You'll be ok...nobody is trying to kidnap you.
The guy made it home safely without a gun. Nobody got shot. Everyone walked away. A gun, added into the scenario, could have ended with the assailant getting shot and the victim in jail with a prolonged court situation, even if he was the victim.
