- We have actually got to start rebuilding our motor! Our 80 horse power 4 stroke Diesel! Ford Lehman! New pistons, new rings, new bearings, bored out cylinders, resurfaced block, crank shaft, and cam shaft! New oil pump, new seals and gaskets!. Cleaned it all up, oiled it all down and started putting it all back together! We are learning so much!! We have had so much help!! We are so thankful!!
Absolutely amazing!!! We just spent the day binge watching your channel (the weather here kept us indoors today) and we are very impressed. Especially impressed not just with the scope of your project but with the wonderful involvement of your oldest son in every aspect. What a fabulous example of family and the real life education of your children. We are very excited for where this is going as a boat project AND the evolution of your family’s future. Thank you for your parenting (good job Dad) and your sharing it all with us. Bravo!
Wow! We are honored and very humbled by this comment. Thank you so much for sharing and for joining us. I can’t covey what a blessing it is for us to be doing this whole thing as a family. We are excited too!! I really hope you continue to join us all the way! Thanks again! You made our day!
Glade, I found your channel love watching these restoration builds, and it's even better you got the whole family willing to pitch in. Plus , I love the fact that I see the kids have great manners for their parents and elders. Can't wait to see next week's video.
Thank you for joining us! We are having so much fun and learning so much! Surrounded by good people helping us every step of the way!
Well done you are getting heart ready to put back in your boat with a bit of help from Victor and Olav be proud fair winds and calm seas Kevin
Thank you!
A little tip to late in to the build, when it comes to cork gaskets. Cork gaskets are prone to leak over time because they get harden, especially around the timing cover because there are so much oil running back down in the oil pan from the timing gears whisping the oil around, heat from the block and crankcase pressure. What I personally do with cork gaskets are using a thin layer of Permatex Make a Gasket on both sides of the cork gasket to give it an extra seal. It's going to be a PITA to reseal the timing cover when the engine is in the boat if the cork gasket starts leaking in a couple of years. Cheers from Sweden 🙂
Thank you very much for the advice! I will definitely do this! I appreciate you taking the time to share this with us!
JUST SOME WISE WORDS. BEFORE STARTING YOUR NEW ENG. PRIME THE INTIRE ENG OIL SYSTEM AND FILL YOUR OIL FILTER BEFORE INSTALLING !!!! THANKS FOR THE GREAT SHOW !!
Yes sir! And, thank you for joining us and for the great advice. We definitely don’t want to burn it all up on the maiden voyage!
Do you guys plan on test running the engine before installing it? That way you can let it get broke in and check for any oil leaks.
Also will be able to test transmission.
Yes and yes. The plan is to do both. We definitely don’t want to get all the way in and have to do take things apart again. Just three or four times while it’s out should do the trick. Lol.
Hello, juste a question, did you check the gap of the rings before?
Yes. We sure did! Thank you!!
