Oh my goodness Teddie’s Japanese performance is unbearable. Like holy shit
You're taking this too fur
@@CIELLOR lol I legit didn’t even realize the unBEARable
I thought it that way xd. Now my pun is ruined xd
Que va a saber un gringo sobre actuación de voz, si sus doblajes son una mierda todos
Rise is awful too
Yukiko attacks the king with agi and heals him, the king: thanks for the health now eat this Rampage.
He baits you with that red wall, and it just pisses me off even more
And that's how my first playthrough of persona four started with a 6 hour grind to kill him specifically
Funny thing with this boss, when I used lower hit debuff on him and used yosuke to constantly raise everyone's evasion he only used rampage once the entire fight . Phys resist persona is also pretty helpful
Absolutely true.
@@CIELLORby this battle I alr had Yoshitsune
My boy slime won this fight easily
Of course he’s not balanced, how’s he supposed to kill everyone equally?
That's why i hate this boss
Rampage Goes brr
Bonus points if you're debuffing his attack. And you know exactly when the debuff is gonna wear off. And right when it does is when he decides to use Rampage.
That happened to me. Somehow I survived (or at least the mc did).
Thanks for that information, I appreciate it
rampage go brr
I spent 10 hours roaming and fighting at yukiko’s castle lmao
Faced him at level 60ish and it still took me like 4 turns😭
Yeah, it's pretty hard. Funny thing is that the rest of optional bosses are not as hard as this one, actually they are a joke.
@@CIELLOR mitsuo's optional boss was a bit of a chore: massive health pool, guard, heal, attack, repeat, well same thing can be said about everyone but with that in particular
@@alessandrop6511 I remember that I reached level 54 after defeating mitsuo. Escapist soldier (the boss you're talking about) is not as hard as contrarian king. Think about it, contrarian doesn't have any weakness, but escapist soldier does. He's weak to Ice and wind and by that moment, teddy, chie and yosuke have access to great skills. Teddy is actually the GOAT 'cause he is a multi-target buffer/debuffer for the party.
This is only my opinion, but I agree that all optional bosses has something that makes them ridiculously hard asf
@@CIELLOR didn't mean to say he was harder, i was talking taking the rest of them without the king, battle was artificially long and tiring af
Yeah, all of them are hard in some way.
This fight makes me want to quit this game. I've grinded to level 25, it's only May 1st, how much grinding am I going to have to do?
If you're playing golden then he's no longer weak to ice and actually he drains fire and nulls damage from wind. Not so many players decide to face him in a normal run due to the lack of strong personas by that momento. Although, if you decide to battle him, what I can recommend would be: you face him in ng+ , just change the difficulty to easy/very easy or use tarukaja on party members, use sukunda as much as u can on contrarian king to lower his accuracy so he can fail and slip so you'll be able to all out attack. Focus on healing with yukiko but also, use party members to attack either normally or with a skill (like skullcracker or whatever u have)
If this was usefull, please support my channel by suscribing thanks for warching!
@@CIELLOR
I beat him!! I fused a Jack Frost, then used bufula to do about 350 hp of damage, which is about 10 times the damage I was doing before. He went down very easy after that. Yukiko is now overpowered from the reward after that fight, and I'm way overleveled with everyone. I may have almost rage quit, but I did like that challenge.
Cool! Well done bro. Now just make sure you reach at least level 25 to next dungeon boss and the optional boss (like this one) u should be around lvl 30
Just use a null physical persona and press rush. I finished this fight with rakhshasa
You just have to face him later in the game. His rampage just does unusually high damage for some reason.
I find him slightly annoying in English but god would I drive a skrewdriver in my ear if I heard Teddies Japanese voice over and over for 3 dungeons
He can still one-shot you at full HP even if all your team is like level 35 or higher.
I beat him because he missed
Yeah, I agree with this. I just started this game again few days ago after a few years and as always, I like to grind and overlevel my party to have easier time in later battle boss.
When I got to lvl 35, I tried to fight this contrarian king with decently leveled personas of around 30-40, I got one-shotted from his rampage even with all the debuffs. I heard from some people that his stats are actually bugged, where debuffs doesn't work on him, he will bypass the party buffs, and somehow his rampage move is powered too high than normal variant.
with help from the wiki + like lvl 27, this guy still knocked out 2 of my party members. ON EASY.
xD
P4 is one of rare cases where English dub feels better than Japanese
Also, ye, average Contrarian King experience, I legitly don't remember how did I beat it back in the day without a Persona that resists/blocks Phys
Just beat the Steamy Bathhouse Gym then go back and challenge him. You should be overleveled by then
I beat it at around level 20 on hard, if I remember correctly. All I can say is sukunda and a persona strong against physical were my friends.
