Watch Mike Felumlee (Smoking Popes) play through Trucks and Trains by Alkaline Trio on the drums.
Love it... thanks 4 the memories
Love this
Thank you. This song brings back a lot of cold, lonely high school night drives, the feelings of sadness and hope and determined perserverance, as the end of it feels like letting go of and leaving behind someone who had or caused a lot of negative energy - someone who was always looking for more or better, but made it your fault, or your misery - someone and somewhere that was stuck, which you knew would all eventually be entirely in your past.
It was crushing, yet goosebump generating, the energy of this song combined with the feelings of love and adulthood's first punches in your mouth. And after you turned away, said 'fuck em', and got to one foot, "Bloodied Up" was the one that made you pick your teeth off the ground like they'd been there before. And leave that shitty, frigid little town, and all the miserable people there who never returned you the same energy, for good.
20 years of adversity, life experience, love, maturation, and a phenomenal live drum performance in a brightly colored room really give it a new shine, though. Much appreciated, Mike.
👏👏Love this. Thank you for your time in A3, so many good songs and drum parts in your era.
I absolutely love this song and your drumming on this album. Might be my most listened to album of all time. And the song bloodied up is the only double time punk beat in the trio discography 👏
Would love to see you more tracks like Mr.Chainsaw or Stupid Kid!
So good. 🙏🏻
Love the song and watching your stick work! I'm a mediocre drummer (for whom Popes n vintage Alk3 are among my favorites)- would you consider showing off some of your favorite Popes songs?
Thanks! There are a handful of Popes songs up on the drum playlist. More to come I'm sure!
awsome man can you come teach my kid to play
