Eight years ago I watched Sam & Audrey take a budget trip, and slept in a repurposed prison (Audrey thought the prison chef was still working there). Taking Nagi of Mekong, is a huge upgrade, with the guide, buffet, and your accommodations. Having drone footage, also really allows you to show the beauty of the area. Excellent job of explaining the border crossing process. You are inspiring many people to follow your footsteps.

Not that it makes any difference to me, just curious. I hope to retire in a year or two and drag my wife around the globe as we slomad the world for about a decade before we get too old. Your videos whet my appetite for a world of more adventure. Not that we haven't had our fair share of adventures around the world. The river scenery it remind me that I used to kayak down the river started from the slow boat pier all the way down to Luang Prabang, it took us 6 days total I never forget those epic views from both sides of the river, and those small villages along the river Thank you for sharing this beautiful Mekong river trip
Amazing. When I crossed there 10 years ago it was by a little boat and the Laos immigration was a hut on the seashore. Mind you we took the $1 bus from CK to CR. Thanks for this great trip down memory lane.

The river boat looks great . I was in Luang Prabang about 20 years ago and booked a hiking tour through the jungle.it was pretty tough going but fantastic , we never saw anyone the whole day until we reached the village where we was staying . That was the first time that the village had seen Europeans. We stayed the night and was up quite early and as I stepped out side there was a group ok kids sitting there waiting to see this funny white man . Great experience the only draw back were we got covered In leaches going through the jungle .
In 2010 I flew to Huay Xai from Vientiane and travelled by buses to Luang Prabang. Mainly, those little 18 seater commuter buses where they cram in 30 people. Heaps of fun though. It took me a couple of weeks, stopping over in towns and villages on the way. I travelled over the far north, along the Chinese border in some places. Very remote in many places but absolutely drop dead gorgeous. I was living in Laos at the time.
I went down the Mekong river in a slow about about 8 years ago and it was not as luxurious i.e. the sitting arragnments were more cramped but it was a wonderful experience too. We stayed on the boat expect for one night at a bend on the river where we dined and slept-

I done this boat trip 20 years ago on a cargo boat full of cargo tourists and locals very cramped sat on wooden seats very uncomfortable but was a great experience everyone mixing together I love Laos

Thank you! We have carry on size rollers and we love them! I (Sammy) had a really bad back injury a few years ago and there is no way I would be able to carry everything in a back pack. It is a tiny inconvenient at times but not enough to worry about it! Hope that helps!

Before Covid19, Laos was very easy to enter. Tourist visas on arrival. You'll need your passport with at least six months left, a couple of passport photos and 30USD in cash. Fill out the form, hand it to the friendly immigration guy/girl and you'll get a 30day tourist visa. You can also extend your visa at the immigration office in Vientiane.
I thought this video was Feb. 2022 but it was not. It was before Covid " Feb 20, 2022 • Today we are taking a Mekong River cruise for two days to Luang Prabang, Laos!" Made many of us confuse. I am trying to visit family there but evisa have not excepting. The apprication was denied till further notice. I was wondering how you enter the country. Glad you enjoyed the video! You might need to get a visa beforehand but it depends on where you're from. EU citizens, North Americans, and Australians can get their Laos visa upon arrival in the country 👍
I lived in Laos 2007-2015, my wife 2003-2015. Luang Prabang used to be our long weekend get away. Fly up from Vientiane on a Friday, return on Sunday evening. My first trip to Luang Prabang was in 2003 when I was visiting my wife who was managing a development aid programme. LPB has become the hub of Lao tourism and has always been charming for a quick get away. It was a lot more undeveloped in those days, with much less tourists. My wife and I would fly up a few times a year but my favourite place in Laos is Luang Namtha province in the north on the Chinese border. Kind of like what Luang Prabang used to be 15-20 years ago.

Glad you enjoyed the video! You might need to get a visa beforehand but it depends on where you're from. EU citizens, North Americans, and Australians can get their Laos visa upon arrival in the country 👍

I lived in Laos 2007-2015, my wife 2003-2015. Luang Prabang used to be our long weekend get away. Fly up from Vientiane on a Friday, return on Sunday evening.
My first trip to Luang Prabang was in 2003 when I was visiting my wife who was managing a development aid programme. LPB has become the hub of Lao tourism and has always been charming for a quick get away. It was a lot more undeveloped in those days, with much less tourists.
My wife and I would fly up a few times a year but my favourite place in Laos is Luang Namtha province in the north on the Chinese border. Kind of like what Luang Prabang used to be 15-20 years ago.
