fursuit = more silly
Absolutely!
furcons are definetely some of the silliest pllaces on earth
@@FinnThePanther I love your videos your the one who wanted me to become a furry!!!!
@@AeroFoxxoagreed ( I totally haven’t came to a furcon… YET. )
Can confirm :33
The bit about tripping on your feet was too real, I swear 90% of my first con was not realising how big my feetpaws were and stumbling over the convention hall.
Almost made a fool of myself tripping down stairs during my first time suiting! It happens to the best of us
They don't need to be that big, it looks stupid tbh. Same with hands
Same here haha!
First time I tried on a fursuit, it was a digitigrade fursuit. I had to walk so widely xD
It felt quite weird. But now I own a plantigrade fursuit which is a bit easier to walk in. But still. It has big feetpaws so I have to walk a bit widely :p
Don’t get me started on stairs
A fursuit is basically a puppet that you can wear. Just like puppetry, Fursuiting requires practice to be a good performer and to keep the illusion :3.
That's a really good way to put it!
Mines design (once I finish the hand paws) will have animatronics because the paws are like massive gauntlets and my hands are pretty small! It will quite literally be stringed like a string puppet
I actually made a character based on some colors of my puppets so I thought of the same for some time, very cool concept!! (Also love the pfp!)
This is so cool hearing that you have a secondary screen to the side of your camera, I do that too lmao!
You do a lot better at not talking like you have notes/script than I do though 😅
Lmao That means lick me all over
BTW, great videos dude! Professional, straight, to the point, and out. No BS! That is the way they should be. Congrats!
Appreciate it! 💛
Everytime I put on my suit, I always have to pay attention at my tail. I have a super motion tail that sticks out, so when I turn, I always have to be careful it doesn't bump agains objects or people.
For the same reason, I’ll probably struggle with that at my first convention (anthrocon) especially because the end of my tail is thick
One thing I've learned is that it's far easier to stick a straw through your fursuit mouth into your actual mouth and move that down to drink from a can or a glass or something, instead of putting the straw in the drink first like you normally would.
That's actually a fantastic tip!
Butterfly style!
I did that mistake at NFC.
And you should've seen how much I struggeled to get that straw in my mouth cause I also didn't wanna spill at the same time xD
Thanks for the tip!
Becoming one with your fursuit. I love it. How zen.
Kinda anime to ngl
figured out the eyes thing first-hand last Halloween - not fortunate enough to own a suit, but i had a mask i made that was decently fursuit-adjacent. i got dizzy and disoriented when i tried seeing through the eyes normally, and often found myself looking out of one eye or the other. it had the fringe benefit of helping me perform, at least; after a while i started leaning into it, making jerky movements with my head, neck and body when looking around ^^'
About looking through your head part, that's why my fursuit heads are always sideways when taking pictures! I've been trying to improve it by looking straight but it didn't work out. Thank you so much for the advice!
feetpaw bit is so real- i nearly wiped out the first time i tried going down the stairs in my paws. eventually i managed to figure out a way to angle my feet sideways so i could have more of my actual foot on the stairs, but it's still a lil spike of adrenaline every time i go down-
Regarding the hand-waving, while it's not the same as wearing an actual suit, when VR in some avatars with sizable paws, I find myself doing that exaggerated wave as well, and for the same reason. It's really hard to notice due to the fact that the paws are quite large relative to your hand size.
Imagine having a protogen made out of steel, you're basically driving a mech around. You'll become gigachad tier of muscular to wave hello and move in that xD even better for cardio
It’s not quite at that level or as technological advanced as your thinking but mine will have massive animatronic pla gauntlet paws
7:17 As a cheetah myself with hand sewn spots, stretching the suit is something I'm trying my very best to prevent as well. There are moments where seams might pop, and your maker lives quite far away where you need to learn basic sewing. It has come very handy twice for me now as I've had my suit now for 2 weeks. So just be aware, if you wanna have a fursuit with a lot of hand sewn markings, spots, stripes or so, be aware. Do not stretch often and be aware that you might have to sew some stitches yourself here, now and then.
(7:45 It's also more healthier for your back to squat down to pick up stuff 😉)
I've seen a lot of your short form content but never a full length video before, but I think this was very informative. It's been a goal of mine to get a fursuit since I joined the fandom almost 2 years ago now and I've never really stopped to consider the fact that it's basically a set of armor, in the sense that it limits your movement and forces you to adapt. Thank you for teaching me this! I'll watch your video about introverts next, since I think there's a lot for me to learn there aswell
Eyelids are also tricky as far as seeing with a suit head. It creates fun emotions like sleepy or angry, but it makes the vision even more skewed vs having full eyesight.
