So incredible man. 2 years ago this video introduced me to the pct, and for 2 years its all i have been thinking about. Thankyou for introducing this trail to me and so many others. ❤️ - just a 19 year old itching for adventure Hike on brother.

I believe I watched this video about 50-60 times. Nothing but love to you. I am a teacher in Israel and all of my classes have watched this video and we had a discussion about it. Thank you so much
I never comment in videos but this has woken up my soul and wildness. I've always loved the nature and this kind of life, you know, hiking throw sheer mountains, valleys, going across rivers, waterfalls, taking photos, swimming in a clear water lake, seeing animals and feeling the rain in a cloudy day. Isn't a bad day tho lol. Sure there are bad and discouraging things like injuries, hot temperatures, fatigue, hunger... but in the end the most important is the people you go with, and the path. And it's like, fighting against you and your fears. I will live more for those little things that make us feel in contact with the earth's energy and our most deepest souls. We have a beautiful world and we should be grateful for that.
i just did it this year!! class of 2019! took me a while to be prepare to watch this, because i already knew i was going to cry...so much! PCT was so awesome! as a quote i rode on the Canadian border, "for those who had done it, is hard to explain, for those who had not, is impossible to imagine..." can´t wait to do another trhu-hike again! thanks Chopper for the video! it is very inspiring! :) -Pied piper-
There is one single thing I noticed of all the others hikers on the PCT hiking alone. No one really wants to hike alone. I hiked more that 30 days alone on the PCT Class of 2017 and everyone eventually finds other hikers to hike with along the trail. I talked with a number of hikers and most claimed to be hiking solo as I. The true "solo" hiker does not exist. A solo hiker may hike alone in that they do not have bonded rules to hike with anyone, but ALL the PCT hikers join with others and hike Many miles together...eventually. - Camo, Class of 2017
I hiked alone. I never hiked even 5 feet with anyone. The only time I even ever talked to someone were at places of mandatory congregation like Hiker Town. Didn't go to Casa de Luna. Didn't go to Hiker Heaven.
@@marcushoward6560 The purpose is NOT "to get away from people". There is nothing about escape or being anti social in hiking. It's about enjoying nature and if you find others who derive the same enjoyment as you do, they are like minded and easy to get along with. If you feel you have violated some obscure personal rule about getting away from people if joining others for a stretch of the same road, then you've missed the boat entirely.
@@paulhomsy2751 The purpose for me is entirely to get away from people. There are no like minded people to me, and if there were, they would want to hike alone as well. So, how about you go hike your own hike and leave those of us who would rather hike our own hikes, alone.
@@peliam6382 I've hiked with others, it was....less than enjoyable. The best hike I ever had was just me on an old, neglected trail, in the rain, and I didn't see or hear another soul the entire time. My next planned trip will be to another very secluded spot, where I'll set up camp for a week, all by myself. I rarely get a day that I don't have to be at work, out running errands, or at some required social event, so words cannot express how much I look forward to that time to decompress. However, that is me, and I hold to the adage of "hike your own hike", so while I don't really understand the desire for socializing, I don't mock or ridicule those who prefer it.

Best PCT Video I've ever seen! Whats your song list? I never thought I'd be the guy asking that question but you used some good ones I've never herd before.
I'm repeating what others have already said but that was truly one of the most beautiful and visually stunning hiking videos I've ever seen. You've managed to communicate the true essence of what it means to hike the PCT and I'm sure you've inspired many people to follow in your footsteps. I'm already planning on hiking the PCT in April 2019 but you've inspired and excited me even more after watching your journey. I never comment on videos but I had to leave a note of appreciation for this one! Are you hoping to do any more thru-hikes in the future?
Good job adding the highlights of significant events (the bad; long; fun; painful; scary moments of them all), all while making it less than 30 minutes! That adds special interest without bogging down one’s time with unnecessary lengthy parts throughout the whole video. I like this very much.
Ich bin einfach nur sprachlos und kann mich damit nur meinen Vorrednern anschließen! Einfach unbeschreiblich was du geschaft hast und zugleich so gut das Gefühl dahinter im Video dargstellt hast! 👍👍👍
This is my favorite PCT video EVER!! Got me so emotional and motivated!! I extremely excited to start my journey next year! Thank you for making and sharing this video with us!!

