    We used to be rockhounds, until health kept us from doing so. It was so much fun, my husband, myself and two grandaughters. One of which is still a rockhound. I enjoy your videos, but they make me sad that I can no longer go out. If I had any Tepee Canyon, Fairburn, or even prairie agates I would so send them to you for cutting. Thank you for your videos.

    I live near the Dugway geode (thunderegg) beds here in utah, and one thing I will say is that it is UNREAL how often these thundereggs are bangers. Not even kidding. If you get a batch, the overwhelming majority are incredible, and they polish up so well; even the rhyolite does, and often the pattern of the rhyolite looks like wood grain or something; it's so sweet. And I'm not really a geode guy, I hunt mostly agates here, but really, how could you not love them. Great video! I'm gonna say that's pyrite, btw. And the black crystal is probably either tourmaline or hematite. And Jude says hi. See ya!

    • @khills
      @khills 16 днів тому +1

      Agree re pyrite; it’s just too brassy and not yellowy enough for gold.

    Such an incredible variety of geodes on this cut. I am partial to the dugway geodes, mainly because it is just a day trip from my home to get out there. Now that the weather has cooled down I think it is time to plan an outing. They are so cool cut, and the broken pieces are amazing tumbled.

    15:17 geode is so unique, and the amethyst geode is beautiful. I think that first mexican geode is pyrite. However, even more than my love of agates, is my love of opals. I collect raw opals, polished, faceted, loose, jewelry lol anyway they come, so I love those opal thundereggs. I have a geode with pink opal and smoky quartz that I split open myself. Just amazing :)

    Fools gold is still gold! I find it amazing that it precipitated out in a geode though. I'd think that it would be rare. And the fact that the chalcedony is blue and not red from the pyrite is even more confusing????

    One of my huge regrets in life is the fact that I lived on dugway proving grounds in Utah, for 7 years and I never went rockhounding. I really wish I had gone to the geode grounds. I would love to! Maybe someday. Other than that I did not really enjoy being in that area of Utah. The rest of the state is quite beautiful.