A fursuit is like a lightsaber. The more you use it,the more it becomes an extension of you
Great video. I had wondered how wearing a fursuit would be like, and this is a great example of it. Now, I want to have my own fursuit madly. 😊
All of this is too real as another commenter said. the sitting thing omg, its like I know how to sit ahh. lol. These among many other reasons is why I did a lot of "homework" before I get even just a fursuit head.
8:30 One thing I would like to add about sitting in fursuit, is that sitting can mat the fur over time which looks pretty ugly. One hack I have to mitigate the issue is to discreetly “swipe” my paws down the area of the body where I sit, going with the grain of the fur pile. I also avoid scooting around where I sit, since that will definitely mat the fur pile. Keeping this in mind has really helped me keep a nice looking fursuit body on my numerous critters!
I'm a New Furry and tried on a Friend's Full Fursuit and it is definitely different than walking normal , sitting , standing up from a sitting position and it's definitely almost like being in a Sauna but it's also amazing, I was only going to go with a Partial but after trying on her Full Fursuit I'm definitely going that direction , I felt like I would be more confident and comfortable being fully covered with my Fursuit can't describe it and I felt really secure it was an amazing experience. Definitely stay hydrated and drink plenty of water while in a Full suit and be the adorable person you genuinely are .
My full suit is coming soon, it's my first fullsuit and this really is going to help thank you!!!!!!
Lovely advise for someone who will get his first fursuit later this year :3 Love your vids, they handle the more "unasked" questions from the fandom (you know, like when in school, but didn't want to raise your hand, afraid of sounding silly) and I'm glad I found the channel
Great video. A ton of info. Thanks for making me aware of what I'm getting into. Keep up the awesome job
your OC really adorable and you take your time to explain how fursuit works. Gonna take alot of saving year for me to actually have a fursuit
Ooo things to think about as I wait for my suit!
I've had this happen a few times now where my vision adapts fully to the view I have out of the head, but then I take it off and need a few minutes before I move around..... it's so disorienting!
Your spot on with that. I have a full mascot of Denver The Last Dinosaur, that costume really had me learning things from simple things like walking to sitting in it. I looked out of the neck on that and not the head, used to spin people out. Does take time to get used to and yes I noticed I did different and more things than I would do without it.
Fursuiting = fashion✨✨💅
Good points. Before spending time suiting, I did NOT anticipate any of these (particularly the fact that, normally suiting, I can't see directly in front of me!)
Love bringing silly anthro animals to life. So cool and lively!!!
I got to be a part of fursuiting 101 at my first con and it made me so happy to perform and show people how to be silly and exaggerated in suit 😊 and about safety and low vision
I enjoyed this, especially since I think I'm going to need to watch it again in the future!😄
Another wonderful, informative vid from our favorite purple panther!
3:41 what's cool about this is animals in real life turn their head like this to see better that's why they tilt their heads when they're confused
Hi Finn. I was on EF 27 too and forget to ask you for a Selfie, give you a Hug and a Boop sadly. Hopely we can do this at EF28.
PS: It was very cute to see you wiggle with your Tail. ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Maybe next time!
@@FinnThePanther That would be wonderfull. *Boop*
That's actually really cool to learn! i always heard "oh yeah, you just gotta perform in your suit", and didn't elaborate much other than exaggerated movements. This actually does make me more excited to one day own a fursuit!
i really get exited when u post a new video! love ur content! ceep up the gr8 work!
Is that NFC i see on the background on your pfp? Looks very familliar hehe!
Amazing suit btw!
I fully understand you on those points. I once tried on a good friend's Fursuit, and oh boy, that experience was wild! 😅 But I quickly got the hang of how I had to ”move differently“ But yeah, I can hardly wait to soon experience it in my own first Fursuit :D✨
I discovered your channel today and already love your videos
Hey Finn thanks for this useful information on how Fursuits actually works and what signs to look out for seriously thanks
Fin the panther im still following your podcast on Spotify we need new episodes please
5:46 For some reason, I'm the only person who builds outdoor paws _for the outdoors,_ and I've never seen it replicated. All you do is wrap the fur over the edge of the foam layer, and glue another foam layer on top. I've got white paws and they don't get that nasty ring of muck around the bottom.
I have gotten so used to the feetpaws and wearing my suit as a full suit that I have trouble walking while partialling because my idiot feet try to do the fursuit waddle and I trip SO EASILY. It's wild what I you see after having and wearing a fursuit for while.
