  • Interested in living abroad in Spain? This is the video for you. Anna shares her perspective of au pairing in Madrid, Spain. She talks about both sides, the good and the bad of au pairing and tips for living abroad.
    Our channel does not solely focus on Paris/France, despite our name having Paris in it. Paris holds a special place in our hearts as our founders originally met & au paired in Paris. But, we have worked with au pairs all around the world. Check out our other videos of au pairs talking about their experience in other places :)

    I love Madrid! I went there Fall 2018 after graduating college in June 2018 and I stayed in Europe for 3 months - I exhausted my visa 😂 and it was the time of my life. I spent a total of 3 weeks in Madrid and 9 weeks mostly in Paris but also traveled a few days to Milan & Brussels. I would love to Au Pair either in Paris, Madrid and possibly London but I always talk myself out of it because I can't imagine myself in the role of "the help", if you will. I am aware that sounds very egocentric or arrogant but I can't seem to get past the thought that I have a college degree so it almost feels like going backwards in a way, even though I know the experience of living in the country I choose and getting to know the daily life routine, as most locals do, would be an invaluable experience for someone like me whose only passion in life is traveling! Any tips on how to overcome those thoughts?

      I totally understand, being an au pair can be hard 😅 especially with having a college degree. I think for me I always try to remember the many benefits as well, like not having to pay for rent!! It’s nice not to throw away money on that and save for other things, like travel!! My favorite part of being an au pair was the flexibility it gave me to do the things I actually love. And if you find the right family they should make you feel like apart of their family rather than just “the help”. Hope that helps!! ☺️

      I guess that part of what helps is knowing that being an Au Pair is something temporary! You will always have the opportunity to come back home and continue working in your field. Being an Au Pair is not denigrating at all, and I can tell you from experience, it helped me become the woman I am today. - Veronica from APOP

    Ugh aupairing in Spain looks so awesome but I know no Spanish at all 😣 do you think if I did like 3 months of classes online before I would be fine?

    • @aupairohparis6083
      @aupairohparis6083  3 роки тому

      Hannah Sieb depends on how much you’re willing to learn in that time! Also, some agencies require you to pass an evaluation in Spanish (if you do decide to use one) totally depends!

    • @annasheehy5159
      @annasheehy5159 3 роки тому +1

      I barely knew any Spanish when I went, trust me you will be fine and learn a lot when you’re there! x
