- Audio of Jack Kirby interviewed by Andrew Mayer, with Randolph Hoppe in the Kirbys' hotel room at the San Diego Comic Con in 1992.
The interview was the basis for an article for Mondo2000 magazine, which was never published. A transcript was eventually published in TwoMorrows' October 1998 Jack Kirby Collector, and is now available at kirbymuseum.org/blogs/effect/1...
It was not recorded with the intent to publish the audio, just to be the source for a magazine article. We were lucky to meet and talk with him, and lucky that the recording was saved, too.
Kirby will always be The King, now and forever.
Always thankful to hear Jack’s voice. These recordings are absolutely terrific.
Matt Strawbridge I agree. These recordings are priceless
this man's mind was in another dimension than ours. The way he thinks & speaks just comes from a completely different than the average individual does. Thats why he was able to come up with so many great ideas
I guess I'm kinda off topic but does anyone know of a good website to watch newly released tv shows online ?
@Ares Vincent I dunno I use flixportal. You can find it thru google:) -lane
@Lane Chandler Thanks, I went there and it seems like a nice service :D I appreciate it!!
@Ares Vincent no problem =)
Makes you think what Jack would think of today. Or what he would think of.
Jack Kirby would have been perfect as a voice actor
I love these interview videos with the King. To get such insight from him is always a pleasure, as I will unfortunately never have the chance to meet him.
Glad to have this video and look forward to listening. However, the date on the video (14 August 1994) is incorrect and is several months after Jack Kirby's death.
Great information punctuated by an annoying amount of laughter.
Then please accept my gratitude.
These guys sound like the Minions
Did that guy really just say 'Dark Seed'? YOU'RE TALKING TO THE KING, PUNK.
Comics weren't big media back then. People only knew what was on the page. How could readers know how to pronounce characters' names?
@@RetroGameQuest i agree but i dont think the 7 year comment is gonna reply to you.
@@stephenthedude4383 Lol! Opps
@@RetroGameQuest I had no idea if it was Magneeto or Mag-net-o.
...darn...i hoped kirby was an atheist at heart.
It is a wonderful thing to discover that people we love and admire think differently than we do. This realization can then be turned towards empathy and love for people we don't know or admire.
