The Cavs went on a 17-1 run in February when Mobley and Garland were out, forcing them to move the ball more. You failed to mention the largest reason for their regression: JB BICKERSTAFF! Players can't improve when they have a coach who loves 8-man rotations and nothing more throughout the season. JB failed multiple times at in-game adjustments, 4th-quarter adjustments, and benching players when ice-cold. JB's offensive plan was to pick and roll from the top and good luck after that, he had too many hero ball moments with Mitchell. He played Niang in the playoffs who started 0/12 from 3 and can't play defense for his life. He didn't play Sam Merrill when Strus couldn't knock down a 3. However, no moves during the off-season besides resigning players which is a huge deal to lock in the core for the future is a little worry-some. On the other hand, they found a diamond in Kenny Atkinson. Atkinson was the head coach of the tanking Nets with 0 all-stars and took them to the playoffs, and the assistant coach of the Warriors. Atkinson became the assistant coach of France, winning all the way to the gold medal match against the USA. With Atkinson's offensive knowledge and faster tempo, the Cavs should be a tough team to beat next season. #LetEmKnow
Tell me you don't watch the Cavs without telling me you don't watch the Cavs. They had no offensive scheme and now they do with Atkinson. The only player in their prime still has a good 3-5 years left of said prime. It is inevitable that they're gonna improve. With new, better coaching, it will be even better. They were a Donovan Mitchell injury away from controlling the Celtics series. In the big picture, they're an Evan Mobley jumpshot away from being perennially elite. Don't forget Allen. He is an underrated Ann-star skill-wise who is also improving his game. Garland is going to have a breakout year. Atkinson is in love with him. Cavaliers are gonna surprise every casual this season.

its as simple as that. garland and mobley have proven they can win you a lot of regular season games right now, trusting them to keep developing is a smart play. nba fans simply have no patience. a lot of the issues fans have with the guard and big pairings was just JB bickerstaff not being an offensive coach. he didnt know how to utilize all the skill on his team. kenny atkinson will have these boys scoring like crazy and everyone is gonna have their mind blown, but its easy to predict the cavs exploding next season if you watched last year. that 18-2 stretch was off the back of a very specific type of ball JB couldnt keep up. fast pace, off ball motion, volume 3s. made them the best team in the league for almost 3 months, gave them every lead they had on orlando, and helped them keep up wit boston. the playoff struggles hit when the team relied on stagnant pnr instead. its clear JB knew what this team needed to succeed, just wasnt equipped to execute it. now they have a

I disagree about the Strus addition not moving the needle. The biggest issue last season is they had no continuity. You’re trying to implement changes to an offensive scheme, while adding Strus and Niang while experiencing career high games missed by Mobley and DG. Strus defended well, rebounds from the 3 position and can play the 2 or 4 when called upon. If Strus, Dg, and Niang all shot their career average from three I dont think we are having the ‘cavs don’t make sense conversations’
that's the exact reason why i wasn't mad at the clippers for not maxing george and go to second apron you can't go all in and run it back when it doesn't seem to work
Yeah, letting him walk for zero, much better idea🙄 it’s not like they traded every pick they had to okc and now have no way to compete. I’d be floored if I was a clips fan.
Allen, Garland and Mobley were all signed to contracts that make them movable assets. It’s not as if they have a bunch of guys on terrible contacts or a bunch of over the hill dudes. They’re not looking like a championship contender this year. However, with the NBA in recent years you never know how things will pan out. They certainly would have pushed Boston more if they had Allen and if JB wasn’t such a limited coach. I do think Allen or Garland will be moved before the deadline.
From what I’ve seen there haven’t really been any options during the offseason to improve the team. Also I believe the Allen extension was a good move as he will be tradeable next season and locked into a good priced contract in relation to the increasing caps. I think it’s just a less than ideal situation for them right now.
I genuinely don’t know why they’re keeping jarrett allen when you’re actively killing the potential of mobley by doing so, there’s absolutely no reason to keep a solid big when you already have a dpoy level defender on your team that can do everything allen can but better. They need to trade him for an actual wing.