I've seen this video more than 10 times, and it still impresses me. So inspirational. Truly outstanding, wonderful places and a storytelling is incredible WELL DONE!
The unknown, the journey, the goal, the unmoveable barriers, the sudden doorways in the wall - all this we encounter while walking. And we walk for all reasons - to move towards, the leave behind, to reach, to do it just because of the lack of an alternative: Yes, walking seems to be the best metaphor for the human endeavor. Because it is pain, because it is liberation, because it entails the entire being, because the sum of the final distance is measured in a metric only known to the one to put his foot in front of the other. Thanks for this reminder to us all.
Peter "Chopper," just wanted to give credit to what I consider a top 5 PCT documentary on a phenomenal experience. Thank you for sharing, and investing the time, energy, and willingness to share this adventure. May we all be motivated by similar explorations of the mind, body, soul, and reflective nature of life of navigating our own trail.
Chopper, your storytelling on the PCT visually, narratively, and musically expresses the profound change through a body acting in betrayal, a mind doubting the pursuit, and finally a soul finding boundless beauty, yes, exquisite beauty that belongs to your life long experience now. Chopper very grateful to your journal
Of all the PCT videos and films I've seen (and that is many!), this is easily amongst the best, if not the best. Short yet wonderfully evocative and moving. Peter, you have a gift. Truly inspirational. Thank you

Peter, this is the best, short video of the PCT (or any trail for that matter) that I've seen! - Great job capturing the essence of the whole (Not SO Beautiful) trail in under 10 minutes!!
Hey Peter, I have watched literally hundreds of hours of thru hike videos and your short 9 minute video is by far my favorite. Just enough dialogue, beautiful scenery. Perfect. Thank you for creating it.
I love this video, the only thing that bums me out was the stuff hanging on the Joshua Trees! A single human touch can kill a Joshua Tree and they take hundreds of years to grow that big!

the fact that you quoted John Muir made this video even better! this is a life changing thing you did, and it is inspiring. Nature can heal us all, especially in these times we live in now with the pandemic.
Hi Michael!

Peter! Wow I Love this story and the colours mate. Well done! I am a photographer myself and would love to know what camera gear you packed (Sony a7?), batteries etc and how your kept everything charged etc!? Love the LUT too - where can I pick that LUT up from?
Hi Michael! Yeah my whole setup included my Sony A7 with two Voigtlaender lenses (21mm and 50mm), two batteries and a fader ND. I charged them with a battery pack from Anker (13000 mAh) and tried to shoot as energy efficient as possible. The LUT is from Lutify with some additional grading in Premiere Pro.
Peter Hochhauser thanks for that buddy, I guess weight would be the biggest issue and film only when it was really important haha. Well done - great story mate.
Lovely video Peter! Made me truly grateful for living so close to the Oregon portion of the PCT. Was curious, how many memory cards did you use to fill up the whole trip? Feels like it's very difficult to record the adventure without a few terabytes of memory on hand. Cheers!
Oh my... I actually almost dropped a tear! (But don't tell anybody...) This was one of the most beautiful videos I've seen about PCT. Truly, this is a masterpiece. It gave me as much or even more that a 1.5 hour documentary...
I've seen many thru hiking videos about pct. and other trails and I've got to say this is one of my favorite, seen this particular video many times every time my hunger for the trail consume me, congrats on finishing it cant wait for my adventure next season...

Ganz ehrlich: Das war nicht nur eines der besten Wander-/Outdoor-Videos das ich gesehen hab, sondern auch eines der schönsten Videos überhaupt! Geniale Aufnahmen, super geschnitten, tolle Landschaften, schöne "Message"...einfach klasse Peter!
Absolutely superb journey Chopper! I've never heard of that trail but what an inspiration to keep going on my wee journeys when watching that... simply cracking! 👍🏼
Hey just wanted to say thank you 🙂 I watched this video for the first time when it came out and now ( March 2024) I am on my plane to California to hike the PCT. You literally changed my life 🧬
I have watched hundreds of trail (CDT, PCT, AT, etc.) and this is by far the best one ever. I do not need another video comparing gear, and finding the lightest bandana. From the video one can see you did not seek out THE lightest/best/cheapest/ whatever gear. Amazing journey, amazing person.
You are right, this is not a "beautiful" hiking video - it is a STUNNING video about life, hiking, soul, and the authenticity of our humanity! The videography is amazing and I enjoyed the whole journey with you. ❤️ New subscriber here, with much respect and appreciation from New Zealand. 😊🏕️🚶🏻♀️🏞️💖
Congratulations Peter - great vid! I did a PCT thru hike back in the early 90's, memories etched in the mind... your video brought them to the fore once again. Good on you!
I'm not sure how I stumbled upon your video, but I'm so glad I did. I've never hiked before, but now I want to! I loved everything about your video. Best wishes to you in the future.
Mate. What an incredible video. My girlfriend and I are planning on doing this in 2020, once we finish university - this video simply added more desire to do this! Congratulations on completing the PCT, and please, I really hope you make more films...you have a talent!

