atlanta will play the same schedule 😂😂😂😂😂😂 also its how they have FLAT OUT dominated which is what great teams are supposed to do so sit down hater
@broadstbullies9342 Do you not understand how time works? Atlanta WILL play those easy teams. They HAVE played the hard teams already and are still neck and neck. That means while you guys were "flat out dominating" the hapless White Sox, Giants, and Angels the Braves were doing the same thing to the Guardians, Rangers, and oh lets not forget taking 2 of 3 in Philly to start the year right🤣🤣🤣. Now I'll sit down, homer
And wait, Baltimore only got good because they've blown for 20yrs anfld benefiting from top5 picks
lol come on Ben. They took it over bc they haven’t played any teams worth a damn. Braves will be on top in 3 weeks.
This will age poorly once the Phillies start playing teams over .500 in July-August
I can easily pick the weak spots of the Phillies:
Rob Thomson & his addiction to filling half the lineup with bench players (Sosa, Pache, Johan Rojas)
Bullpen is a big issue but our starting rotation has been averaging 7 inning.
Rojas is the starting CF who will occasionally sit against RH starting pitching, Sosa has been playing because turner is injured for 6 weeks, pache is a platoon player with marsh for when they play a LH starting pitcher. And they have all been producing a ton for the team. Same with backup catcher Stubbs, and bench utility guy in clemens who is on fire. Say what you will, but the phillies would have lost several games with all the injuries if these 5-9 batters were not producing.
Just look at last night vs the Mets. Leadoff merrifield was 0-4 with a walk, 2nd Bohm 0-4 with a HBP, 3rd Harper 1-5, Cleanup Castellanos 0-4 with a walk.
But 5-9:
Stott 2-4 with a HR and 2 rbis
Sosa 2-3
Clemens 1-2 with a ph
Marsh 1-2 with 2 walks
Rojas 1-3 with a sacrifice hit rbi and moved runner from 2nd-3rd with 1 out
Stubbs 1-4 with an rbi on a bunt base hit.

Yet, the Braves are only 2 games back after playing back-to-back after back-to-back series against 3 of the top teams in baseball and are still playing teams above .500.