When u mentioned vision this is why I got myself a kemono fursuit because of the flat face! And due to the fact that I'm legally blind (I can still see though) i cannot see without my glasses so I be wearing mine inside my suit aswell 💀 that being said its only a little advantage for me because i still have limited vision like everyone else in suit of course.
I haven’t finished the rest of my suit yet but the tail I made can move a lot with minimal body movement without robotics! I think it has to do with the shape physics wise. The end has much more thickness than the base
cool, i really realized the Valve Index controllers in the background
I've started playing VRChat regularly as an anthro-cat and I'm already doing things in the real world that I've picked up on in the digital space. And that's without real world fur!
I think the vacuum and pet-specific vacuum makers would make billions if ever anthropomorphic animals became real. :P Even with fursuiters, I imagine cons spend ALOT on cleaning up shedding.
the second and third one I noticed pretty quickly, I was makeing a full sute for Halloween but only got to finish the head and feet, I didn't find stairs that much of a problem though I did scrap the front of them on the steps.
People have no idea how it's hard to be in the skin of a felin. Now you have to learn how to walk like them.
I don't know how I land into this video, but I have to say that is was interesting, even if I don't plan to morph into a felin or anything else... Your choice of skin is really good, I like it a lot.
The way my suit head is, its a demogorgon so there have to be no obvious eyes, the eyes are covered with thin translucent black fabric, so the visibility is fairly blurry and dark. It's ok for seeing my general surroundings, but when I wanna get a close look at something, I can tilt the head up and look out the mouth. Very narrow and uncomfy for my neck, but what vision I do get it mostly unobstructed, while the eyeholes have a fairly wide field of view but are somewhat obscured
It's been easier for me to exaggerate myself in suit because I have autism and ADHD so I'm used to being extra with my movement cuz of my stims. Suiting helps me get my extra energy out too!
2:50 😅 I expected the smaller vision but didn’t think about the nose / muzzle much.
I’m blind in my right eye and have been since birth. But, I personally don’t feel it makes me much different than anyone else, drive just fine, play sports just fine.
But seems like a fursuit head would be a massively affected by that.
Wow randomly landed here... Fantastic fur suit, great tips.
I absolutely can relate to the idea of becoming one with your fursuit. When I wear my suit, I don't really even feel like I'm acting or performing, it's more like just relaxing and letting the spirit of the suit take the wheel while my own everyday personality slips into the back seat and enjoys the ride as a passenger.
I've admittedly had a few moments too when I've been at work or some other very non-furry space, and my fursuit personality would suddenly come out. 😆
You have helped me so much to prepare myself to become a fursuiter one day, once i got the money and an oc ofc. You have probably mentioned this before but who is your fursuit maker and do they have a website or anything like that? Also where did you get the inspiration for your fursona? Im tryna find my own inspiration but i got nothing good so far
That's some great insight, and it occurs to me that maybe suiting for the first time _at_ a con isn't the best idea.
Bro nice wolf picture on the side
I can relate to a lot of this as well, having to re-learn how to walk with feetpaws especially, lol! Once you get accustomed to your suit, and what it can do, you can really have some fun expressing yourself^^
Just watched like 30 of ur vids (shorts) while making my firt fursuit prop (bone)!!!!!
My fursuit is a ball python. He has a massive snout, but very large eyes, so I’m pretty much always looking sideways. If I suit wearing his head for a while, my vision gets really weird when I take off the head. Almost feels like eye strain.
Oh wow I think I remember you from a furry podcast I used to listen to
Hm, I never personally made a suit so tight that the back seam would have issues later on, or its just the patterns I use differ quite a lot, a lot of extra give allows the back movements and shoulder movements.
I actually think this might be very good for my mental health as I struggle with confidence
It's very odd... Considering that I have a naturally different walking gait all due to the curvature of my spine forcing me to basically walk "strangely or weird" ad other people say when I'm walking normally, and this THIS thing has weirdly actually allows me to walk easier in large fursuit feet paws due to my normal walking gait. I've never had to learn how to walk in my fursuit feet paws as a result just only be a little more aware of them bumping into things more than myself and I've never... Stepped on my own feet wearing them on top of this. It's odd. In fact, if I try to walk more "normally" like most people, it ACTUALLY physically is uncomfortable and can be painful at times and risks me to roll my ankles more as a result if I try!
