      Thanks! After playing it for 2 years I can say that in general the portative organ satisfies me very much with the way it sounds: good timbre and good volume. I would definitely improve the playability (very large and heavy bellows - good on one side but a little difficult to play) and the portability of the instrument by making it lighter and smaller.

    Amazing videos. Very inspiring. any chance you have some technical drawings available, I'm mainly interested in the soundboard and windchest. I've researched many sites, and publications such as "How to build a Portativa Oragan by David Swan". but the drawings are terrible and I think its mostly theory.

    congratulazioni maestro, sto progettando il mio organetto di 32 note. e costruire un positivo su cinque registri. il positivo un progetto di John Boersma. Qui in Brasile ho avuto il privilegio di lavorare con il maestro organaro Georg Jann, da lui ho imparato molto. E il tuo lavoro mi ha dato la forza per disegnare il mio organetto. Lavoro meraviglioso! Complimenti vivissimi!! I video tutorial sono fatti benissimo. Una grande risorsa per gli amanti dell’organaria. Vorrei riuscire a capire di più i “misteri” del l’intonazione delle canne. In particolare su dove agire per modificare e correggere il suono. Sulle canne di legno penso sia un’operazione delicatissima perché è difficile tornare indietro se si fanno degli errori. Ad esempio a parità di altezza di bocca e di pressione che effetti ha la direzione della lama d’aria (più verso l’interno o verso l’esterno) ? In un video ne parli ma ho capito, per mia scarsa preparazione, poco. Poi la forma del labbro superiore più o meno tagliente come influisce sull’attacco? E come rendere il transitorio d’attacco meno rude?
    Sarebbe bello un tuo video per spiegare più dettagliatamente l’intonazione. Sei un didatta eccezionale! Grazie !

    • @nippocast
      @nippocast  3 роки тому

    Incredible. Can a pallet box like your portative organ be used for a larger scale instrument? That is, adding sliders and perhaps holes for two different timbres on the windchest? Two stops, basically.

    • @nippocast
      @nippocast  3 роки тому

      sure, but if you use bigger registers, for example 4' or 8' you have to resize the channels

    • @ethanzuo586
      @ethanzuo586 3 роки тому +2

      @@nippocast Oh, I see. Does 8' need twice as much air as 4'? Or are the larger channels just for the larger toes of the pipes?

    • @nippocast

    • @ethanzuo586
      @ethanzuo586 3 роки тому +1

      @@nippocast Thank you! But the pallets can be the same size, right? Because the first organ with multiple stops that you built seems to have the same size pallets and channels for the 2 foot and 4 foot. I could probably just do a separate windchest for the 8 foot, right? (I just plan to have 3 stops)

    • @nippocast
      @nippocast  3 роки тому

      @@ethanzuo586 No, they are slightly different, more larger for the lower notes. I only have one windchest for all 3 stops, 8'-4' and 2'. the slot under the pallets must be large enough to feed all three stops, indicatively, for a small three stops organ, it starts from 16mm in width for the lowest notes and scales up to 8mm for the highest notes, and at least 60mm in length. The other windchest that you saw is for the pedalboard.

    • @nippocast

      @@dlwangxiaohu because they sound louder, they have more harmonics, they have a unique airy timbre, and yes, they are also more difficult to make them sound good.