It is. My longest hike yet is 15 miles. I definitely want to do more though.
That is impressive!
Wowvery impressive!!!!🙏🚶♂️🥰💛💚🧡💜💙🙏🔮
It is! Stop comparing your experiences to everyone else's.
Im starting a 30 miles, one day solo hike in a couple of weeks :) Wish me good luck, i doubt that I'll manage to make it
Well done video! I hope to hike it someday soon. I could feel the emotions in your story. Loved it, thank you. I
Did you do it?
the fact that you quoted John Muir made this video even better! this is a life changing thing you did, and it is inspiring. Nature can heal us all, especially in these times we live in now with the pandemic.
0:36 Auf was würdest du beim nächsten Mal packen verzichten, was war am nützlichsten, was hast du vermisst?
Hi Michael!
really good job!!!!
Thanks a lot Felix + Mogli! I followed your trips as well :)
Beautiful, I’ve watched this video 3 times already
Im watching it every single day :-)
Glad you got the opportunity to come explore the beautiful nature our country has to offer! congrats on completing the treck! Its one of my life ambitions for sure!!!
Amazing views, video, hike, people, feeling and accomplishment.
Thanks a lot rockentry! Could you do me a huge favour and send me on another adventure by giving me a vote here: polar.fjallraven.com/contestant/?id=90 ! it just takes a couple of seconds!
i think you're wrong with your titel, it is a beautiful hiking video
thumbs up from austria
Servus. Di kenn i :D
I really like this video! can I ask what effect/filter you used to make the scenes look so good? thanks!
Duncan Thorburn i am asking myself the dame question. The colour is amazing.
Did you use a lut to color grade this? I'm in love with the grading.
Many moments will inspire you, but few will touch your soul. From one adventurer to another, continue the beautiful wanderlust and never settle.
My wife and I just got home from Vienna and we are off to the Sierras tomorrow to do some hiking. You come from a beautiful country and you have made a beautiful documentary about mine. Thank you for that! It is an awesome world that we live in.
Thanks a lot Basstaic! Could you do me a huge favour and send me on another adventure by giving me a vote here: polar.fjallraven.com/contestant/?id=90 ! it just takes a couple of seconds!
Can you specify which particular lenses are they ? Cause I did not find any native lenses for sony e mount in that length.
You can use any of the Voigtlander lenses on Sony so long as you have the adaptor for it: philipbloom.net/blog/voigtlander/
Lovely video Peter! Made me truly grateful for living so close to the Oregon portion of the PCT. Was curious, how many memory cards did you use to fill up the whole trip? Feels like it's very difficult to record the adventure without a few terabytes of memory on hand. Cheers!
Easy walk, would recommend taking a dog to make it more efficient
Come back with some more imaginative adjectives when you've really walked it!
@@bettyspinks5366 🤣🤣🤣👍
Peter! For the love of god I am trying to find out what song you used in this video starting at 4:50, please do share!
Hi Chris, the Song is called 'Call on Me' by Kick Lee.

schön zu hören, danke :)
I've been searching like crazy too! Thanks for asking!
Oh my... I actually almost dropped a tear! (But don't tell anybody...) This was one of the most beautiful videos I've seen about PCT. Truly, this is a masterpiece. It gave me as much or even more that a 1.5 hour documentary...
I've seen many thru hiking videos about pct. and other trails and I've got to say this is one of my favorite, seen this particular video many times every time my hunger for the trail consume me, congrats on finishing it cant wait for my adventure next season...
veteran US hiker here and love your video! It always makes me happy when I see people from around the world enjoying the US and its many great landscapes. Cheers mate.
Totally one of the most inspiring hiking vids I've ever seen. The narration was tremendously inspiring, thank you!!
You literally changed my life 🧬
amazing! enjoy every step of it!!!
Sehr toller Film, inhaltlich und optisch. Vielen Dank für all die Arbeit, die Du Dir gemacht hast. Da kribbelts mir doch glatt in den Waden...
I have watched hundreds of trail (CDT, PCT, AT, etc.) and this is by far the best one ever. I do not need another video comparing gear, and finding the lightest bandana. From the video one can see you did not seek out THE lightest/best/cheapest/ whatever gear. Amazing journey, amazing person.
lightest bandana - made me laugh! thanks a lot, appreciate it!
You are right, this is not a "beautiful" hiking video - it is a STUNNING video about life, hiking, soul, and the authenticity of our humanity!
The videography is amazing and I enjoyed the whole journey with you. ❤️
New subscriber here, with much respect and appreciation from New Zealand. 😊🏕️🚶🏻♀️🏞️💖
Awesome video! Love how you covered your entire journey. Absolutely beautiful! Ty for sharing
Congratulations Peter - great vid! I did a PCT thru hike back in the early 90's, memories etched in the mind... your video brought them to the fore once again. Good on you!
Holy Damn, a hiking video have never given me so much chills before. Congratulations, this was a beautiful hikingvideo
This is one of the most coolest & most inspiring videos I have ever seen. Thanks for sharing!
This is such a beautiful video with inspirational messages throughout. Thank you so much Peter for your words of wisdom and some truly beautiful images.
Great hiking video. Congratulations. Huge accomplishment. thanks for sharing
