Or in TOW with the secret closet you could have ended it after Chandler said "What the hell" and walked out with Phoebe instead of just at "well I was gonna-". I don't mean to be an ass it just makes sense :/
Now that I'm older, and out of the closet as gay, I find it much harder to sympathize with Chandler here. Monica's right, his dad came to all of his swim meets and showed an active interest in his life. That's a great dad. Chandler repaid him by cutting ties with him for many years, just because he was embarrassed by him.
I know it’s a stupid question, but after I finished every single episode in this show I still haven’t yet figured out the whole story of chandler’s dad. I mean was he gay before he was married or after and why does he have the intention of turning into a woman because in the episode of Monica’s wedding chandler’s mom said she saw him in a wedding dress when they got married, and I also still don’t understand how he transformed totally into a woman, did he have surgeries to turn his body into a female one?
Chandler's dad was clearly not just gay, but trans as well, but back in the 90s and early 2000s, all of that was often lumped together into just 'gay'. If Friends were made today, they probably would have clarified that. It sounds like Chandler's parents married for convenience, but that's just me speculating. We won't have all the answers, and writing for LGBT+ characters was more lacking back then.
