All I cared about was going home to my family and making sure my lads did the same. Is it unfortunate that innocents died? Does that mean that the IRA murderers are going to stand trial, like Martin Mcguinness and such?? Before you condemn soldiers in action, do you know what it is like? Have you ever served in these situations? If you havnt, then who are you to judge
I am struggling to understand why you think IRA and loyalists did not stand trial for their crimes. IRA murderers did stand trial and were handed down lengthy jail sentences, just as many loyalists were also jailed throughout the conflict. Even scores of non-paramilitary civilians were handed down sentences for crimes they did not commit (Guildford 4, Maguire 7, Birmingham 6). But throughout the conflict, only 4 british security personnel were convicted of crimes - add their jail terms together and they served less than 10 years - and at least one of the 4 re-enlisted in the british army. British forces were directly involved in the deaths of 187 innocent civilians and indirectly involved in many more. People are quick to argue that any actions against former british security personnel is wrong and disproportionate - the only thing wrong is the fact that up to now only 4 british security personnel were ever convicted - now that is disproportionate. Just because you wear a soldiers uniform you should not be exempt from the full force of the law if you participate in criminal activities. 187 innocent people, young kids, innocent men and women. If british soldiers shot dead civilians on the streets of London,Manchester or Birmingham, the british public would want justice - why should Derry be any different? Imagine if british soldiers shot 20+ of the striking coal miners or the poll tax protesters when they took to the streets?
@@grime5652 I am sorry for your loss. Did you get justice for his killing? Was anyone convicted? These families suffered the same loss as you - do you believe that their loss is somehow less just because they were murdered by british soldiers?
exactly - they all deserve justice. But why are the people who were murdered that day on the streets of Derry responsible for atrocities committed by paramilitaries? And those responsible for Guildford are well known to the british police for they confessed to this when they were arrested for other attacks. When they were sentenced in an english court, they again made it clear that it was them who planted the bombs in Guildford - but because the courts had already sentenced 13 innocent people for that offence, there confessions were never accepted. Justice for Guildford - then ask your government why they did not investigate these confessions when they had the chance.

Of course no british security personnel were offered the same terms for there wasn't any in jail at that time - even though they were guilty of war crimes and cowardly murders of innocent men, women and children. You are acting like no republican or loyalist paramilitary ever served a day in jail - if that is what you believe then you are truly deluded and very misinformed.
Gabriel Kelly lets also prosecute the IRA gunman that murdered a Corporal and his 6 month old daughter in Holland
The whole establishment should face charges of murder
Eye for eye how about the soldiers who have been shot in the back?
Well that is a warped sense of justice. When soldiers sign up they know the risks - unarmed civilians taking part in a Civil Rights march do not expect to be shot down in the streets by members of the british armed forces - a disgraceful act of cowardice by those soldiers.
Gabriel Kelly Speaking as a former Royal Marine Commando (1997-2015) I would like to ask what war zones or high risk areas have you served in and had to keep completely cool, finger off the trigger whilst angry crowds jostle around you etc? I’ve done it in Iraq and Afghanistan, in Sierra Leone and Bosnia (also did NI although long after the troubles), guess what? It isn’t fun, and the fact that there may be guns or ieds and suicide bombers in the crowd is an ever present worry. All I cared about was going home to my family and making sure my lads did the same.
Is it unfortunate that innocents died? You bet it is, but whilst I’m not making this an eye for an eye thing, there were plenty of innocents killed by IRA bombings in Northern Ireland and the mainland, including men, women and children. They’re no better than the Taliban and ISIS, scum is scum.
@@mementomori4355 Yes the IRA & Loyalist paramilitaries killed and maimed many more innocent people and they were behind some of the most evil atrocities during the conflict and thankfully many of those killers were taken off the streets and thrown in jail for their crimes. But why are their victim's seen as been more important than those killed by soldiers and other British security personnel - was the life of a British soldier somehow more important that the life a 9 year old boy, or a 13 year old girl, or a priest. Who decides whose life is more important. Is murder not murder? Are soldiers above the rule of law or are they just paramilitaries in a uniform?
If soldiers did deliberately murder innocent men, women and children would you also call them scum and declare that their actions were on a par with the taliban and ISIS? Unjustifiable and unjustified?
@@arthurgoodness7865 it's you that has the warped sense of justice...you are not unarmed when ur throwing all manor of missiles at soldiers doing their jobs & when they get fired on & quite rightly return that fire you all start blathering on about unarmed civilians & human rights....what about the human rights of THE totally innocent people enjoying a night out in their local in Birmingham or YOUR own people paying their respects on Remembrance day remembering YOUR own people who gave their lives in two world wars i could go on Warrington, London the list goes on & i dread to think just what would have been the outcome in Gibralter if the S.A.S. hadn't put a stop to it first...but your now going to claim they were innocents as well...honestly Gabriel people like you make me wanna throw up...always opening mouth before engaging brain.
Gabriel Kelly so the murder of a British soldier is fine because he knew what he signed up for? That is some fucked up logic
WELL DONE THE MAROON MACHINE.
Do you mean "well done " to 'Soldier F ' ? … I'm sure he'll welcome your support !
Let Mr. "Soldier F" have a fair trial. But remember that people in the British Army and Marine Corps and also the US Army and US Marines are going to be watching the trial because of incidents in Iraq.
@gerry findon when did that happen. I'm so sorry. US never reported on it
so let them watch
As well they might. 🤨
Fighting in illegal wars is one thing, running amok... committing torture, extra judicial killings etc. etc. in those illegal wars only compounds matters.
The precident was set at Nuremburg - 'just following orders' is not a defence under international law when it comes to war crimes!
Yeah, "Soldier F". On a completely unrelated note, how do you think David James Cleary, that ol sweet fella, is up to today?
Gabriel Kelly I dinna care ya dafty tell that to the IRA terrorists who killed my grandad.
@@grime5652 I am sorry for your loss. Did you get justice for his killing? Was anyone convicted? These families suffered the same loss as you - do you believe that their loss is somehow less just because they were murdered by british soldiers?
Martin's dead, you moron.
Gabriel Kelly its a long a story and the answer is no.
Never take no! For an answer ➕🥊🍀❤️🌙🇮🇪
Justice at last 🙏🏻
...and, what about the victims of Birmingham, Guildford, Omagh, Manchester etc....
exactly - they all deserve justice.
@@plainenglish1774 your government only serves itself - Brexit is a clear indication of this. Lack of planning, blinkered ideas and the negotiation skills of a 3 year old child. An air of self importance and entitlement - Great Britain - the laughing stock of the world.

@@plainenglish1774 Oh my, you have been busy - how many different pages did Google send you to in order to get all of that info lol. Go home ya British soldiers
Happily hope one day you can have the economic burden Northern Ireland is😂😂

108 rounds fired from British military

Every one of those rounds landed somewhere
It looks possible that there was never targets The military just fired indiscriminately Not aiming but just firing single shot after single shot
There could have been 108 victims
Without a care in the world
So should those who commanded the vile occupation and brutality to take place.
Sadly, even if found guilty, I doubt they will serve a day on compassionate grounds due to old age or health.
