I was just about to reply when UA-cam thought they could respond better. I almost clicked OK before I realized the reply was only a suggestion. A.I. is pretty scary... Yes, in this instance I left the load on the generator before shutdown. The generator was really hunting/surging and I wanted to shut down the engine quickly before something worse happened. The load bank is surplus stuff and the generator is probably 30 years old so I wasn't too worried about hurting something. I originally had the air filter on the system but when it started hunting it was very difficult to get to the governor, idle and run adjustments with it on. Once I get close on the run adjustment I will put everything back on. Normally I idle my machines before turning off and disconnect any load (electrical or mechanical).
I was wondering if the loads are still being applied before shutdown.. and I would find a breather for the carburetor before you start adjusting..
