Kai's drum work, Emppu's impeccable guitar runs, Tuomas's matching Emppu, note for note, and Floor's vocal operatic prowess. Amazing.............but the bass lines by Marko thru out the song really hit me. He seems to never be videoed when he is doing great things with his bass!
Tuomas' compositions are always well thought out. He knows how to hold the listener from beginning to end.
The band members perform his compositions with a high level of craftsmanship.

This is such an awesome song, can't wait until you do Buenos Aires, the song "Gethsemane" is amazing, also very heavy on the classical influences and operatic style.

Usually people listen to the version from Tampere. Is was fun to see this version where you hear the audience more in the mix with Floor's intro.

If i had known about Nightwish and Tuomas back in the end of the 90's, i probably continue playing piano/keyboard today and have a different life. So happy to know Nightwish today! Amazing band 🤟

I know Tuomas is heavily influenced by film scores. This particular song always reminds me of LAST OF THE MOHICANS 1992.

this song is a another good example of this woman's vocal abilities and Tuomas as the composer songwriter and arranger too i think its much more of a collaborative effort but as far as this kind of music they create they have definitely raised the gold standard for this music and the production that is required behind it

Some great duet there. Hetes Emppu talking about the slbum of that tour and mentioning Stargazers:
"The solo in "Shudder" was a nice surprise and something I had great fun doing in the studio. It's also fun live. I'm always ecxcited about parts where there's room for improvisation - "Stargazers" for example, is a great live song that enables you to really shred."
And Floor asked about her musical inf lo uences and her guitar hero:

I play in a band with him: that’s Emppu [Vuorinen, Nightwish guitarist]. He is an amazing guitar player, but he doesn’t need to fill every gap in the song with meaningless notes. He really keeps the atmosphere [of the songs]. What he plays in Sleeping Sun is beautiful."
Edit: you need yo do Burnos Aires 2018, lots of older songs like this, Gethsemane etc. Plus Troy singing a very early song, The Carpenter and also transcribing avwonderful early song, Swanheart, for solo Uilleann Pipes as the introbthat runs into one of the great show-starters, End of All Hope

Great reaction, Jeff! At the Tampere show, Floor mentions that this song has been off the NW setlist for 10 years. It's a great song written for Tarja's style of singing. Floor's operatic take, to me, honors Tarja nicely. Lastly, if you're interested, the Kai drum-cam series filmed in Finland on this tour includes one of this song. Kai is a fun machine to watch! I believe Tuomas was 21 when he wrote this. Nuts! Floor kills this.... and in my opinion her vocals in the Tampere version are even better
Yes he was and he was supposed to study biology in university. Didn't get many study points but wrote Oceanborn album. Rest is history...
Hey Jeff. Yes, as Floor mentioned , it is an older song. From way back on the 1998 2nd album ,Oceanborn. So, it was before Marko too. In the intro to this song at Tampere 2015, she mentioned that it has been off the Nightwish setlist for over 10 years, and they brought it back for this Endless Forms Most Beautiful tour. That is because it was one of the songs that got put away when Anette joined, as operatic vocals aren't her forte. Floor can sing that style easily, and the song fits in with the EFMB album themes of science and reason.

This song was written by a very young Tuomas, but fits exactly the trilogy (the last two albums and the one to come next year) about earth and evolution and us. So Tuomas was already early fascinated by the stars, but it was Troy who gave him a little push in the direction of the 2 D’s (Dawkins and Darwin).
Check the lyrics for some beautiful Tuomas lines like:
Tragedienne of heavens (planet Earth as the biggest tragedy possible is taking place there: evolution)
Watching the eyes of the night (the stars)
Sailing the virgin oceans (speeding through the expanding space)
A Planetride for Mother and Child (Mother Earth and her child the moon)

You should check out the 2011 Buenas Aires version of this song with Tarja's solo band. Best version of this song I've seen. Ridiculous energy from both Tarja and the fans
