I do not care if his records will be broken, or whether other players can legitimately claim to be the GOAT: Federer is the only player I could watch forever without feeling bored a single second.
In this video is far from being perfect and at times you can see Roger's dissatisfaction with himself. But, as I said above, Roger Federer is the only player I could watch forever without feeling bored a single second...such is the grace and elegance of his movement
@@bennettrussell8249 No it's definitely because of the lack of a dampener. Most players use one, while Roger doesn't, which is why you hear that "pop" all the time when Roger is swinging.
I can't stand that sound for one minute when playing. Don't know how he does it. If my dampener flies out of racquet everything stops till it's found and put back in place.
I have seen him Volley with a double handed backhand. I think mainly cause guys hit much harder now and honestly I don't think he is as strong upper body wise like let's say Boris Becker. But Apples and Oranges here. Different eras.
there are quite a few of his practise video showing him hit 2 handers. there are some videos of 2 handers hitting 1 handed. tsonga did in a match vs roger at wimbledon, for a winner. i think it was 2013, maybe 2011.
Rewatched this thousands of times. Very satisfying to watch. I used to think there was no such thing as perfection, but when I see Federer’s stroke… I only think the thoughts “It just looks perfect”
@John Wick Uhhh, because people can be fans of whomever they want? And why do you assume that just because he's a fan of Nadal that he isn't a fan of Roger?
Maybe this man is not the strongest player currently, But he has been the #1 most efficient player ever since his debut..and that's like 20 years ago! It's so amazing that there's almost 0 unnecessary movement in his play, and i bet no else tennis player would EVER play more efficient and fluent than Federer.
in 2016 me and my brother went to Madrid to the Masters 1000 tournament. We had ground access and we saw Berdych playing in the Arancha Sanchez court. My brother had a RF hat and after the match he trew him the hat and he signed it, laughing. This video brought me back that good memory!
The quality of his forehand is obvious based on his record :), but seeing (and hearing) it from this angle during a simple practice session is still astonishing.
Every single Federer shot has that beautuful, light brushing sound of topspin, even short hops, etc. Can hear a marked difference in his partners shots, who is REALLY good too, but a little bit of that flat sound. Amazing.
@@danyeun01 He has said several times that he thinks the two-handed backhand is better for modern play, he said it's easier to hit. That could help him
if some guy from another planet came to earth and watched guys practicing at a tournament, they couldn't tell number 1 from number 100 just from watching strokes. it's the subtle differences in character, competitiveness, passion, focus that make the difference in matches.
The player closer to the camera, in the green-blue shirt, has beautiful strokes. Especially the forehand. If he keeps practicing his technique like this on a consistent basis, I think he will be able to do pretty well against some of the top-ranked players on the Tour. Keep it up, fella, and good luck!
Federer playstyle is the best one yet. Its beautiful to see him playing, everything looks insanely easy...sorry but when i see djokovic i get bored at the very first minutes.
Okay, so I'm not exactly an expert (and my one-hander's actually got an unusual motion so there's that), but here's my guess. Racket up I would assume is more control-oriented. When I tried it, the racket felt tighter on the swing-through, and I can imagine like this you prioritize placement of the ball. Federer and Tsitsipas are generally more control over power on their backhands. Racket out to the right I would assume is related to power. When you finish like that, it feels like the racket swings out farther and harder; Wawrinka's known to be a power player and he finishes sorta like that.
Zidane of tennis. Innate coordination and elegance, every step is the most efficient to reach the ball, there's no fatigue at all in his eyes, it's natural for him, he barely show emotions till the end of the match.
only as recently as three years ago, federer was not hitting his backhand as well as he is now am sure. i now see a definite improvement in his net game including the approach shot in less than one year. as a devoted fan, should i be impressed with the degree of domination roger must have had with the other two shots, serve and forehand enough not needing to work on those areas of his game that has shown obvious recent improvements? or regret that we didn’t get to witness the complete federer that he is now in his prime? to be honest, his image of being a tiebreak guy who had great serve and forehand still haunts me. i wanted to see him work on his game seriously a lot sooner like when he was a junior player. or am i wrong to think this? sorry, no disrespect to the guy. just that his recent improvements seem so huge and sad that it didn’t happen a long time ago. ok i said that. that’s how i feel. sorry, roger.

Exactly. Tennis in its purest form.
Man On Jupiter 2 I agree 100% .
Exactly plus doesn’t have to talk to his coach after every single point, fist pump after every point and make stupid noises.
if one day someone ask you, is there anything in the world that is completely perfect? you show this person this video.
I would say if any one asks who lived freedom completely in this world I will tell one and only The Roger Federer. I see Freedom in his Tennis 🎾.

@@justim7559we aren't discussing religions
True
The sound of his racquet is like the pop when opening a bottle of wine. So sweet.
It's because he doesn't use a string dampener :-)
Al Wallace or maybe because he’s hitting in perfectly every time 🤦🏼♂️
@@bennettrussell8249 No it's definitely because of the lack of a dampener. Most players use one, while Roger doesn't, which is why you hear that "pop" all the time when Roger is swinging.

The two handed Roger backhand exists lol at 2:41. I’ve never seen him remotely ever do that and it’s still perfection.
Extremely rare and he hit it perfectly

Such smooth strokes. He makes it look so easy and effortless.