Absolutely right
Don't bother with an optional boss until you've beaten the next story boss
Literally just fight him after steamy bathhouse it’s ez
You can easily kill this guy with null physical persona. I used rakhshasa and pressed triangle. All of my teammates died but yeah I killed him easily
You don't say.
O yeah, I remember this bastard, was a nice challenge at lvl 19 on extreme, had to make a debuff persona built just to defeat him, made my Yukiko the most OP member of my party for a few dungeons with getting her weapon before starting Kanji's Dungeon.
I hate Teddie's Japanese voice more than this miniboss 😂
xD somehow, I BEARLY like both
@@CIELLOR what about Teddie's English VA?
I beated this boss today the only one who survived was yu beacuse i did not bring any revival beads
It's an extra boss for a reason
The fact that he baits with red wall is just evil.
Diamond shield
he is only character who made me watch gameover screen in persona 4
:(
u need tarunda, sukunda and sukuja buff/debuff, if u have pychical mirror use it on mc (if few) or use it on ur entire party (if many) use elec or ice element for magic
A few points.
1)The Contrarian King isn't weak against Ice or Electricity in Golden.
2)Physical Mirrors are rare items, so good luck getting four at this point in the game.
3)Tarunda(enemy offense down) and Rakukaja(your defense up) only do so much and probably won't save you if he hits three times. Sukukaja(your evade up) and Sukunda (enemy hit down) can help, but evading Rampage is a matter of luck.
@@artificialaceattorney6822 they aren't flagged as weaknesses in the original either (ie. no knockdown and one more), but he's still programmed to take extra damage from ice and electricity; P4 has more of these hidden modifiers on enemies compared to P3 afaik
But yeah, avoiding a game over from Rampage is basically luck since even with his stats, his version seems to be several times stronger than what it should be
@@zaqareemalcolm I checked the Megami Tensei wiki. It mentions that he has unflagged weaknesses to Ice and Electricity in the original, but not in Golden.
@@artificialaceattorney6822 it's still there, you can kinda see it for yourself with how even in P4G Chie with Bufu will still deal more damage to him than Yosuke with Sonic Punch despite being a weaker in power skill and Chie's Ma being generally lower than Yosuke's St. The wiki gets some of its info directly or indirectly from guides which sometimes has mistakes or is missing stuff (like how Pralaya still has its incorrect power listed)
contrarian king was harder than escapist soldier
Agree
@@CIELLOR and shadow naoto 💀
Contrarian king was why I gave up on persona 4
lol
you know you can go back and fight them right
@@ihavetwofourwheelers i know but i really wanted just to fight that just at that time tho haha
@@antoniusstanley1366 lmao
I just fought him four times he didn't use rampage
Nice, you got lucky there
why do ppl hate teddie's japanese voice actor? It's miles ahead of the english one.
In the past years, I realised that the majority of megaten fans likes to play the games in english, since I'm from south america and spanish is my first language, most of streamers and youtubers play it that way. Just a few people seem to like japanese v.a.
@@CIELLOR It depends on the english voice acting for me I don't like the peformance in persona 4 especially chie's voice in golden, likewise for persona 3 and portable.
The fact so many players actually prefer English voice acting for P4 is crazy, I legit can't bear ANY of Japanese games with English dub, it has to be in Japanese for me...
Regarding Kuma (oh sorry, TEDDY), I had no choice than to play in English for Dancing All Night and let me tell you this was an absolute NIGHTMARE. It doesn't fit him at all and you lose so much in the translation, that's just not it. The only character whose voice is better in English was actually Rise.
Maybe I am biased because I have a degree in Japanese and used to live there but still I don't get the hate for P4G's Japanese voice acting, it's great, and I couldn't play it in another language.
@@noemie2323 I mostly prefer the english voice acting cuz for me it's yarring to keep hearing a different language opposed to what i'm reading for visual novels. (For a first playthrough) I usually do japanese voice acting for a second playthrough but for persona 4 I can't do it in english I can't take Chie's & Teddie's voice actors. I even prefer persona 3's english cast and that game was released way earlier.
