  • The New Balance Fresh Foam X 1080v13 and Nike Vomero 17 are both highly-cushioned shoes that are softer than we’ve seen from the lines the past. The Vomero now use Nike’s ZoomX foam for the top layer of its midsole, while the Fresh Foam X foam in the 1080v13 is softer than ever. Kieran and Nick talk through the pros and cons of both shoes in this video, and pick which they’d get.
Check out our reviews of both shoes:

I'm with Kieran, neither of these are on my radar, I'm really liking the Cloud Eclipse as a daily trainer

In terms of durabilidade, Nike shoes recently have impressed me a lot with the Pegasus 40 , Structure 25, and even the Infinity Run 4. I doubt that the Vomero 17 will be any different. But about New Balance shoes , they are not the most durable for outsole and middlesole. So if you need a more durable shoes go with the Vomero but if you can have a few shoes and don't mind one of your shoes lasting less time than what you used to, go with the 1080 .
I got my v13, it is awesome but I already see wear and tear with only 50km ... when I have a chance I plan to get the Vomero 17, but for now, I'm good with Nike's shoes.

      V 13 ? Usure à 50 km 😢

@halmo68 My pair of 1080 v13 shows a high level of tearing of the outsole at 50 km ran only so far. It is so soft that the Fresh Foam at the heel area that it gets more ground contact with every step and adds that soft rubber in the heel for comfort ... but the durability goes down quickly. The shoes are super fun and comfortable to run and even more comfortable for casual use as well than a Gel-Nimbus 25 or Infinity Run 4. Just too bad that my pair of 1080 v13 will have less then half of the lifespan I had with my Gel-Nimbus 25 before I donated it in still almost perfect outsole grip and thickness at near 500km .

Agree I am done with new balance as their outsole and midsole combo have been just not durable enough for daily training. These shoe reviews maybe go to a 100 miles most of us want 400 plus miles for a daily trainer at that price. Vomero 17 I just got and suspect it will be durable .

Must have the same outsole compound as the More v3.

If you want a discounted daily trainer that has a grippy outsole, the Pegasus 39 is still worth looking at. Only 261 grams in a US 10/UK 9.

0:31 error on 1080 V13 weight it's off by 100g extra that would make the shoes into heavyweight category 😁

10mm drop is not suitable for a daily trainer.... Vomero is build for speed workout & 1080 is gd for long distance slow paced recovery runs. My vote is always 1080❤

Quick question if anyone more experienced could help me out It'd be very much appreciated.
Just got the 1080, but as I was walking on it in my room I started realizing I felt something under my heel, almost like a lining. I then realized that my heel (the back of it) is actually standing on the edge of the insoles(which have almost like a ramp at the back and sides, making the actual insole like 0.5cm away from the back of the heel counter). I tried pushing my foot a little bit forward and then when I stepped I didn't feel that lining anymore, as If my foot had then "fallen into" the shape of the insole, but at that point it was too tight in the front and my fingers were hitting the edge of the shoe. When I removed the insole entirely, the problem was also "solved".
My question is, should I get a bigger size, or is it normal for your foot to feel the "ramp" at the back of the insole? Would my foot keep sliding back into this ramp even with a bigger size? Since theoretically pushing it forward leaves space at the heel (even if it's a hair of space). If anyone has the 1080 v13 with a good fit that could help me with this question it would be very much appreciated.
P.S: Also got a SC Elite V3 that has the same issue but even more pronounced (like you can REALLY feel that insole) so I haven`t worn it out yet in case I need to get a half size up on both.

I'd like to get into a two-shoe-rotation, one easy, long, recovery shoe and one speed shoe. Which two could I go for?
PS: have been using the Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 for everything. Still love it, but will have to replace it soon due to 700/800km usage

Vomeros have always looked like that. My 15s look so...thin...up front. I disliked the air pod in the 15s... I'm debating trying the 17 now that it's all foam.