The whole thing about your fursuit being an extension of yourself is so real
Pretty understandable, you have to wash it and it has a lot of weight, thank you for explaining with every detail
My koraidon has super wide feet. I trip over them all the time, I'm only used to the extra foot length
I'm a snowshoe hiker so, #3 wouldn't be much of a thing for me. I'd love to be able to afford to be bothered by the other four, though 😀
Oooh man, you nothing know about my not yet complete suit... Its already hell... I feel im gonna get mecha-locked in it one day... so many feautures using mechanisms.
"Fursuits are expensive" The Maetba Model 6 Unica (Costs like, millions for one in the US): Call that expensive?
amazing video thank you very much
Lol someone the ways of moving I already do and I don't even own a fursuit (yet hopefully)
I can only imagine what anyone with such suits have to adjust in order to perform. Like Disney for example and all those characters. What training and lengths they have to go through to get through the day. I don't think they get enough credit for it.
I dunno about typical fursuits, but I have adapted so well to my suit that I can look past the nose on my suit and see straight on. I handle for my friends while wearing my suit. And it's really well ventilated so public suiting isn't too hard, even in heat.
I need to say this. If your fursuit has big ears, or a big tail, be extra aware of your surroundings. Your friends will only tolerate getting his by foam slabs so many times lol
Also, doorframes.
Yeah my feet paws are like trying to walk with a pair of swim fins on lol.
Ok i need one!!
You are, so very right.😸
if your landlord asks about the fur just say "i run this youtube channel to pay your bills"
should work
trust me bro c:
i have a full digi grade i feel this. i waddle like a penguin when. full suit i dont do any stairs even small ones unless i have a handler cause im blind as a bat also spitting out fur is a mood cause i wear a camelback in suit spitting so much when. i drink out of it ha ha
my feet paws are like, three times the size of my feet.and yes, I did allover and rip my suit, but I managed to sew it back together
edit: fall over, not all over
Fun thing on the vision: I'm blind from birth in my right eye, so my vision is even more shit. LOL. D:
But at least my resin heads have hollow noses, so I can see through that thankfully.
It's interesting how naturally the human mind processes changing its functions so it can wear a different body!
I don’t have a fur suit myself, but I do use one at work. I work at Chuck E Cheese and I sometimes get to dress up as Chuck the Mouse himself, and that’s the closest I’ll probably get to wearing a full fur suit lol
Hey! I think your suit is really cool and i really like it, i think you seem quite trustworthy and I was wondering if you had any advice for me, im a 12 year old furry, soon to be 13, and im anxious about my future, i obviously want a
fursuit, at this age, since females grow less than males, i think a partial would be safe, but my issue, is my family does NOT like the idea of a fursuit at all, in fact,
they really dont like me even mentioning getting one in the future when im a adult! What do i do? If i want a job, what will my boss think of me fursuiting at home? And then lastly, im unsure of how to afford going to conventions, and how to pay for my fursuit when i want it,
what if my parents dont even want me in their house because id be wearing a fursuit?
This dudes cool
The most difficult having a fursuit is the sightsee inside fursuit have limited seen also need a handler to give u code if someone want to take pict with u And hug that ok keep up you did great
Fursuiting for the first times here a partial one. I'm having troubles walking because I need something in the feet paws, they get loose, people suggested to glue some old shoes to keep it tight. Good idea there?
My maker said that over time, gluing some shoes in the feetpaws, the glue won't hold that good over time, so the shoes could loosen up in the feetpaws. Just so you're aware. :)
Even with the strongest glue. It's because there's always mivement which can make the glue loosen up a bit.
@@InkosiCheetahThanks for the answer, I have some old shoes that got in perfectly and seems they're fine, will try some day walking more time with them. Thanks for the suggestion!
6:22 how about the black ones? i have a black fox fursona so if i got a suit im ded
Wait, what? The owner is allowed to inspect your Rented Apartment? ... Wow ... Thats fucked up
It's a Law, There is a certain thing they have to do in order to Inspect the apartment, there's three things, 1 If you're being suspected of a crime, 2 They should give a few days notice till they inspect the apartment, 3 If you're suspected of breaking the Apartment rules
Ive been bamboozled!
2hours ago !
Good to know. 🙂
finally an answer to my life long question: does one just put full body suit on in house for normal life either the whole suit or just the body as a onesie😂
Whoa, another Panther, although we're different types
I can attest to all of this.
Question, how long do you usually wear your suit a day?
If I'm at a con, maybe 5-7 hours. But otherwise it's just for videos and if people come over to snuggle in suit!
2:18 GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT
if i tryed to go up stairs in tos paws i would be leving i an ambulance
