lol, car collectors amuse me so much. Mods can be changed, most of the desecration was literally vinyl stickers. Having a car sit unused in a bubble outside of a museum setting is a bigger desecration in my opinion.

It's not the like the car was hacked up for a wide body kit. Painted leather is far different from steel. If you think paint is difficult then you clearly have never restored a car in your life. Replacing rotted trunks and floor pans is hard. Removing a wrap is not. If the guy was that worried about the car he wouldn't have sold it at a massive profit for 200k. Then he gets to make money off the story.

Coming back after Erik passed away. Huge loss to the car community, most specifically hitting at home for us BMW enthusiasts. Was looking forward to meeting him December 2021 while visiting some family in Ohio.
The lesson here is when you sell something to anyone its not yours anymore. It doesnt matter what they say they will do with it, its not yours its gone.
As a Hot Wheels collector I got triggered when he called it a "Matchbox car".

As a car enthusiast I would like to say two things, first of all if he did rice out the car, it was his car, if you felt sad that's completely fine but making a whole ass video bitching about it??? That’s why I’ll never sell mine. You can still get good deals on automatics. If I wanted one now I’d buy an automatic and do a manual swap on it and you can have a clean e30 5 speed for 5k

@@datsoon9236 You got a great deal. Paid $4,200 for my 325i convertible in 2018. Alpinewhite, original paint, very clean but it needed a new top, suspension, and interior. I also manual swapped it... but to me it was worth it cuz I drive it every day.

For anyone wondering, it was wrapped that is not a custom paint job. Also from what I could find the only mods done were the rally fogs and the gold rims. So yeah pretty lax for "desecration".
They also added a little ducktail to the rear spoiler.
Incorrect. It was painted. All of the writing / graphics on the car were also painted. The work was done by West Coast Customs. They also threw out probably one of the lowest mileage cardinal red E30 M3 interiors in existence in exchange for a custom upholstered interior.

Also I don't think they took out the interior at all. If you watch the video or look up shots of the car you can still see the red interior. But I will admen they did modify the spolier slightly.

Honestly one of my least favorite interviews on VW, I've been to Enthusiast auto, a very cool dealership, but how can you complain about what someone does to a car after YOU SOLD it to them. At least the car is getting attention and has been modified to what the owner wants. It was one of a kind before and it's one of a kind now. All I hear is whining about a car being used like it should be and not sitting in a garage for 20 more years.

When I was in high school/ college I worked at a tennis shop, Midwest sports supply,in sharonville, Ohio right around the corner from where a tiny little boutique bmw shop opened up. Really cool to see how much they’ve grown.

Problem with your argument is that people like the guy in the video believe that you could get any car back to dream spec. At the same time... even if I hate rap, it's his money. He can do what he wants to anything he bought legally. That's how it is.
I dont think the purists are upset that he did this specifically, more so that he chose that exact car to do it to. If he had restored a beat or tracked e30 i doubt it wouldve been scoffed at, but he took roughly one of the best examples and modified it to create what couldve been done with a less special car.

They see it as taking care of and preserving a piece of history. I don't even like BMWs that much but as somebody who is very into cars, it's unfortunate from my perspective that Scott didn't just drill into an E30 that wasn't fully original.

Solid point, I think it’s more disappointment than anger. You are correct, he sold the car and no longer had control over what happened to it. I think where the disappointment comes from is knowing that a pristine relic of history that he sold to a gentleman that wanted to continue maintaining the pristine quality of it then sold it to a rapper who didn’t give a single shit about what that car was or what history it had. To this persons community it was essentially selling the Mona Lisa to someone who then sold it to someone who wanted to draw a mustache over it.

As an e30 m3 fanboy, i absolutely love what travis did to the car even it if was a ‘museum spec’ it was tasteful mods (not like what kanye did with his urus) and it was auctioned for charity for about 400.000$ (unsure sources) so a win for everybody except the gatekeepers

So... this car sat in a garage as a display piece, being used as literally a reference tool and he's upset that someone took the car and used it the way they wanted to? This car was sitting in a garage doing nothing but get looked at. Cars are meant to be driven. He can't get mad about the outcome of this vehicle when he SOLD IT. If he wanted to "enjoy it" by letting it sit untouched in a garage then it should have stayed there.
I mean, car doesn't look bad, I dig it, good thing he didn't wide body it cutting and drilling holes on the wheel wells. But knowing the backstory of the car does kinda make it sad. hopefully they used vinyl wrap so the paint its intact, and the light bar is not mounted hurting other components of the front end.
